This place is your old school filled with Italian families loud ambiance restaurant. I can definitely see why people say they come here for the vibes & experience versus the food. However, I personally didn't love how loud and overwhelming the restaurant was. The food was really subpar and not good. We got a variety of items to try, the mussels in marinara, stuffed mushrooms, rigatoni and a veal dish. Nothing was good lol. Everything was fine and the rigatoni was definitely the most disappointing considering it came in a pretty small portion and the sauce was not flavorful. Could easily replicate that at home. Overall, considering how much you're paying to eat here, I would not come here if you're looking for good food. I wouldn't recommend anything I had and I would go somewhere else to eat if you're looking for Italian. read more

This is your classic white tablecloth Italian restaurant and it was SO good. I didn't make a reservation but was able to luckily snag a table for 2 even though the restaurant was pretty full. The waitstaff were all very friendly and the vibe felt cozy. The food was delicious and served perfect portions. If you drive, they do offer a valet service for parking which is a nice option since street parking can get tricky in Brooklyn. I'll definitely be coming back in the future! read more

Bamonte's may have a rich history in Brooklyn, but, they certainly have much to learn in the way of customer service. Argumentative and snippy servers, and a floor manager (possibly an owner) that was condescending and argumentative towards a member of our table. Midway into our lunch, she followed up not to apologize for her poor service - but, only to enforce and remind our guest of the "no hat policy" as mentioned on their hardly-visible sign outside of the restaurant. Meanwhile, we noticed many customers sporting hats and hoodies while happily dining. As for the service; it's a poor system that lacks strong communication amongst the service staff. As customers, we felt confused and rushed by multiple servers that repeat the daily specials, bring out multiple menus - even though the table was full of them, and, ultimately served partially incorrect orders, including a soup that was not vegetarian friendly, even though the server confirmed it to be. There are few classic Italian restaurants left in Brooklyn, but this one is going strong! Excellent pasta and red sauce, a friendly waitstaff and lots of decor from the 1960-1980's. There is even an old pay phone you can use. We had a great meal and experience here and would go back! The chicken parmigiana was the ideal taste, texture, and size for the price. The chicken cacciatore was flavorful and tender, with just enough spices to keep it unique. And the stuffed mushrooms were large and not overwhelmed by the breaded stuffing. The people-watching here is the best part of this whole experience. Because it is INDEED an experience. It's as if, once you walk through those doors, you've entered a time capsule with full-on track jump suits with matching gym shoes, pinky rings, bumpits for the ladies and slicked back helmets for the men. Nobody dare wear a hat inside! There's definitely tradition here but on an old school level... but that's Bamonte's! This is also NOT the place where you can expect to find a wine list. IMO that's backwards for an Italian restaurant, but that's Bamonte's. "Tell me what you like and I'll bring it" = our server. We ordered a montepulciano wine and I truly have no idea what the label was, where it was from or how much it cost. I don't love that... but that's Bamonte's! We were a table of four. We had reservations and we were greeted by "the lady of the house" who seemed to be one of the owners if not the owner. A lovely lady who guided us to our table and wished us bon appétit.. We started out with a cold appetizer plate. It was very good. The cheeses were fresh and tasty. The meats were fresh and also very delicious included roasted peppers and olives. We ordered our drinks and entrées. Of the four of us two ordered linguine with white clam sauce. I ordered chicken scarpariello and there was also an order of flounder oreganata . I must say that our friends were completely disappointed in the linguine with white clam sauce. There were no whole clams on the dish. It was a relatively small bowl of pasta and basically seemed like canned chopped or diced clams. They were totally disappointed. My chicken dish consisted of chicken on the bone which was overcooked thin sausage, which was again, overcooked and dry, the sauce was somewhat disappointing, and I would not rate it very good compared to same dish I have had at other Italian restaurants. The flounder oreganata was given a thumbs up however, that particular dish is very simple to prepare and and cook.. The four of us felt it was overrated and rather expensive, considering the fact that we were all disappointed. Would any of us travel to Brooklyn again to go to Bamonte's ? probably not. The staff was very professional and courteous throughout the evening. The atmosphere was pleasant, but extremely noisy. let me start this review by saying the ambience at Bamonte is classic and really old school. That being said, the food is barely average at best. I started with baked clams which the breading was tasty, but the clam was just mushy and not the best quality,the Italian arugula salad was good but the main course chicken Parm tasted like they bought the cutlets already premade and just added sauce and cheese to them. The side which cannot be substituted were actually really good sauté green beans and olive oil and garlic and really weird Can't describe I don't even know potatoes ,just not good. One other thing I've been to a lot of restaurants in my life and this is possibly the most expensive wine markup I've ever seen. If you want to eat Italian cuisine with a good atmosphere and decor that looks straight out of The Godfather, then Bamonte's your spot. I can't get over how classic the restaurant looks and they've done an excellent job with upkeep. My date and I started off with drinks. I got a Manhattan, while she ordered a pomegranate martini. Both were really good and the Manhattan was certainly strong enough. We then ordered the fried calamari, spaghetti and meatballs, and the chicken parmigiana. The fried calamari was good, although it wasn't as crispy as I thought it should be. The marinara sauce it came with was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. My spaghetti and meatballs was okay. I like the pasta and the sauce, but the meatballs were on the drier side. I think if the meatballs were juicier, I would've bumped this review up to 5 stars. The chicken parmigiana was definitely the highlight of the night and I was a bit jealous that my date ordered the right item off the menu. The chicken was juicy and thinly breaded just right to give it a nice crisp. The cheese was melted perfectly and was almost like a liquid when it first came out. Each bite was filled with cheesy, melty goodness. Overall, I would come back try something else on their menu and see if it was better than the spaghetti and meatball. And the service and decor were incredible given the mobbed dining room. Price was really fair, we ate like champions for ~$100 each which included: - hot antipasto (baked clams, stuffed mushrooms, eggplant rollatini) peppers, garlic bread - orders of mussels, very good sauce - a mozz spiedini of sorts - pasta course of rigatoni broccoli rape with sausage, lasagna and ravioli - sides of string beans and potatoes - for entrees we slowed down, about one main per three guys- I was all for fish. We had the monkfish, broiled flounder, branzino, and the stuffed bluefish special. All were good. Pork chops looked good to, my friend ordered and finished them all! Hmmmm it is New Year's Eve but we went early. Regular menu not super crowded till we left. Can you please seat me at the worst table in the house ? Yes we can thank you. Direct view into the kitchen. My boyfriend and I were enjoying a day in Brooklyn and actually tried to get a table at lilias but as expected they were fully booked. Being that he knows the area well he decided to take me to bamonte for our date night. Upon entering you feel like you're in an old film given the lighting, the way the staff was dressed and the interior. I will say the hostess's was a bit rude but I'm sure it wasn't with those intentions as she couldn't hear me with my mask on asking for table for two. I do want to point out that the staff did not have masks on and didn't see a sanitize area. For starters we each had a glass of white Pinot Grigio with baked clams with complimentary bread. For our entree (we shared) we ordered baked ziti, pork chop parmigiana, and linguine in clam sauce. The servings were great for us as we had enough to take home since we clearly couldn't finish it all. Everything to me was cooked perfectly but my company said he's had better lol. the means were very traditional and good to me, my personal favorite was the linguini. Over all I would definitely come back and try more options. I loved the atmosphere and how traditional it was. There were lots of Italian families present celebrating birthdays and anniversary's so It clicked to me that this is a good go to family spot. read more

