Not sure if it was an off day but the kitchen was not opened until 4, so gotta wait a little for food to pair with delicious beverages if you're chasing the happy hour like myself. I love the vibe of the space, eclectic atmosphere for sure! Highly recommend to make a reservation as they can fill up quickly. We tried a few drinks, my favorite is the Happy Bergamot Spritz, and I ordered a cranberry based NA cocktail. Both were delicious. The Happy taco and tostada are both yum, the chicken and pork, and both had a kick to it. The mac and cheese was creamy and divine - love the green chili touch. Travis was amazing and such a fun person to chat with, and he has such a great memory. Highly recommend the churro (fries) lol so good and crispy. Tucked into a little alleyway on South Broadway, lies the cute, trendy, chic, moody, funky little bar - The Goldfinch! In adding another stamp to my coffee passport, I stopped in on a recent Wednesday and was surprised by this little slice of paradise. The photogenic patio looked straight out of a magazine - creating an intimate and welcoming vibe! Upon entry, I was welcomed by a large bar, variety of seating options and friendly faces behind the bar. The menu here is eclectic, offering a variety of coffee, cocktails, beers, bites and sweet treats. I arrived just before 2pm (aka the end of their coffee offerings) and opted for the Honey Nut Cheerio latte - which was perfectly balanced and delicious! Because my passport offers a free latte with the purchase of another item, I opted to try one of their mocktails. The man behind the bar, suggested a "cherry limeade" dupe drink, to which he whipped it up and OMG so delicious and refreshing - YUM! Very cute exterior and interior tucked away right off Broadway! Parking was easy enough as they have spots in front of the restaurant (a plus on Broadway) or 2 hour free street parking. We went for 10:30 brunch, and it wasn't very full but had a nice smattering of people throughout. Standouts: Various types of coffee flavors that were delicious and cool brunch cocktails! Apparently, the vibe at night is different, which makes sense when we saw a DJ booth near the bar (which was very cute). We were a party of 7 and overall had a pleasant time. A new favorite spot! Decor is dark-- kinda boho gothy. During the day they are open for coffee with a light breakfast/brunch menu. Weekends they have a larger brunch menu (haven't tried that yet). They have a small covered patio area that seemed welcoming and would be enjoyable on a nice weather day. Early evenings seemed quieter, with a DJ playing music later on making it more of a party-vibe at that point. The cocktails are fantastic! Some are a spin on classics while others are totally unique. They make their ingredients in-house (juices, syrups, clarified milk punch, garnishes, etc.) The bartender who was usually working the few times I went was very friendly and knowledgeable about their products and cocktails/bartending in general. He was welcoming and willing to provide info about things to do in Denver (I was visiting from out of town). Service can be a little slow at times, but understandable when there's multiple patrons and their cocktails take some time to mix vs. just pouring a beer or basic vodka-soda drink. Holy cannoli, if you haven't been to this place you are missing out! Next level atmosphere that will make you feel fancy! I love a place that makes me feel like I walked into a hip, invitation only, upscale environment! But guess what no invite or reservation necessary! Oh, and free parking! Show up with pals and hang out in the outdoor covered space or at the inside cozy tables with swivel chairs like you wish you had at home! They have some more private smaller seating areas kinda in a corner if you need to discuss hot topics over a cocktail or beer. They do serve food which I will go back and try one day. Despite its location however, the noise from the street is completely cancelled once inside (however, I'm not sure about the patio area. We went here on a very cold winter day so the patio, of course, wasn't open. When it's a lot warmer, I'd love to sit outside and experience the outdoor environment in there. It might as relaxing as the inside.) This experience of mine was about a month or so ago (so much belated.) I had a wonderful red wine (Sangiovese or something like that) along with a pork and potato appetizer dish. That app truly complemented the wine (or the wine complemented the dish; either way, it sure was a great pairing.) There is a little DJ room where they were playing the kind if music that resonates with the whole experience and atmosphere. The lady who assisted us was very welcoming and friendly. The service was top notch. If you are looking for a quiet lounge to enjoy a good appetizer dish with a drink then this place will be your best bet (especially if you want to avoid a huge place where there are other people.) This chic bar opened in the Platt Park area earlier in 2024 to offer a nightclub option in the area. It is also open for brunch on the weekends. Named after the owner's spirit animal, a painting of a bright yellow goldfinch holding a turquoise jeweled dream catcher atop a disco ball greets you as you walk in the door. There are hints of other southwestern decor in the many Zia symbols sprinkled throughout the open yet intimate space. There are many options for seating, and we were lucky to have the table with the plush lime green swivel chairs. A perfect spot for drinks and a conversation. We arrived for happy hour. This included Happy Wells for $7, Happy Cans for $5, Happy Wines for $8, and Special Spritzes that were off the menu. Most customers were ordering the spritzes so I went for that. Plus, our server, who was also a bartender, sold me on one he had created with falernum syrup that wasn't too sweet and went down a little too easy. First of all this place is nothing like I imagined when I said lets go grab a cheap drink at the closest bar after leaving the Brutal Poodle one day, BUT this place definitely surprised me in a good way. One the decor is beautiful. It gives such a fun funky vibe from the patio and throughout the whole place. They have a DJ on weekends which adds to the vibe. I am liking that. We looked over the drink menu and ordered a cocktail each. They take their time making each drink carefully and each one was so delicious. We ended up having 2 each. The ambience is definitely that of a cocktail lounge, but very comfortable. We started with bloody marys and asked for spicy. They didn't come out spicy (granted, we really like spice) but the mix is all very thin. I prefer a thicker bloody, so I wouldn't order this again. Service is amazing and attentive. Our waiter was hilarious and was also very knowledgeable about drinks and food. Every Thursday, December through January is ladies' night where a local women owned business sets up a small display and you can shop to support her business- this is a fun concept! For Happy Hour, I selected the Goldfinch drink. While flavorful and a little spicy, it was delicious and well worth the cost- it was not on happy hour prices. I really wish I could have tried the cocktails and the food. This review is strictly about service. We were told "sit anywhere you like" and so we did. No one came for 10 minutes so as a gentle nudge, I went to the bar and asked, "Hey, can we get a couple of menus to make some decisions while we wait for the server?" I was informed that the menu is on a QR code UNDER the electric tealight. How is anyone supposed to know that?? But that's not the issue. A skinny server helping out other folks in a red tube top and black gloves made eye contact with me not once but TWICE and still ignored us. Now, my cynical companion was of the opinion that because we were in our "about to head to the airport in 5 hours" clothes, we didn't get served because we didn't look fancy enough. I, a hospitality professional, have a different take. More than half the tables were empty and everyone on the floor and behind the bar was running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. This is a result of only one thing: poor management. And as a bartender, I told the bartender there, "Hey man, you definitely did nothing wrong but bartender to bartender, we're walking out with nothing and that's money out of your wallet." He started to apologize and I was like, "dude, this isn't on you, you did nothing wrong! But if I were you, I'd be pissed because this is probably happening to other potential guests. That's money outta your wallet!" I'll try again, but probably not for a while. Tucked away off Broadway, The Goldfinch has secret garden vibes with an adorable and peaceful patio which leads into a gorgeous bar space. With low lighting and gold accents this space has an elegant yet relaxed vibe. The staff is SUPER attentive; we were checked on by several different members of the staff during our time and all were very friendly. Honestly, the food for me was just eh. The falafel a little too mushy and the paneer too dry. That being said, the Goldfinch cocktail was to die for. Super unique blend of savory, tart, and sweet with a sprinkling of gold on top. Sat down at 12:15 didn't take our order until over and hour later and that was only because someone at our table went up and had to ask what was going on.
