This was a really nice spot for a birthday dinner. Had upscale vibes without any pretension. Everything looked so good the moment it arrived in the table we dug in. We DEMOLISHED the eggplant before I even thought to take a photo. Dishes were plated very nicely. The flavors were so good, as someone who doesn't always like Italian I was scraping sauce from the plate. Overall would recommend. Got a couple of pizzas and the sesame bread Food was fine, but what really made it awful was incredibly lazy and rude service from Jonathan W (according to the receipt) - who couldn't have cared less, didnt know what was in the one dish I asked him about, didn't stop by at all in between taking the order to check on us, and oddly and very rudely slapping the check at our table without saying a word after we had to flag somebody else down to ask for it. Came here for dinner the other day with friends and loved it! We tried a few things - the honey ricotta, fennel salad, tomato and watermelon salad, margherita pizza, and black shells with calamari. The ricotta was great and paired incredibly well with the sesame/olive oily toasted bread. Loved how refreshing the tomato and watermelon salad was and loved the apples in the fennel salad. The wood-fired pizza was good though I'm curious about some of the other flavors. AND, I was a big fan of the black shells - the seafood was cooked perfectly! The patio and outdoor seating are lovely though I will say you'll hear the noises of Williamsburg and many a crowd passing through to get to Westlight presumably. The one tiny issue was the bug bites I acquired but I'm fairly sure that's a me problem...Service was timely and great! For dessert, we tried both the gelato sandwich and the pistachio cake with gelato (topped with olive oil) and the cake was definitely my favorite. The sandwich was good though the laminated/croissant-like dough was a little tough to cut through once a little cooler so maybe less of a shareable item and a good solo sweet instead? read more

Decent food. It wasn't like the best Italian food I have ever had but it was good. Branzino was cooked perfectly. Steak was decent quality, but not worth the price tag. Pasta was also decent. Me and my friend got grilled octopus, the mushroom pasta and bucatini for dinner. The octopus was so meaty and the sauce that came with it was very yummy. The mushroom pasta was our fav dish of the night. The fresh pasta has such a good chew and the sauce was very light but flavorful! I came here for the Dining in the Dark special event through Fever. The restaurant is lovely with warm lighting and beautifully painted walls. It is quite spacious, and has several different sections for dining, including a small enclosed room where Dining in the Dark took place. The concierge at the front door who helped us find the location of the event was super kind and graciously helped my mom down the steps when he noticed her moving slowly. For Dining in the Dark, you can choose to have a Meat, Seafood, or Vegan three course meal. I went with the Vegan option. Other than that selection, you are told nothing about what you will eat. A colored artificial candle is placed at each person's table setting so that the waiters know what to serve to each person. An adjustable blindfold is provided that you can take with you after the event. An MC introduces the experience and encourages guests to keep the blindfold on for the entire meal, focus on your senses, and savor the food. She also came around to take pictures of guests with their blindfolds if they wanted to. All of the food was decently flavorful, but I wasn't wowed. The Vegan menu included some form of dumplings to start, veggie orecchiette pasta with broccoli rabe and beans for the main, and a pear dessert with sorbet to finish. The blindfold did a good job of fully blocking your vision, even if you opened your eyes underneath. Everything was fairly easy to eat. The appetizer could be picked up by hand. You could order drinks for an additional charge. I had the Mama Ricca cocktail. It was tasty and perfectly sweet. They also have signature mocktails for those who don't want alcohol. At the end of the meal, they reveal what you ate. Though they read off the main ingredients, I would have loved if they showed what each of the dishes actually looked like. It was fun for the novelty. It would be a good option for date night or a group activity. read more