I'm giving 5 stars for two reasons. First, they absolutely deserve more than a 4 star review. Second, it doesn't get much better than this. The food, service, decor, all amazing, and the prices are very reasonable. I haven't been to Bamonte's in a very long time. I'm so glad to see that not much has changed. The restaurant was packed at 6:00 PM on a Saturday night. The bar was also full. The open kitchen was pumping out dishes non stop like a factory. Had a reservation, and didn't wait to be seated. If you're looking for an old school Italian restaurant in the heart of Williamsburg thats true to it's heritage, look no further than Bamonte's! We made a reservation for dinner at 7 on a Thursday for two which is recommended because this restaurant was packed! When you arrive you enter the bar area where people are waiting to be seated. We found the hostess and after she confirmed our reservation she sat us down. This restaurant has white table cloth over the tables and old Italian servers in tuxedos who are carrying several plates as a time. When it came time for us to order we went with the veal parmesan and the classic spaghetti and meatballs. They also serve table bread which was tasty in itself. Overall I'd recommend coming here if you're looking for a no frills old school Italian restaurant that's chop full of history I'd recommend coming here. FYI bar is cash only! read more

Yikes. Would have loved to give this a better rating. So to preface, I almost never include service as a part of the rating and will not here; it was fine. I sifted through Yelp reviews to look for reoccurring "favorites" and settled on the Eggplant Rollatini and Pork Chops alla Bomante. Eggplant Rollatini: super basic, not bad but nothing incredible, really unsure why this was given so much praise by one reviewer. I understand this is Italian American fare, and appreciate the marinara, but there was not much to the dish. Per usual, the eggplant is entirely covered up, taste-wise, and you're left with copious amounts of ricotta. If that's your thing, cool, but this really was a super basic, standard app. Pork Chops alla Bomante: I was lead to believe these would be super tender. They were not. Pork chops are tough to get tender, or rather, they tend to be tough (see what i did there). So that claim by another reviewer proved to be false. The vinegar peppers were the best part. The accompanying potatoes actually had the best flavor of the entire meal. The green beans beside it were inedible. I actually considered spitting them out. Mushy green beans take me back to many bad childhood meals, so maybe my own trauma came into play here, but they were utterly awful. Normally I don't count decor, but if I did, I might add a star.
