Stopped by Parlor Doughnuts in St. Augustine with high hopes, especially since I have enjoyed their donuts in the past but this visit was a bit of a mixed bag. The pumpkin iced cold brew was the most delicious this time. I ordered the Pumpkin Chai Cheesecake donut, which I was really excited about because it was amazing last year. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the same this time around. The flavor was still good, but there were large chunks of cream cheese throughout the donut that clearly weren't blended well. It threw off the texture and made it feel a bit rushed or uneven compared to how I remembered it. I have shown the picture compared to last year for reference. You can see the whipped cream and sprinkle from last year compared to the current one. It definitely missed the mark sadly. Service-wise, it also wasn't the best experience. Most of the staff felt a bit unfriendly and disengaged, like they didn't really want to be there. The only exception was one of the girls at the counter she was kind, attentive, and really the only one who seemed to care about the customer experience. All in all, it wasn't terrible. The donuts are still creative and worth trying but between the off texture of the donut and the lackluster service, it just didn't live up to expectations this time. read more

This is my first time at a parlor donuts shop. I was greeted upon arrival and quickly helped. My friend is gluten-free so she asked about their options. A friendly gentleman quickly pulled out a gluten-free menu for her to choose from and explained the options. We both ordered lattes and I ordered a couple layered donuts. My order: 2 layered donuts and a lavender latte came to just over $13. The restaurant was quiet with plenty places to sit. The lavender latte was lacking lavender flavor (I wondered if maybe they just forgot to add the lavender flavor honestly because it just tasted like a regular latte). The donuts were great and the service was even better. My only complaint was about the latte so that is why I am giving four out of five stars . read more

Whoa these donuts are so amazing and sort of glad they aren't near me and sort of sad they aren't near me. I would probably go often if they were close by because the donuts are so light, airy and yet full of flavor. We got a six pack of donuts and I split the with my husband, yes I'm Halfies and I loved them all except coconut cream. They one didn't wow me, it was mid. I will say the glazed was even good and if you can name a good glazed donut you know you can make a donut. I have gone on donut tours on vacation since my husband loves donuts as it's its favorite sweet item and these donuts are for sure in the top five. I will for sure be looking for them in other locations. They also served coffee and breakfast items so I did get. Blondie white and bacon tacos which were good. It is dangerous having this donut shop so close to me!! It is a large shop, so it tends to have plenty of seating-- though I typically just grab and go. The donuts are big, and I love the various flavors. Though sometimes the donuts can taste very similar since it's typically just the toppings that are varied. I love to grab a box of these if I'm driving out of town to meet up with friends for a weekend. Service is quick and friendly. Heads up, they can be on the pricier side. read more

