If you are looking for Flagstaff's worst customer service, look no further! Every single time I've gone to Biffs, the staff is rude and seems consistently irritated. They are incapable of answering simple questions about their menu items, and will not look further into it if they don't have the answer. I recommend Einstein's for bagels! The Place has wonderful breakfast sandwiches, if that's what you're looking for. Don't waste your time here. As many people know, some medical conditions, including pregnancy, make it so someone should not be consuming smoked meats because they are not fully cooked. I had a hankering for a smoked salmon bagel on the way home from dropping my oldest off at school. Alas, I have one of said conditions, so when I called in to order, I inquired as to whether the lox spread was made with fully cooked salmon, lox flavoring, or with smoked lox. I was told it was fully cooked salmon. When I got there to pick up my order, I asked again at checkout to make sure (because there seemed to be some confusion over the phone with the question). The woman seemed confused. So she asked, who I assume was a manager or seasoned worker, and her answer was something along the lines of, "um, I think it's cooked, it's like, smoked, right? So it's like cooked, I think? Maybe?". Totally clueless, totally unwilling to even come over and talk to me, or look into it. This is my consistent experience with them, despite this being the first time I've asked about anything in regards to a health condition. I do not recommend going here. They do not care about their customers and will not make you feel welcome. I will say, the gentleman with shoulder-length, dirty blonde hair, was the only employee who seemed engaged with customers, making eye contact, etc. So props to that gentleman. The rest of the staff is rude and can't even bother to acknowledge customers. Edit: I called in to speak to the manager, she started arguing with me that all of their staff know it isn't cooked and they wouldn't have given me any other answer. Obviously, 3 different staff members gave me the answer that it is fully cooked. The manager was rude and would not accept that her staff gave inaccurate information. The manager started telling me it was obvious there is actual lox in there because it is called lox spread, however, some places use lox flavoring, so I figured it was worth asking if they used lox in it or not! I fell in love with the old downtown in Flagstaff & this is located there! There's something extra special about getting up super early & sipping on coffee & eating a bagel on a rainy & cold morning. The coffee was great & the bagel was good but it was on the denser side and I enjoy lighter bagels. Still tasty.. Downtown Flagstaff is historic & I love the old buildings that now feature lots of new businesses. This bagel shop is extra cute because it features dog pics on every inch of the walls. Mostly babies that are no longer with us & it's a beautiful tribute to them. Parking can be tight around here so come extra early and this business is CASH ONLY. Note ~ there's an ATM inside incase you forget. This is a great quick breakfast option if you're looking to quickly get on the road. read more

Came here a handful of times the past month and it's decent but the sandwich quality is hit or miss depending on who makes it. The one thing that is consistent though is the lack of proper management. The whole process from ordering to paying to receiving the food is sporadic and poorly coordinated. The employees weren't wearing masks but wanted people to wait outside for their food, (which doesn't help the already chaotic process when there is more than 2 customers) doesn't make much sense. With better management and standards this place could be a lot better. read more

Great bagels! Although, staff and owners can have terrible attitudes. Over the past 3 years of frequenting Biffs nothing has changed. I have friends who worked there and they either quit or didn't return because of the toxic environment from management. After reading the owners responses to her employees being outright disrespectful to customers, I know this review won't mean anything to them. I was treated so poorly. The employee continued to talk about me and laugh about how she was rude to me to her colleague for everyone to hear. The lady who took our payment was also incredibly rude. I watched both of them be outright mean to every customer after us. I have never experienced service like this in my life. I should have spoken up for myself and for the other customers but I was in pure shock. People work hard for their money, and when your customers are choosing to spend their money at your establishment you should be grateful and be kind. It's not hard. Don't spend your money here, they don't appreciate your business or you. There are so many other great local businesses in flag that you can spend your hard earned money at. read more

Must stop for bagel eaters and dog lovers! My wife and I were fortunate to order the last bagels Biff served in 2017. We arrived at 1:55 pm on December 31, 2017. The employees were very friendly and totally OK with the fact we rolled in right at closing. I ordered the Lox Sandwich on a plain bagel and my wife had an Asiago bagel with plain cream cheese. Both were superb! My only regret was not order the freshly squeezed lemonade. The decor at Biff's is very fun. The walls are covered in pictures of dogs. Biff's Bagels is a cute little bagel shop in Flagstaff and there are so many pictures of beautiful dogs all over the walls! This shop seems to be a local favorite! I ordered two different bagels and the chai latte. The chai latte was delicious :) I ordered an onion bagel with plain cream cheese and an Asiago cheese bagel with garlic/herb cream cheese! The bagels were so good and had plenty of flavor. I also tried my friends' lox bagel sandwiches and they were so good! The bagels here are fresh and their hot drinks are great! They have so many different options for bagels, sandwiches, and drinks. I will definitely have to come back when I am back in Flagstaff! The interior is cozy and makes you feel nice and warm, while escaping the cold outside. read more

