Super cute and cozy vibes in an eclectic, smaller space. The menu is simple, but the featured items are unique enough and quite tasty. My friend and I shared the duck fat fries and burrata salad. We also got espresso martinis which are pre-made. I believe they may have also used cold brew which is typically unfavorable to me, but I tried it anyway and it was fine. I'd probably get one again because I love espresso martinis but it's nothing special unfortunately. I'd definitely recommend making reservations if going on a weekend night, as the bar area will fill up with reservations as well. Finally stopped in to try this place after driving by it many times. Made a reservation for 7 people and they were able to accommodate us and even sat us early. What should have been an enjoyable evening with my wife and daughter turned into one of the most astonishingly inhospitable dining experiences I have encountered in years. Our table spent over $500 at Satchels -- hardly the behavior of people lingering over a single drink. Yet despite ordering generously and contributing significantly to the evening's revenue, we were unmistakably rushed out the door as though we were inconveniencing the establishment by being there. When I politely reminded the staff that dining -- particularly at this price point -- is meant to be an experience rather than a timed transaction, and mentioned that this sort of hospitality would be unthinkable in Europe, the response I received was stunning in its lack of professionalism. A staff member, who appeared more suited to coaching a CrossFit class than managing a hospitality environment, responded with the dismissive remark: "Enjoy your European lifestyle." It was delivered with precisely the kind of smug indifference that tells you everything you need to know about the culture of a place. Let me be clear: Restaurants that aspire to charge premium prices should also aspire to premium hospitality. In most of the world -- particularly in places that understand dining as an art rather than a turnover metric -- guests who spend hundreds of dollars are treated with appreciation, not hustled out the door like they've overstayed their welcome at a fast-food counter. Satchels seems to have mistaken urgency for efficiency and attitude for personality. If your idea of a dining experience is spending serious money only to be hurried out and mocked for expecting basic hospitality, then Satchels may suit you perfectly. For anyone who values grace, professionalism, and the simple courtesy of being allowed to finish an evening at their own pace, there are far better establishments to choose from. read more

Satchel's on 6th upon walking in is loud and crowded. The area is square shaped with a bar in the back. The bar has about 12 stools without backs. There are 9 tables on each side against a booth. Each table fits 2, one in a chair, one in a booth. The front has big windows. The hallway to the bathroom is a bit congested with staff going to kitchen and extra equipment in the hallway. The menu is small to say the least. At the time of writing there's 6 starts ranging from $7-$19. And there's five main courses from $22 - $37. I'm curious how often they change the menu. The wine list and cocktail list was longer. The burrata was more like a veggie cheese salad. It wasn't a bruschetta. Good though. I had the Morel Mushroom Tagliatelle, $29. The spinach was overly lemony and the sauce didn't adhere to the noodles making it taste plain. The mushrooms were very good. It took a bit to get serviced and semi inattentive. Overall cute. But way overpriced and under sized. They do charge per iced tea flute by the way. read more

We have wanted to try this neighborhood gem since it was recommended to us a couple of years ago. It was my birthday and my hubby made some reservations which I think on most evenings would be a requirement. They opened at 5:00 and when we arrived at 5:20 for our 5:30 reservations, the seats at the lovely and friendly bar were all taken and the tables were filling up fast. They have a 1.5 hour limit at tables so that tells you something as well. The staff was very sweet and professional. The service was really great throughout our meal. We split 2 starters: a Pear salad which was a little different, but tasty. They used endive instead of lettuce but the sweetness of the pear balanced the bitterness of that nicely. The second starter was a fall burrata - amazing! Delicata squash perfectly roasted, with pepitas, pomegranate seeds, hazlenuts, and the cheese was perfect. Our main courses were a black cod on a bed of parsnips purée (really nice) with a complex tomato compote, and a Parmesan encrusted chicken on white polenta, with delicious stewed cherry tomatoes on the side. Amazingly enough since it was a birthday celebration we ordered a Dessert, so many to choose from but we went for the beignet on a delicious strawberry compote. (These were like heaven, and there were 5! of them!) We absolutely could not finish them all, and actually took home part of my main as well. There were lots of GF options if that's a concern. They have a good selection of specialty cocktails, wines by the glass, and several lovely ones by the bottle as well. My only issue was the noise level was a little overwhelming at times. Came here for a friend's birthday. Service was excellent and friendly. My friend enjoyed the cioppino which was a good sized serving and delicious. I ordered the chanterelle paperdelle and it was really not good. The noodles were fresh but the flavor....tasted bitter! Almost like the chef forgot the salt or other flavoring or was spoiled? I had to douse the dish with salt in order to eat it. Was it supposed to taste like that or did I get a bad dish? Hard to tell. Disappointed. But again great service. read more

Went to Satchel's for a dinner date on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a very popular place as I could tell by the lack of space. It is a very small place so a crowd definitely made it a squeeze which isn't bad, that means a business is thriving which is great! I will say I kinda disliked our original seating, it was a small little table for two and I honestly wasn't sure how multiple plates of food plus drinks were gonna fit on the table. Not a very comfortable fit. Luckily we ended up getting seated at a table for 4 which was nice because it gave us the appropriate space. The food was good, I gave it 4 stars because it wasn't life altering good food and some things were fried in duck fat which just adds a bit of an interesting taste to the food. Not necessarily my cup of tea. I'd say that I'd visit this place for more of a social outing with friends who like old fashioned drinks. The vibes definitely felt like it's more of a suitable place for a crowd over 30 which isn't bad it just wasn't my favorite place but I still recommend you visit! read more

