This is a really cute bar/restaurant in Bed Stuy that I chose to go to for my birthday dinner. We started off with drinks since they offer an interesting selection of cocktails and many wines. I got the plum negroni which was really interesting/strong/yummy. For food, I got the meatballs and polenta, pictured. It was good- not really memorable. My friends got pizza which I tried and it was delicious. Really crispy crust with fresh toppings, so I wish I had gotten one. Overall good place I would come again! read more

For drinks we both got Rosemary Spritzes with their homemade rosemary syrup yummmm Downstairs they have a really cute speakesy SUONO with vintage Roman speaker system that the owner brought over from Italy. Loved this place. Named for Count Camillo Negroni, the Italian gentleman who invented the Negroni. They have the classic Negroni and a bunch of variations including one I tried as an artichoke Negroni. Delicious! Happy hour from 4:00 to 7:00 everyday where selected negronies are $10. I came here with my friend from out of town for dinner on New Year's Eve, and the food was amazing, but the service was not great. The waitress had a very negative, irritated attitude toward us, making us feel like burdens for dining there - and on a celebratory evening too! It was not busy AT ALL either - less than half of the restaurant was filled. I must recommend one dish: the eggplant parm (appetizer) was so incredible that I will probably have to go back just for that. However, I will not be repeating nor recommending anything else we ordered because I was not a fan of anything else. The food menu is pretty limited (they only have one pasta dish, which I ordered and didn't like), so be sure to carefully review it before dining. The ambience is definitely good inside, and there is a heated back courtyard seating area, but it was not anything wildly unique or special. read more

You have to get here in time for happy hour 5pm-7pm. They have $10 spritzes and $12 margherita pizzas. We decided to get gnocchi with sausage and fried zucchini as well. The zucchini was alright but the gnocchi was great. All around a great vibe and good food. Service was pretty good as well and we were loving the playlist which sounded like Amaarae radio on Spotify. Bar Camillo is a great neighborhood staple though the service can be a little slow at times. Our go tos are meatballs, salad and eggplant park appetizers. Their Roman style pinsas are great but the crust doesn't hold up well Togo- so enjoy them on site. The 90s hip-hop soundtrack is the cherry on top. read more

Cute spot in the neighborhood with a nice interior and covered backyard as well. The ambience was casual and pleasant with music at just the right volume to easily be able to hear each other speak. The menu had many tasty looking options, but I eventually decided to order the Salsiccia and Friarielli (sausage and broccoli rabe) pizza. Service was a bit slow, as it seemed they were quite understaffed in the front, but the kitchen was actually quite fast at getting our food out. When the pizza came out, it was actually a bit bigger than I expected which was nice, since I ended up taking a few slices home for a late-night snack. The pizza was quite tasty with a light and crispy crust and flavorful toppings. If I'm ever craving a gourmet pizza and a nice ambience to hang out and chat with friends, I will likely come back. read more

The food is great, but the service is not. The place is understaffed for the volume of people. And the one server is NOT helpful or friendly the two times I have been there, they cannot even explain the complex drinks on the menu, and seemed bothered to answer questions. During my last visit, the server told me and my friend that she would need the table to be open soon, essentially kicking us out. We had been there for 2 hours and had a bill of $100, and could have ordered another round of drinks, if we didn't feel SO uncomfortable after that. The server came back and asked if we wanted dessert, I said "no, doesn't seem like we have time" and asked for the check which she dropped, but took forever to take my card, so we ended up walking up to the front bar to pay. If the table was so "needed" why would she ask if we wanted dessert and then drop a check and leave us with it for so long that we had to go to the front bar to pay. This place is a huge dissapointment in terms of service. Whoever the owner is needs to get a 2nd server who knows how to interface with customers. The friend I was with the 2nd time is a writer for a food magazine.... but I don't think she could be bothered after the annoying treatment to write about this place. A true hidden gem in Brooklyn. A friend reccomended we go to this place and I followed her lead. It had a great quiet atmosphere making it perfect for a date spot. The outdoor area is covered so I regret not having booked there in fear of the reason, as it is a really cute space. The servers were very nice, quick and helpful. We were told the spritz drinks there are very unique and they did not disappoint. I got a saffron infused spritz that was very smooth with a unique flavor. I would definitely recommend it. We were on the same page in terms of food, so we got the mushroom white pizza and the lasagna, both of which were excellent. The unique pizza dough they tout lived up to the expectations. I don't know if this was the kind of pizza Aeneas and his people made when first settling in the Italian boot but for their sake I hope it was, because it was wonderful. A good, chewy, but not too chewy robust crust with real texture to it. The cheese was gruyere and so good, and the honey on top really gave it a pleasant but not overwhelming sweetness. The lasagna was also very dense and good, and unique. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a veggie lasagna this much before. For two mains, two drinks, and in Brooklyn, the bill came out to around $70 total, a surprisingly fair price. I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

I've only been for drinks. I love the Bedstuy area, so it lends to the ambience of the bar. The bartender was very knowledgeable,and allowed me to sample a few spirits. The cocktails were all sensational. I'll need to come back to try the pizza, which came highly recommended. read more