Upon arrival I was greeted by a man who took my order - I asked what the gluten free options were & he showed me the laminated sheet (menu) where he handed me a marker to check off what base I wanted (vanilla or chocolate) & to write the quantity of each. I was informed by parlor doughnuts they only listed them as gluten friendly rather than gluten free due to the facility having regular flour around & thus cannot promise avoiding cross contamination completely. Although they did state they change gloves, are mindful & have a separate area / station for their gluten free donuts. It did take longer to receive my donuts than my friend who ordered regular donuts. Which is fine, it wasn't much longer & we weren't in a rush. I believe they were frosting them in the back on demand with the flavors / glaze I choose. They likely have the vanilla & chocolate GF bases stocked. I also ordered the coconut iced coffee. It was good. I'm not too picky with my coffee & pretty easy going with that. The Gluten Free Donuts are much smaller than the regular donuts, however it didn't impact the flavor. Most of the flavor comes from the glaze. They do crumble so it's best to use a knife to cut them into 4 pieces and pop one in your mouth at a time. We came at the end of the day when all the donuts had to live together on one shelf. The counter worker was gracious and told us what was left. We ended up with some tasty morsels. Chocolate, churro, peanut butter, raspberry and who knows? They were incredibly delicious. The outside is crispy but the inside is soft with some give. Hard to describe. But try these. I wish I got it, but I don't get it. Ok, it's more of a fusion pop-over / croissant foundation. It's whatever. But the toppings completely make this not a doughnut or even a cravable dessert. And I love unique toppings on a doughnut. I ordered bacon maple and it was a gloopy mess of drizzled syrup on top of a powdered sugared fusion bun with a beige icing that wanted very much to taste like maple but was knocked out by the syrup or agave or whatever they poured on top. Real bacon pieces on top, yep. But it needed ten more pieces to combat the diabetes-level amount of sweet stuff. The only relief I got was from putting it down after the second bite to make sure it was really that overwhelmingly sweet. It was. I do not recommend the maple bacon You'll undo your GLP-1 situation for the week if you order this gloop. The second I chose was "local" (key lime). Much better at muting the sweet sugar gloop attack. The lime curd was cravable. And that's about all. We did not finish either one. AS SOON AS WE WALKED IN, we were demanded of our order. Like, we were not afforded a literal five seconds to be able to see the availability in the glass shelving. Sorry, dude, I did not sit in my car for the past 15 minutes looking at the online choices that may not even be available. C-H-I-L-L. Not my vibe. These may just be my favorite donuts on the planet! I cannot say enough nice things about Parlor Donuts. I know I prefer to frequent local places that are not chains, but these donuts make me forgo my own mantra! This is a franchised location. The folks that own the St. Augustine location have five other locations in Florida, including the Parlor Donuts in World Golf Village. The staff at the St. Augustine location are personable and friendly. When we arrived at 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday, the display case was nearly empty. My companion thought he would just select from what was in the display case, but the counter person advised that anything on the menu of let's say 20 flavor combinations was available and would take only a few minutes to assemble. We ordered the Sandy Beach, Maple Pecan, Coconut Cream, Turtle, Bourbon Caramel and Chocolate-Chocolate. The donuts are made with layers of buttery dough and are sort of similar to a cronut visually. Fresh and oh so tasty. Parking in this strip center can be a bit of a challenge. On occasion, we have parked at the next block and walked over. Please don't let an empty display case deter you. There is a sandwich board menu as you walk in with all the flavors available that day. They will make you whatever you request. They're open til 1 pm Weekdays and 3 pm on Weekends. I love Parlor Doughnuts and we go off the beaten path to find them throughout the US. This location was an immediate disappointment. Long story short. I can only drink DECAF coffee due to heart issues. They had a sign that stated they had decaf brewed coffee. But, the barista said she had none. I asked for an Americana Decaf espresso. No go. We showed her the sign which she took and firmly placed it back where we found it (hubby thought she would want to pull the sign). My husband was so put off by her attitude he didn't order his regular coffee. We sat and ate our doughnuts when another barista asked if we would like decaf coffee. We said absolutely She gladly made it for us. We were shocked but pleased. Not sure why this happened but I'm not sure I'll parlay a special trip around Parlor again. Doughnuts were great, though. I went to this place to try the 6 new savory flavors. I arrived at 10:34. When I asked for the savory donuts, I was told by the sales clerk that they can't do that till 11. I requested to speak to a manager because why would they refuse a sale over 26 minutes. The manager just repeated what the clerk said. I was shocked that they would absolutely refuse a sale. The French toast one, which was my favorite, has this faux maple flavor frosting with cinnamon and sugar topping that is the most amazing sticky mess you'll have in all of your existence. I am actually grateful we do not live close to this place, that would be dangerous for me. All of the doughnuts seem to have the same base and then some type of topping or filling, so get whatever you prefer, you really can't go wrong. I believe I heard them say they make them fresh all day and if they run out of one they can whip it up for you! The minis however, once they're out they're out. One of the best custom doughnuts I've had. Not too sweet where your stomach hurts after, not too heavy but just right! Wife and i bought the strawberry shortcake and the caramel doughnuts. I think the strawberry one was better than the other but both were scrumptious. We also got coffee which was very enjoyable. Ambience gives off a military feel and being a veteran i enjoyed it. Very cute place! Customer service was friendly, kind, and helpful. My husband enjoyed his doughnuts very much. Me on the other hand, not so much. Their gluten-free donuts were very thick and crumbly, unlike their fluffy and crispy regular doughnuts. Soooo frustrated. I spent $12 on 3 gluten free doughnuts, took a few bites, and threw them away.
