Plain and whole wheat bagels
Amy W.

Cute little place that we were excited to try, but the bagels are lacking. Had a plain and whole wheat. Flavor was OK, but texture and size are nothing like a NJ/NY bagel.

Super fresh Bagels! Great Service…read more Vacationing in St Augustine. Stumbled upon this all day breakfast and lunch shop. It was so good, I went back the next day! The variety and quality of the bagels is great. Catherine, and crew are welcoming, personable, and professional. The outside patio is perfect for enjoying the weather in the mornings in St. Augustine. Come early... The bagels always sell out!

It's got that classic, no-frills, "hole-in-the-wall" charm that feels authentic amidst all the tourist spots. The outdoor seating area is a total win--it's perfect for people-watching with a breeze while you fuel up for a walk down St. George Street. I went with a classic plain bagel. The texture was spot on--chewy on the inside with that essential slight crunch on the outside. Sometimes bagel shops treat coffee as an afterthought, but the iced coffee here was smooth, bold, and served over plenty of ice. It stayed cold even in the Florida humidity. The line can look intimidating because the space is small, but the staff moves with impressive speed. I was through the line and outside at a table in less than 10 minutes. They've clearly mastered the "morning rush" flow. If you're visiting on a weekend, get there before 10:00 AM. Sweetwater Coffee understood the assignment…read more I ordered the banana bread latte and let me just say... if banana bread and coffee had a personality, this would be it. It was smooth, cozy, and somehow tasted like a hug but also woke me up like I had responsibilities. This was much needed after we landed from cold Chicago, like "hey girl"! Perfect balance of flavor and caffeine, not overly sweet, and actually tasted like real coffee (which is rare these days). If you're in St. Augustine, do yourself a favor and stop here, you'll leave caffeinated, happy, and maybe a little motivated as well!

Not only did I find delicious coffee and beautiful local art - which is what you'd expect and hope to find given the name - but fresh, homemade breakfast/lunch options and some of the most genuine, sweet people who remember their regulars and truly appreciate customer loyalty, which is far too rare in the service industry these days. In 3 years, I've had only great food and coffee here, but it's the warm, thoughtful, human element that has kept me coming back and will keep me coming for years to come. Thank you, Mike and the Sweetwater crew! *A note for my fellow wheeled peops: It's small, depending on the type of chair you have, and may require deft maneuvering but there is an accessible entrance in the back between Chase bank and the Villa Zorayda museum. If you need help getting in, call. They will all help, without hesitation. Don't miss out on an amazing experience.

The woman that took our order was very pleasant and the gentleman making the coffee was also really nice. We came in with 6 adults and 5 toddlers/kids, ready to enjoy breakfast, and instead we were met with some of the rudest behavior I've ever seen in a business. We sat outside, away from the few people inside. My $7 bagel came out burned, and although they remade it, they acted like doing their job was an inconvenience. Quiche was mediocre. I asked for an ice water to go along with my iced latte and the owner pointed to the fridge and said there's bottled water as if I was annoying him. He said they don't have a filter for the tap. How does a coffee shop not provide ice water? Get a filter! After we had finished eating, we took a quick picture of the kids in the swinging chair on the front porch. The male owner came to the doorway and snapped at us for being "too loud." I told him, "They're children. He is 1 years old." and he fired back, "Keep them under control." When I said he must not have kids, he actually scoffed and said "No," as if the idea itself was beneath him. I told him we'd never return, and his wife loudly said from behind the counter inside, "Good!" and "We lost a customer because of you all!" The level of pettiness and hostility was shocking -- especially after we'd already spent a significant amount of money there. This place is run by owners who clearly do not like families, do not understand hospitality, and do not treat customers with even basic respect. There are plenty of places in St. Augustine that are warm, welcoming, and kind. This is absolutely not one of them.