Was having a bad morning. Parked in the wrong spot, was asked to move, dropped some money. Walked into Bif's and got yelled at for not having a mask on. I had a bandana and was putting it on as I walked in. I was still 25 feet away from anyone. Employee yelled at me, "Boy, you're batting a thousand today". I don't need to be shamed in front of other customers. That is disrespectful. I drive 2 to 3 dozen people a day for Uber and Lyft. I am stopping my recommendation of Bif's Bagels. Hands down the best bagels I've ever had. This cozy shop near downtown Flagstaff unapologetically only takes cash, let's dogs wander the restaurant, and makes the best bagels you'll try this side of New York. My new personal fav... an apple cinnamon bagel with regular cream cheese to go... then around the corner for a coffee at Macy's (The Bohemian Latte is my fav). I've contemplated writing this review for a while but things are just adding up at this point. I will say.... these bagels are top notch. The three star review is an average between the service (1 star) and the bagels (5 stars) I've been been disappointed way too many times after being a customer of over 12 years. 1. They always seem to be out of vegan cream cheese. I have resorted to buying my own cream cheese and just buying the bagels here but that can be inconvenient when I'm trying to grab a bagel before work. I know vegan cream cheese isn't always the most popular, but it can be a downer when they are out several times a week. 2. They seem to always get my order wrong. Several times when they have been busy, they have literally forgotten about my bagel order. I've had to go up to the counter after watching people who were behind me in line get their orders. No apologies given for making me wait over 35 minutes for a bagel and cream cheese. This isn't something that has happened just once. Also, I have paid for extra toppings like tomato and cucumber and not received those toppings. I never made a fuss about it because I usually do not have the time or energy to ask for a replacement or refund. 3. Lastly, today (8/31/20), I had driven up from Phoenix (I am a flag local but travel for work) and I was desperately craving a bagel. I strategically planned out grabbing a bagel on my way to work. I even grabbed some vegan cream cheese! I work 7:30am-5:30pm everyday (about 15 miles from downtown) and cannot leave for a lunch break. I showed up to Biffs at about 6:55am (it says they open at 7am) and waited until 7:13am, before I had to leave for work. There were at least 4 people in line waiting at 7am. The staff just looked at us from inside the windows and ignored all of us waiting. No "hey sorry we are a little behind, we will let you inside in just a few". Nothing. It seemed like they were annoyed that we were there. Who knows when they actually opened. Just something to note, when people are waiting outside at the time of opening, it's pretty safe to assume they have somewhere to be and can not afford being late just for a bagel. In this case, everyone in line was heading to work. Waiting a few minutes is never a big deal to me, but waiting 13 minutes after the posted hours is ridiculous. Some may wonder why I even keep coming here and the truth is, these bagels are really good and it's the only bagel shop in Flagstaff. Not sure when I'll be able to come in to get my bagel fix, especially after today. Bummer for sure. read more

