I had a 5-star review posted here before, but after several more visits, I've got to change it to 4 stars. The bagels are very very good. They're the best I've ever had. And *sometimes* the service is good. But too often the service is horrendous. I can't think of a better word for it. Waiting 25 minutes for a bagel (not including the time in line before we placed our order) only to receive an untoasted (I ordered toasted) bagel with the wrong kind of cream cheese (ordered plane and received Garlic & Herb) was really disappointing. I literally returned home and had to throw it in the trash. It was a waste of my money and a waste of my time. Although the details above are only in reference to my visit today, it is not the first time that something of the like has taken place and I'm perhaps most disappointed that I can no longer bring myself to return to Biff's any time soon considering that they really are the best bagels I've had before. It's my favorite breakfast food place in flagstaff, but the risk of terrible service is not worth returning to. I'm really saddened. read more

We have been going to Biffs for at least 15 years. The service has always been slow but friendly and the bagel sandwiches were always great. This last visit was bad. The bagels are still tasty but I had to wait repeat my order three times for a lox sandwich with vegan cream cheese. What I got was a bagel with vegan cream cheese and no lox and when we mentioned it to the staff they just handed a package of lox without everything else that goes on the sandwich. If I wanted to make my own sandwich I would and for a lot less. This is very sad as Biffs has always been great! They need to do a better job training their staff. Small businesses are struggling . I will continue to go to Biffs but this may be the last time I order a sandwich. Take my advice just get the bagels. read more

Super quick service, everyone is super friendly so many choices to have, the bagel variety is great! The "Jalapeno Melt" on a Jalapeno Pepper Jack was my favorite! The dog wall of remembrance is very cute for dog owners! Woof woof! COVID guidelines are socially distance and there are hand santizers around the cafe. read more

As we are visiting from out of town, when we stopped by Biff's Bagels, we did not already know what we wanted. The staff seemed very impatient waiting on us to decide what to order, even though there was no other customers in the restaurant. When someone else did come in, we let them go ahead of us, so it felt like there was no need to rush us. The bagels were excellent. Soft on the inside, chewy on the outside. I also liked how supportive the business seems of dogs. Overall, they have a great product but need to improve customer service. read more

Two stars for all the puppy love! The framed photos of dogs with loving notes from their owners are enough to move you to tears before you've had your breakfast. It really is a pretty special place in that regard. Unfortunately, their bagels leave a lot to be desired. Opted for a breakfast sandwich on one of their more exciting-sounding options, the green chile cheddar. Bagel itself was extremely light on flavor, and tasted extremely dense despite it being 8AM and lightly toasted. Egg and cheese (American) on the sando were also similarly tasteless. Not worth $5 by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not a fan of cash-only policies, but this spot has a handy ATM (with $2 fee). Service was awkward- I placed my order with Dude #1, paid with Chick #2, and waited 10 minutes for my order. Dude #1 apparently couldn't remember my face, and couldn't raise his voice enough to be heard so I could retrieve it. No one likes a cold breakfast! read more

When I grow up and move to Flagstaff, I am going to Biff's every other day for a bagel breakfast sando. We did first discover Biff's (oddly) during Quarantine and a quick weekend escape from Phoenix so the experience was somewhat altered - but the team did things so well during all of these changes and were friendly, quick and ON-IT following all suggested guidelines and having a line out the door. They have a great variety of bagels as well as food and drink options. I was standing in line waiting to order and noticed the "everything" bagels were running out and got nervous, this has happened to all of us right? This was our favorite stop to grab a bagel sandwich while in Flagstaff, unfortunately our last visit we called for pick up and were told they could not take a phone order because that's unfair to the customers waiting inside. I was a bit confused because calling ahead has become the standard. Parking is not easy on the weekend so it seems logical to call ahead run in and grab while my sig other drives around the block. I could have lived without this $9 bagel in my life. The bagel was pretty mediocre. It's hard to come back from that on a bagel sandwich at a bagel place. I like a good crust and chew to a bagel. This was dense without much character. Same for the other bagels we ordered. I ordered the green chile cheddar bagel with egg, cheddar, and bacon. There was no green chile flavor. The egg was nice and fluffy but the bacon was limp. Service was kind of grumpy. read more

I have always always always loved Biff's Bagels. It has been one of my favorite spots to get breakfast for years. My previous review raved about them as well but I gave them four stars because they did not take card and only cash. Due to everything going on, the ATM that is inside is now taped off BUT they take card now! I highly recommend for your breakfast needs. It is delicious. I got the veggie deluxe and customized it in quite a few ways. My favorite was their crushed red pepper - parmesan bagel with pepperjack cheese. Coffees are good too and the atmosphere is chill. I love me a good bagel, and Biff's is just the place for this in Flagstaff. I can't believe it took several trips to Flagstaff before making my way in, but it was love at first bite once we found it! Staff is friendly, prices are moderate, and location is central... whether you want a basic bagel or one flavored, topped with butter or cream cheese or a sandwich, Biff's has you covered! My only complaint is that I am used to bagel places being open at the crack of dawn... like I sometimes am. Biff's opens at more normal hours (Monday-Saturday 7am -3pm and Sundays they open at 8). I guess that's a sign that I should be sleeping in a bit more like the folks at Biff's! See you next visit to Flagstaff, Biff's! read more

I'm SO GLAD I found this place on a quick trip through Flagstaff. Parking was easy. The employees are so nice and helpful. Great experience. I got bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. Best everything bagel I've ever had. They use their own "mish mash" seasoning and I was very tempted to buy a container of it to go. Their coffee is also very good! They use a really high quality organic syrup for most flavors. Plus they have Yerba Mate which I hadn't seen out in a while. Yum! The shop itself is also very cute, with lots of portraits of puppers on the wall and a prominent Pride flag. If I move to Flagstaff like I hope to some day, I'll definitely be a regular here. read more

