The avocado breakfast sandwich was delicious. It is really a BLT with avocado and egg on it. It hit all the right notes with the multigrain toast. It came with a side of fresh fruit which was very fresh. Finished with the cannoli bread pudding which was insanely good. Service was great and manager checked in to see how our meals were. Shoutout to our local community heroes! This is my favorite fried chicken place because it's such a juicy inside and flavorful crispy outside! I literally crave it! I have went to several locations of this restaurant chain and the consistency is amazing. Great hard working staff and great food choices!! It no wonder why they have so many locations. I try to get other things when I go, because I know that I have to wait patiently for my chicken... but I mostly know it's worth the wait. It is impossible that this restaurant has such a high score. Service was absolutely abysmal. Sitting here alone waiting for almost 40 minutes for a turkey plate, all I heard was other customers angrily arguing with the wait staff. The manager could not have been more rude. I heard the manager tell another customer, go get it yourself. The problem, they were completely monopolized with producing to go orders. Restaurant filled with seated customers with no food and full-time work filling to go. The manager is absolutely incompetent. Stopped in on a Tuesday morning for breakfast. I had no wait and was seated immediately. Staff greeted me at the door and said goodbye when I left. Had the meat lovers omelet, English muffin, cheesy grits, and coffee. Everything was very good. I'd say this was a pretty basic breakfast meal and it all was prepared to expectation. Nothing fancy. This is a small Metro Dinner compared to some others in the North Florida area. It was clean and neat inside. The service was good. Ambiance was typical of a diner, nothing fancy. Unfortunately, this place has really taken a nose dive. The pot pie was incredibly salty as if it came out of a can and had almost zero vegetables in it. When you go to order online, no matter what site is it does not give you a list of options to customize your meal. Upon ordering, I contacted the restaurant to ask for a different cheese in my grits and it came with a different cheese and not my request. I then called the restaurant. the server who answered was uninterested in listening to anything I had to say, and automatically put me on hold to speak to a manager. The unfortunate part is the manager was trying to be helpful, but didn't have an avenue for the public to reach out to upper management to have make a request to have online ordering adjusted or detailed better. Stopped by here on Easter Sunday while traveling alone. I knew it was going to be slammed but I got a seat right away at the counter. Despite being in the weeds the whole team was friendly and welcoming - my server was great and the folks working the line (which was fun to watch) were kind enough to say hello to me in the midst of the chaos. I got the Bissell breakfast. A ton of food for the money! The pancakes were a highlight, but all of it was good. Bacon was crispy, eggs were well cooked, hashbrowns were solid. Metro Diner is my go to for comfort food. We are doing a close-to-home vacation and I had had a rough morning and by lunch I wanted something that I knew wouldn't upset my tummy. I was thinking meat and potatoes- we had spotted Metro on our way into town the night before and that's what I sweetly asked John for (he couldn't resist). The dining room is a good size, we were sat right away and our drink orders taken right away. John and I decided to split their chicken pot pie- I mean, tell me that's not comfort food! He also ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup (again with something easy) and I asked for a biscuit on the side. I will admit- biscuits across this local chain aren't always top notch, it really depends on who is making them, this day- they were perfect! The chicken pot pie came out bubbling hot! We broke holes int he biscuit topping to let it vent and slowly blew on our spoonfuls while we dug in. It was so yummy. Carrots, peas, celery, chicken in a creamy base with a buttery biscuit topping. YUM! And our soup was also wonderful! I think our server's name was Erica- and she was fantastic. This was our first time at Metro Diner and it was fantastic! We both ordered eggs Benedict mine was traditional and my husband's had fried chicken. It was delicious and a good portion. The service was outstanding which is what probably makes us want to continue to return. Lexi was our server and she was absolutely excellent, from taking our order, refilling drinks, checking in on us and to checking us out with our bill. If you haven't been here, you should definitely check it out. There's plenty of seating and if there is a wait it isn't too long but worth the wait. read more