This was my family's time visiting flagstaff as I am enrolled in NAU. We were excited to check out the campus and we wanted to grab a small bite to eat before heading back home. These bagels are so chewy and delicious. We miss NYC bagels fairly regularly and Biff's does a great job satisfying that craving. Plus the staff is incredibly helpful and personable. We have also ordered coffee carafes for the office and it was totally worth the money. During COVID they had limited their selection and cut bialys from their menu for a while. I called and ordered some and they have 6 ready for me in 2 hours! That made my wife SO happy! I'm grateful for Biff's. A cool little spot with a variety of bagels and ways to eat them. From a plain bagel with cream cheese to a knarly breakfast sandwich with meat cheese egg and the kitchen sink. My other half and I stopped in here before heading out to the Grand Canyon. If you need a quick breakfast for a decent price I would come here. I came here with one bagel in mind, which was the LOX. That plan went out the window once I looked at the rest of the menu. The bagels were delicious! I got the Smoked Albacore ($8.75) with a Mish Mash bagel and was impressed at the amount of flavor it packed. Not sure if it's because I haven't had cream cheese in a while, but it was so good. My boyfriend got the Lox ($8.75) and added avocado ($1.15) which was great as well. It had the same ingredients: cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, and onions. I would recommend the albacore though. You don't find albacore bagels too often. You can really tell the owner is a dog lover. The walls are covered with framed portraits of dogs, which was great for a fellow canine lover. Brownie points for that. You can bring a portrait of your own dog to put up as long as it follows the guidelines that are posted. The fancier signature bagels can set you back a decent amount. There are many other options at an affordable price that it was almost tempting to get a second serving. Thankfully, self-control was exercised. Also remember, credit cards not accepted. Ate here for breakfast because we have 2 dogs on a road trip with us and they allow dogs inside! Bagels were delicious and they had flavors I hadn't seen before - spinach Parmesan, roasted red pepper, Green Chile, etc. We had an egg and cheese bagel sandwich and a bagel with lox spread. Both were delicious. If you're not a dog lover, the place has plenty of seating and you could easily find a table away from any four-legged friend that might be dining at the same time you are. We arrived at Biff's on a Saturday afternoon and were pleased to find that they were in the process of restocking bagels that had just come out of the oven. The menu is pretty big with a lot of different bagels and cream cheese spreads to choose from as well as a selection of delicious looking bagel sandwiches that I'll be sure to try next time. I decided to keep it simple and ordered the Mish Mash bagel (their take on an everything bagel) with plain cream cheese and it was delicious! My bagel had just come out of the oven but I still asked for it to be toasted and they did it perfectly. The outside was slightly crispy while the inside remained soft, dense, and chewy. They're also pretty generous with the cream cheese, which I love. The employees work fast. When we arrived there was a little bit of a line but it moved quickly and we had our bagels handed to us before we even had the chance to finish paying. I would suggest making sure you know what you want before you step up to the counter or else you might feel a little rushed. This place looked pretty good and what I ordered tasted good. I had the egg-and-cheese on a toasted jalapeño bagel. Very nice. I just wish I could have ordered more -- they only take cash and I came with just a little bit of cash. They pointed to the ATM on premises, which I assume charges a hefty fee (in addition to what my bank would charge). My kids enjoyed all the pictures of dogs in heaven on the walls. Bagel sandwiches on a Sunday morning, yes please!! We decided to try this place out since it had so many good ratings. Biffs is located right next to the brewery and seems to be the place to be. The line went out the door and the parking lot next to the brewery is applicable to this place as well. We waited in a long line to order some bagels. Luckily by the time we made it to the front, there were still a lot of bagels left to choose from. There is a line to order and then you get into the line to pay. While we waited in line, we looked at all the pictures on the wall of dogs that had passed over the years. It's nice because they even have a sign that says you can bring in a picture of your loved canine that has passed too. This can be a place where their dog's lives live on in this bagel shop. I ordered the lox bagel sandwich. It was overall pretty tasty. The capers taste didn't pop as much and the bagel was a bit chewy compared to other bagels I have had. My husband ordered the same sandwich but they ran out of lox. They gave him an albacore on instead which was still pretty tasty. This place is a good bagel place in downtown but I wish their bagels were a little less chewy. read more

My boyfriend got the breakfast bagel and said it was good. They were out of Asiago bagels. I got the bagel with locks. I asked for it double toasted and it was not. Also, bagel was smaller than other places I've been to and had hardly any locks on it. Orange juice didn't taste fresh. First time in Flagstaff. Looking for a NY Bagel place. This place pretty darn close except the bagels are way to soft and no crunch. The top of the bagels should have some crunch and should be a bit harder so they do not seem like a hamburger bun which these could me. Good texture. My sesame bagel had this weird taste like vinegar not sure what it was thinking it was a somewhat sour cream cheese as the extra ones I bought home with me since I live several hundted miles away did not gave the sour taste.. . But the bagels were not the high lite of my first time. It was seeing all the pups and the amazing chocolate chip cookie. It was good to see a donation jar for dog rescues. I work with rescues too so it was great to see especially since all my families 8+ dogs have been rescues. Parking is limited only 4 spots on the street across from the shop. They fo require masks and rhrow away used paper menu which the Trees might have a problem with as paper comes from logging of trees. Not really social distancing only because most people really do not know what 6 feet is. Everytime I moved further away from someone who was too close they moved up so definitely need a better system. read more

Sometime you just want, no need, a good lox bagel and Biff's didn't disappoint. Generous amounts of both cream cheese and lox on an almost perfectly chewy NY style bagel. As another mentioned, ask them to toast it for a bit longer as my "toasted" bagel seemed to just have a bit of heat waved over it. Coffee left a bit to be desired as well. Great service, strong Covid measures in place and love their mission to support local no kill animal shelters and dog rescues. read more