Sometimes you walk into a restaurant with no expectations and are blown away by how amazing it is, and that's exactly what happened at Satchel's on 6th. I was along for the ride for dinner with some friends, but it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Owner Andrew and his team really know how to make you feel at home. The place is busy and lively, but the staff's warmth makes you feel like part of the family. Now, the food was incredible. We kicked things off with burrata and some cheese-stuffed squash (I can't remember the exact name, but it was amazing). For my main, I had a steak cooked to perfection and the duck fat fries that were hands down the best fries I've ever had. The stuffed trout was also fantastic. It was cool that they had a smoker cooking it up just a few feet from our table outside Desserts didn't disappoint either. The lemon gelato was super refreshing, and the beignets, with their strawberry sauce twist, were almost as good as those back in New Orleans. I'm not normally a strawberry shortcake fan but the one here was incredible. A perfectly balanced dessert. The margarita was uniquely special too--different in a good way. Wow. I am thoroughly impressed with everything about this place. Honestly, I chose it because the pictures of the food on Yelp looked amazing. But I'll be recommending this little neighborhood gem to everyone I know! I called ahead to make sure their patio accepted dogs, and they assured me that they loved dogs & we were welcome to bring our pup. When we showed up, we were promptly seated, and given choice of table. They quickly brought us a little bowl of ice water, and everyone on the staff was super friendly to us and our dog. Our server came promptly to the table, and when my husband had lots of questions about the whiskey menu, he made sure to quickly grab the bartender to answer his questions about price and selection. We each ended up ordering a cocktail - both were presented in artsy glasses & were very classy and delicious. For food, we split everything. We ordered the tempura squash blossoms to start - AMAZING. They were filled with ricotta cheese, and sat on a tomato-y pasta base. Savory & satisfying. We split the snow crab house pasta & the burger for mains, and were far from disappointed. They were so flavorful!!! The pasta had burrata in it as well, and was creamy and surprisingly light & refreshing. The burger was spot ON. BBQ pork on top of the patty made for juicy, smoky goodness. And those duck fat fries... no words. SO GOOD. Our dog especially liked licking our fingers after :) Try this place out! You will be back again and again! read more

I visited Satchels just this February when a friend was in town from California. I wanted to discover a few new places with her. Satchels has been up and running since 2015. This was touted as a neighborhood spot. So I expected a warm welcome. A benign acknowledgement would suffice since it's our first time. I'm no prima donna. Nope. Nothing short of a nod or something! Cut to the chase. My fave of the night was the Duck Fat Fries and that outstanding salad called the Spring Forager Plate. It's peas, baby carrots, pickled fiddle heads, marrinated asparagus, minets lettuce, nasturtium, spring onion cream, garlic honey. This was a meal in itself for me. The Duck Fat Fries was amazing. We tried three of their desserts. We had a couple of their cocktails. The Rosē that my guest ordered was red instead. The waiter was nice enough to switch it their house red. When you walk in the bar in the middle fills up the room. The place that night was moderately busy. With our reservation we didn't have to wait that long once we had the waiters attention. They're closed as of now but will re-open April 14th for take out. Nice to note that they source their fresh ingredients from the local farmers market. Not sure I'll be back for the food. Although if I'm in the area I wouldn't mind grabbing a cocktail like their old fashion with that yummy Duck Fat Fries. Yes it's still four stars in my book. We headed to Satchel's for dinner before Glow at the Botanical Gardens since it is just around the corner. We showed up at 6:30p with no reservations (recommended). It was an hour wait for inside but we opted to sit right away outside. There are 3 round tables with umbrellas on their front walk. It was a great evening (about 68 degrees) out. The road out front wasn't too busy so it was a very nice spot. The service was top-notch. We ordered right away and the food was pretty evenly spaced as it fame out to us. Food: Fig Toast Kale Salad Burrata and Fried Delicata Squash Rings Flank Steak Overall, the food was great. The kale salad was crazy flavorful and I finished wishing I had another serving. It was dressed so well and not drenched with dressing. The fig toast was very good, but the Burrata/Squash dish was bland. There just wasn't much going on with that dish to bring out any real flavors. The steak was good even if the plating was haphazard. I don't think it was worth $35 but it was an ok choice. We will absolutely be back and look forward to enjoying the inside. Satchel's is a neighborhood institution and we look forward to many more meals there. read more

What a fabulous and cozy gem! I found this restaurant on Yelp when looking for farm to table experiences with a chill atmosphere. The service was amazing. The food was delicious - we had the grilled oysters which were being grilled right out on the front patio, burrata, which was paired with a crispy grilled bread and a beautiful presentation of grilled fruits and mixed greens. Currently, the menu is consisting of small plates while they ramp up and everything is delish! I absolutely loved the burrata, it came with creamed pesto and beets with crostini. All of the flavors were perfect! The fried vegetables and the duck fat fries were just darn good and worth every penny! The wagyu beet was $24 for 2oz. The flavor was perfection but I don't think for the size it was worth the price. All in all, I never tire of Satchels. I'll be back and I hope you visit too! read more

Satchel's (named for the owner's son) is a real gem in a bistro-like setting on 6th Avenue in Cherry Creek area. Wonderful, but small, menu with creative dishes at reasonable prices for the quality and care the chef puts into each dish. The menu changes frequently depending on the season. Carefully curated wine and spirits list, again with reasonable prices. The staff (particularly JP) are friendly and caring and make your dining experience something special. And lastly, but not least, Andrew, the owner/host who seems to know each and very guest, is especially warm, greeting diners with a hug and smile, and generous with his time and efforts to make sure each guest is having a lovely time. Always crowded but somehow even guests without reservations seem to be accommodated. My wife and I go there frequently and have never been disappointed. This is truly a special place with lively atmosphere. The roasted oysters on the outdoor grill are not to be missed, lovingly roasted by Andrew himself. read more