The food here smacks! This place was recommended to us by a local at a coffee shop after she heard me saying I was craving a bagel. It was short walk across the train tracks from the coffee place in uptown Flagstaff. This place is small but they have a huge menu, and I was amazed at how many different type of bagels and spread options there are! I ordered a breakfast sandwich with southwestern spread, pastrami, egg, and provolone cheese on a garlic rosemary bagel. This sandwich did not disappoint, the bagel was fresh and they use quality ingredients. My friend got a bagel with lox and capers which looked really good too. If you need coffee they have it there. All of the staff was super friendly and patient while you're deciding on your order. Overall this was a great find, and if it's recommended by locals you know it has to be good. Also, Biff's is named after a dog and in the shop they have information on how you can help shelter dogs in the area, which I think is pretty cool. read more

Hot fresh bagels made the authentic way. Nothing I've had at home in San Diego is better even vs the Jewish deli here famous for their bagels. Biff's has a decent selection of bagels and schmears from which to choose. I ordered a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese; my partner ordered the cinnamon crunch bagel with the pumpkin spice cream cheese. Both were tasty and obviously fresh. Service was friendly, welcoming, and excellent. Inside of Biff's, the staff all wore their masks properly, as did all of their customers. The restaurant is set up so as to maximize safety amidst the COVID pandemic, and nothing more could be done in that regard. Kudos to the place for taking COVID and safety seriously! read more

We went to Biff's last Friday for some sandwiches. We thought it was strange there were no bar stools around the tables. It was snowing outside so we couldn't exactly find a bench and eat our food there. So we ended up eating in the car. My daughter and I had the egg and cheddar sandwich my husband had a BLT. Honestly.... disappointed. The bagel was not a high quality product. So, when you start with a foundational product that is sub-par you are already trapped in a matrix of mediocrity. The southwest cream cheese tasted more like a hummus than a cream cheese spread. Their were several of us, we all had different things, but in the end our mutual average of the tastes, product quality and service was all similar. One important caveat, the staff that took our orders and fulfilled them were pleasant, upbeat, happy, gave excellent customer service and really seemed to enjoy bring there with the customers, but an older man and woman working the cash register back and forth came off as sullen, irritated, angry, unpleasant, resentful and unhappy to be there. Perhaps they are not well-suited for front counter customer service work. Whoever is responsible for hiring and training might want to assist these two employees in find a work responsibility that removes them from dealing directly with customers - because having to talk to customers clearly irritates them. In the end, it definitely feels like a business where the owner's original passion has become their personal prison - and it shows. In truth, next time just we'll grab a package of Dave's Bagel's, cream cheese, lox, tomatoes and capers at the grocery store and we'll absolutely end up with a better meal. This makes me sad because I prefer to support local owners. But ultimately the quality has to be there, and that is just not the word I would apply to this establishment. read more

It was okay. Service was rushed and not friendly at all, and this is standard according to the other reviews. My friends who graduated from NAU and loved Biffs during their college days hyped the place up but I wasn't impressed. There aren't even dog photos all over the walls anymore, just some TV screens. We stopped in as a family for a graduation lunch today. It took 4 employees to make our food with an estimated time of 30-40min (we were the only customers in the shop). We ordered 4 sandwiches. They were laughing and talking all while walking in circles. The food wasn't their priority. *30-40min after ordering our 4 sandwiches* Two were made incorrectly which we clarified what we wanted 2-3 times to ensure they understood. 30min into waiting they ask "what kind of cheese do you want". What? You're just now adding cheese? On top of the two improperly made sandwiches, one had a HAIR in it and the meat was COLD (in both).. we gave the sandwich back. *15min pass by after promise of remaking* we go up front, they haven't even started making it yet. I then asked for a manager because of their overall lack of consideration and customer service. They didn't apologize. They weren't empathetic. The experience was mediocre. We opted out of getting the sandwich, it wasn't worth it. The manager stared blankly at us. Seeming like she wasn't sure what to say or how to apologize either. She gave us a refund for two sandwiches which we were appreciative of. That's not the concern though. The concern is the awful service and time management. The manager shouldn't have to follow behind her employees to make sure they aren't messing around while you have customers waiting for their food. You would think that would be common sense, I guess that's not all that common these days. The cherry on top- even after our conversation with your manager, the sandwich still hadn't been "built"..... we won't be returning. read more

The bagels are good, there is no denying that. The menu has lots of options and most items are fairly priced. Location is fantastic, and the overall vibe is quite friendly. However, the service leads much to be desired. Orders are frequently made incorrectly, or just not at all. On two separate occasions I have waited 15 minutes for a toasted bagel and cream cheese, only to be told they forgot to put in the order when I asked where it was. When ordering you have to repeat your order twice (once to the person preparing and again to the cashier). Fine, except they act annoyed if you aren't able to rattle off every ingredient you asked for right away. If I'm going to have to memorize all the toppings I ordered, don't be rude about it. They are cash only, which would be fine if the ATM was reliable. I have been in a few times where it was just out of service. Unacceptable for a cash only business surrounded by other brunch places ready to take your money in any form. Also I have been there when "oops, it's out of cash!" And have to wait for the rude owner/manager to refill it. I live downtown and on the same block and eat downtown almost every day. so I can say these are problems I have seen repeatedly. Furthermore, the overall experience you get for the price is markedly worse than you would get at a nearly any other breakfast place downtown. Overall I do not recommend Biff's to friends/family when they come to visit. Again, the bagels are fantastic so I would recommend picking up a dozen if you want to host a brunch spread at home, however the customer experience is poor considering how Biff's is supposedly a staple of downtown Flagstaff. read more