The decor is beautiful. I love that it also has the same menu as their Flatbush location on Nostrand ave. While there, I sat at the bar and the bartender was lovely. They gave good recommends and also efficiently juggled everyone at the bar and all of the back tables. I only had an Aperol Spritz and their Funghi Pisa but both were great. The Funghi Pisa was the only thing I ordered when I lived near the other location and I'm happy to report that the one at this Bed-Stuy location was just as good. Bartender very attentive asking how I was doing and if I needed anything (always appreciate that too!). My third time here and each time has been excellent. Went to the doctors and left out late on a Monday evening. Knew I wasn't going to want to cook once I got home so I looked up what was in the neighborhood and Bar Camillo popped up. I wanted to try their Camillo location on Nostrand for awhile so this was a perfect option. Ambience: very dim by the bar area. The small dining area is a little more lit but also very small. Can't imagine coming here on a weekend without a reservation. They also have a backyard area, where I was seated. I had a corner seat which was perfect because no one was around me (still get anxiety around Covid) Drinks: I had the plum Negroni and an Aperol Spritz. The Negroni was different, something I never had but tasty. The spritz was just okay. Maybe because I visited Italy early this Summer for the first time (June) and got the real deal so this didn't compare but still okay. Food: I ordered the Carciofi as an appetizer and the Lasagna for my main course. The Carciofi was very flavorful, would totally get that again. The lasagna was just okay. Nothing to rave about but decent. Service: The waitress was the only service person for the bar, the inside dining area and the back area and I don't know how she did it but she did an amazing job. I didn't get her name but 10/10 to her, for sure!! I'm still down to try their Nostrand location as I believe the menu is a bit more extensive. Great random night find for sure! read more

I imagine the backyard is a lot more fun in the summer but they do have heaters. The overall geometry is a very long restaurant. Large restroom and very very cozy standing/ sitting bar area in the front. They also have COVID cabins out front that see some use when the weather was warmer. We ordered: Salad, Foccacia, Chicken, Cod. Prices were more than reasonable. The salad and chicken were very good. Carrots were nicely cooked and the presentation was very appetizing for the chicken. I really appreciated how the rosemary bit into the mildness of the chicken. The cod was good just not for my taste in particular but my partner enjoyed it. Foccacia is enough to serve 3-4 people as an app so that was a mistake for one. (partner is gluten-free). The salad was a refreshing app because of the grape? was very contrasty to the oil and nut base over greens. Party in your mouth. The real star was the server/bartender who was basically doling out all the work for the entire place.... herself without missing a beat. Impressive no doubt. Without reservations, we (a party of two) were delighted to sit and enjoy a delicious cauliflower soufflé appetizer, a very well made gluten free mushroom, artichoke, and olive pizza, and a couple of finely crafted Negroni cocktails. We really enjoyed the ambience, and sitting so close to the two-top beside us was not as uncomfortable or distracting as you might think. The soft lighting and the light music vibe was really perfect and exactly what we were hoping for. All of the ingredients tasted very high quality, and the service was all very nice and polite. We enjoyed our experience here very much, and we would return, especially for dessert which we did not have time to order. The outdoor patio was heated and comfortable, but the lack of music made it too easy to hear other peoples conversations. Took my dad here when he came to visit because he's a picky eater who hates ALL Italian food, besides pizza. The beer and wine list is amazing. I love that they have wines on tap, which makes the glasses cheaper. We sat in the covered backyard, which is very cute with fairy lights and plants. I ordered the lasagna and my dad got the felino pizza. My lasagna was a perfect portion and crispy on the edges, just like I like it. It did have asparagus in it since it was in season at the time, which I didn't particularly love. The pizza was crispy and well-portioned. The toppings were fresh, as well. Their negronis are SO GOOD. I debated b/t classic and rye but glad I chose the former. Very gin-forward but delightfully balanced by the bitters; a beautiful warm color too. The pinsas have a deeply satisfying crispy texture, and both the Romana and Salsiccia have superb combinations of toppings. The red half of the Romana was my favorite. 3.5 is my official score. I came to Bar Camillo on a Monday at 7 without a reservation but I was still able to get a table for 3 in the covered & heated backyard dining. Not all tables get the same heat (or any). The table in the back left had no heat. A little unpleasant at first. I tried the Ginger Spritz it was nice and refreshing but I'll stick with Aperol spritz. For our meal we had the meatballs (polpette di manzo) , the artichokes (Carciofi), baked cacio & pepe and the seasonal pinsa special - all'Uccelletto which had pork sausage, Tuscan kale, cannellini & sage puree, tomatoes and mozzarella. I didn't love the pinsa special. It was lacking flavor and the after taste was chalky - weird for pizza, I know. I think that was due to the cannellini beans. The cacio e pepe was good not as peppery as I like and I was shocked to see that they used gentile pasta and not spaghetti. I'm also not a fan of artichokes BUT this was actually very tasty. Went to Bar Camillo for the first time on a whim for dinner Wednesday night. Had never been before and it's a local spot I had walked by before so I wanted to give it a try. We arrived around 8:00 PM without a reservation and were seated within about 15-20 minutes. I thought it might be quiet on a Wednesday, but while we were waiting someone else asked for a table and we realized 3 other couples were waiting after us! We sat in the back which was cute and romantic. It rained heavily during the meal which actually added to the atmosphere since we were protected by the transparent roof! It was warmer in the backyard than the inside which also looked nice but not uncomfortable as they had fans throughout. My partner and I noticed that it seemed like maybe a server called out; there was one guy literally doing everything from hosting to grabbing drinks to serving food etc. He was a champ! Service was still reasonably paced and I just couldn't believe how good this guy was. Despite doing a million things at once I still felt like he provided personal attention and was easy to get a hold of, like when we wanted the check. Pizza was nice and thin and crispy and filling! Was it the best pizza I've ever had? No, not necessarily. But I liked it overall and enjoyed the service and atmosphere. I had been wanting to try this place out for a while and one day was craving pasta, so I decided to go. I ordered the salsiccia & friarelli pizza and the pasta alla norma. I'm so glad that I last minute decided to order the pizza as it was, by far, the best part of the meal. Super tasty and seasoned well and you'll have more than enough to take home for a second meal. Regarding the pasta, to be honest, I kinda regret ordering it at all. It wasn't bad but was a little cold when it came out; it tasted like a reheated pasta of something you could make at home.