One person asked for catsup and mayo and it was never brought to them. I'm from Jacksonville and won't be going there again. I always get my go to meal the Brissell breakfast which allows you to pick your choice of eggs, has brown or grits, any meat (bacon, sausage link, sausage patty or Canadian ham) and a side of 2 pancakes. Omg it and understatement and here's proof that I clean my plate. My entire family cleaned their plate as well! I absolute love metro diner and recommend it over and over again to friends and family. We arrived at 11 AM on a Monday. Place was packed with 2 (larger) parties waiting. As only 2 people, we were seated immediately. Service was quick and correct. My husband had the classic burger with spicy fries. Burger was cooked perfectly - slightly pink, not rare and not well done. He said "delicious!" And the spicy fries were not too spicy. I ordered the philly cheese steak. First bite was a wonderful combination of onion, peppers and beef. The bread (roll) was soft and tasty. I asked for non-spicy fries and that's exactly what i was served. Hot to the center, well cooked and golden brown. I couldnt be happier. We noticed (about 1/2 way thru) the crowd was gone and there were a few empty tables. When we left there were groups waiting to be seated and people coming in. We went to Metro Diner in Palm Coast for dinner last night. I have had good experiences in the past and always good in Jacksonville, but last night was horrible!!! I ordered the Bissell breakfast with wheat toast and home fries. I was brought rye toast and hash browns instead. I asked for those to be replaced with what I had actually ordered. I was brought rye toast for a second time and the home fries. Also, pancakes were not fully cooked. The restaurant did not appear to be clean and smelled sour and the service was terrible. read more

I've been to a few different locations, and this one is excellent! The wait was oddly long for a Friday morning, but happily worth the wait. The menu is far smaller than I remember. The selections were really great though. My husband got the biscuits and gravy, which was tasty. My daughter's chicken for her chicken and waffles everyone found it to be excellent! We got to the Metro Diner yesterday at about 4:00pm, and hour before they closed. We were the only customers there. I ordered the Metro club sandwich and my husband ordered fish and chips. The whole time we were there they kept breaking down for the day. While waiting for our food, I could smell bread burning. Needless to say, I was disappointed when our food was brought to our table and the bread on my sandwich was burnt. A club sandwich should have lightly toasted bread. This sandwich was nearly inedible. I had to remove most of the bread and hold the filling with my fingers. Very messy to say the least. When I mentioned the burnt bread to our server, her only comment was, oh well. More than likely this will be our last time visiting this Metro Diner location. read more

This was by far the best experience in St. Augustine that I've had so far on my trip. We made a last minute decision to go out for dinner and the closest place open to our hotel was here. It was 710 in the evening and I was worried with them closing at 8 we wouldn't get the greatest food or service, I felt a little of a bother coming so late.... That wasn't the case at all. We were sat immediately and our waitress was Erica. She greeted us from a couple tables down and said she'd be right with us. She very very attentive, sweet and humorous. She provided the best service I've had anywhere in a long time. I ordered the chicken and waffles and got the spicy syrup. After a couple minutes a guy came from the kitchen letting us know it would be a few minutes on the chicken. He made it seem like it would be an issue with us, and offered something while we wait. The service was so fast and I expected it to take longer than the time he mentioned anyways. When I got the food it was plentiful and delicious. I started digging into it when they apologized I didn't get my thigh piece, which I hadn't even noticed or worried about. The food was delicious, hot, and well seasoned. I left stuffed. Again, this was the best experience I've had in St. Augustine. The service was EXCELLENT. The food was EXCELLENT. Everything here was EXCELLENT. Sorry for coming in late and being second to last to leave, thank you for still providing the same excellent service and food I assume you did from start to finish. She was too dense to not understand I didn't want a meat lovers bowl, then charged me for it, upcharged me for the bacon and didn't even get the order correct. Soaked the entire thing in hollandaise sauce, ruined the order and my appetite. Total rip off, it's more of a crime that I didn't just leave it there. I actually paid 13+ dollars for a nasty attitude, a ruined order, and wasted time. It'll be a while before I go back or recommend that trash dump to anybody. The bathrooms also looked like they belonged in a busted up 7/11. Awful establishment, management needs to be revised and the owner needs to pay better wages to attract mature adults. read more
