But you can't see them- and if you ask the less than kind barista will tell you it's against health code to just see them. Ok- well it's your concept not mine...? Clarified with server what I ordered and she agreed "yes, cappuccino, that's how we serve them now. The owner did away with the other cups." Wow! Definitely NOT a cappuccino. Great local spot that I'd be in all the time if I lived in Flagstaff. Good, flavorful iced latte, and they made it in my insulated cup, which I appreciate. The barista was friendly and efficient. They have at least three seating sections: the front, work area which was quiet and comfortable in a weekday morning and feels like a good workspace, the salon on the left with pretty reasonable prices for hair services, and a game room on the right. Went here today and asked if I could order a matcha and was told that they were out of matcha. Which is fine, I used to where at a place where we always ran out of things because they were not properly ordered. So I got another drink instead and sat down to study, the workers switched and another customer asked to order a matcha and was given one. I was fortunate to squeeze myself between appointments and get a haircut from Val today. I've had a lot of haircuts over the years and I would argue that this haircut rivals any cut I've ever had. I think it may be the most accurate cut I have had. He was very thorough, he took his time and we enjoyed conversation about family and Flagstaff. I 100% recommend the shop. read more

I don't ever leave reviews especially not negative ones but I was already having a rough day and this was just the cherry on top. This was my first time and probably my last time coming here. Although really aesthetic the barista didn't start making our drinks until like 15 minutes later because she was talking to someone in the back and it's not like there was a wait. We were the only people she was making drinks for. I ordered a golden chai latte and it quite literally tasted like water. This is the cutest little coffee shop ever! So much attention to the little details makes this a cozy setting to have coffee, tea...and many other choices. I had a an iced Hugo branded Earl Grey tea. Honestly the best tea I have ever tasted. I promptly looked Hugo teas up on line and placed an order so I could brew at home in Phoenix. Lots of comfy places to sit inside and outside on their small patio. A great variety of games from tic tac toe to chess, and everything in between if you want a little recreation during your visit. And while you are there, you can even make an appt to get your hair cut and styled. Very nice salon and barber options lay behind the cafe area in this delightful setting. Upon my first visit I was super pleased with the atmosphere of Val's. There was a variety of seating, lots of light, plugs, and even board games. Ive been visiting flagstaff the past month and was really happy to find a place that was comfortable to come back to again and again. The coffee is also great. But here's where the 2 stars comes from, the service I received from each different barista each different time I've come in has been disappointing and quite honestly uncomfortable. I am a female in my early 20's and that's what the baristas here seem to be. The first visit was great but each visit after left me disappointed in the manners and patience of our generation. There's a mean girl vibe behind the counter and it makes me sad because i really thought this place was awesome. The second visit I came early in the morning and the barista would barely look me in the eyes, rushed me through my order, and agreesively gave me the iPad with "this will ask you a question". No I don't want to leave a tip. The third time I went in again, no eye contact, no niceties. This can be ok, I get being straight to the point but I don't like my coffee served with a side of disrespect. The last time I went in I received similarly poor service. This time with the added bonus of her announcing to every customer, over the coarse of being there, loudly "we close at 6pm on Sundays". It was 4:30. This gives an uncomfortable atmosphere, I understand you'd like to close on time, but stating it to each costumer for the entire restaurant to hear, there's got to be a better way. Overall the service is simply lack luster and each barista I experienced, just left me disappointed and uncomfortable to return. read more

I was a client for several blond partials until she serviced my daughter recently who only wanted a partial but was charged for services not disclosed nor transparent on her pricing during her service. Hair cut and style was poorly executed as well. She wanted long layers but ended up with uneven ends and really no layering. For 265$ what was delivered is embarrassing. read more

Good coffee, okay service. Barista wasn't super friendly but also wasn't rude or anything. Environment is cool. Big comfy chairs, lots of seating, and a nice, big chess board. Loved the jazz music in the background too. Very relaxing. I'm not a big fan of coffee shops that are also another type of business. Just because I think it takes away resources from being a good coffee shop. But that's just my personal opinion. Overall it was good. I absolutely adore Val's! Every time I'm here it's full of other people working which totally motivates me- such a cozy and productive atmosphere.