My coworkers and I came here for a work event. The place itself is beautiful and much more fancy than I expected. Extremely spacious, nicely decorated, they have a lot of seating - great for big groups and small groups (they have bar up in the front). We got a pre-fixed menu and the staff was extremely attentive and nice. The drinks were pretty good - I got the Mamma Ricco which is a great drink if you are in the mood for something sweet. The Giardino D'Leuca was meh in my opinion, had a very interesting after taste. For food - we tried out: -Sheep's Milk Ricotta: absolutely delicious, highly recommend this. So creamy and sweet and went so well with the bread. -Spring Vegetable Insalata: Not bad but pretty standard salad in my opinion -Crispy potatos: Also delicious, highly recommend; very flavorful -Chicken Rosalina: Surprisingly good, I did not have high expectation for this dish but the chicken was very tender and flavorful -Grilled Branzino: Was just okay in my opinion, but I am not a huge fan of fish -Sicilian Pistachio Cake & Olive Oil Gelato: Would pass on this; the olive oil gelato def grew on me but the cake was more on the drier side. Amazing pasta from the Spaghetti king, it was the ambiance that lost a star. My wife picked me up and we drove to Brooklyn for dinner. When I made the reservation, it said "Inside or Outside?" Um.. inside please and thank you? Leuca is located inside The William Vale hotel, It's dark outside so I can't see the beautiful grounds. The outside area means the bar - dining area where its brightly lit. We were escorted into the main dining room. The room is dimly lit and there is a two piece band setting up for extra sexy time. The menu looks amazing, I immediately zero'd in on the Bucatini. My wife usually gets a fish dish but tonight she chose the chicken. Drinks are in order, for this evening they have a special smoked Bourbon cocktail. Sold! For a starter I ordered the grilled Ocotpus. Soooo good! My pasta comes to me, there's a little heat to this dish! Bucatini is my favorite, homemade Bucatini from Chef Andrew Carmellini is a game changer. Made with Calabrian Chili and these small Manila Clams, this was a fantastic and flavorful dish. So why four stars? The band! These idiots, that ain't workin', that's the way you do it. They were loud, close to us and plunkin' away at something. Every note was getting on my nerves. Also, can you turn up the lights? I swear, by the time my Affogato came, i had to use my fake table candle to see the dish. Another great restaurtant by Chef Andrew Carmellini, my favorite has been Rec Pier Chop House in Baltimore. Do recommend. $21 sheep's milk ricotta was delicate and tasty. Great teaser for your taste buds. You will lick the plate clean with that toasted bread. $48 pork shank was the bomb--huge portion perfect to share between 2-3 people. What a perfectly executed dish--possibly the best pork shank I've ever had [and I've had many]. The crispy skin was to die for. The meat was so tender, it fell off the bone at the first touch. The sauce was magnificent--so refreshing, it contrasted with the savory, fatty, rich meat, bringing out the meat's best taste profile. Truly a masterpiece of a dish. Highly recommend. $14 Pistachio cake was underwhelming and dry. Looks so pretty but is completely bland and disappointing. What a waste. Dessert is not this restaurant's strong forte. Skip and get dessert somewhere else. Cocktails were superb (as they should be at $18 a small pop). Sette Spritz and Mamma Ricco were standouts. So well balanced--enough of quality alcohol to make you slightly dizzy, but in a perfect way that you want right before dinner. Great balance between sour and salty and sweet and bitter. I always loved the interior of this space but happy they added the outdoor option as well. Came here for Sunday brunch and happy with the whole experience. We ordered the following: Wood-Fired Pizza- with pistachio, pesto, pork sausage and fennel pollen; southern Italian benedict with crispy pepperoni, pane Siciliano, hollandaise and kale; cheeps milk ricotta with hot honey and garlic with garlic bread; Black Tonnarelli with ruby shrimp and local calamari. I looooved the ricotta. Great mix of flavors. My next favorite was the pasta or the pizza, Honestly everything was delish surprisingly since it was a debut of a new menu. It's not often a restaurant's food wows me or stands out. Leuca absolutely wowed me and not a place I will forget. The second I walked in, the space, the interior, the design and architecture of the restaurant was very beautiful. Very clean, sleek, and just about the perfect setting for practically every occasion. The octopus had a great charred crisp on it. I definitely wasn't expecting that. The creamy sauce it was sitting on was delicious, we were dipping our bread into that sauce and the broth in the clams and mussels appetizer. The branzino had a light crunch and was juicy and tender. The duck was cooked perfectly, with the perfect light pink shade in the middle. The fruit mostardo sauce that the duck was sitting on was delicious. Our favorite was the pork shank. It was so beautiful just to look at. The chef came out personally to pour the spicy caper honey sauce on it. It was so tender, juicy, crispy and flavorful. Every bite was so satisfying and we couldn't stop complimenting that dish amongst ourselves. The squid ink pasta with shrimp and calamari was also very good. Spent the day at The William Vale on July 3rd, dined at Leuca for lunch and dinner. The restaurant & bar are closed from 4-5pm as they turnover for dinner. Lunch service was extremely slow, waitress forgot some of our drinks. Dinner service was a lot better. Pizzas were really good. The tuna crudo was very tasty. Didn't care for the lamb pasta, the shrimp pasta is the way to go! We asked for it to be spicy and it was perfect. Highly recommend the ricotta appetizer and the crispy potatoes as a side. We spent our Thanksgiving dinner at Leuca. NOT impressed. The service was lackluster. I let the waiter know I have a serious allergy to Gorgonzola. Our salads (with optional gorgonzola) were never served. The waiter brought my beets w/o Parmesan and it took another 30 minutes for my family to get their beets with the Parmesan. There was only one desert option and it was a low quality pumpkin pie. When the check arrived, there was a $40 overcharge on the price-fixe line item. Our family meal was so thoroughly disappointing. I spent almost $700 treating my family to a bad experience. I've been in customer service for over 40 years and am forgiving, as unexpected things do happen on occasion. This was different. It was the worst dining experience I have had in 10 years, w/out exaggeration! read more

This used to be a favorite spot of mine to frequent. I'm not really keen to go back too often now. The experience I had recently put me off the place even more. I met some friends here for dinner and drinks. One of my friends and I want to try the 'Joey C' pizza. Unbeknownst to us, the basil that was mentioned in the description is actually a pesto, not basil leaves... I ask the bartender Miguel if that is indeed pesto on the pizza, he says yes. I tell him that the description of the pizza on the menu does not say that, and that is not good because I'm allergic to nuts. He doesn't even apologize or try to rectify the mistake. He just keeps doing his tasks behind the bar. I tell him to please take the pizza back as the description was inaccurate and it apparently contains nuts. He comes back 10 minutes later and says that he checked with the chef and that the pesto is nut-free. With complete miscommunication and absence of any apology whatsoever still on his part or the chef's, I don't trust that the pesto within the pizza doesn't have nuts. I ask him again for the second time to please take the pizza away. The way the whole situation was handled was abysmal and scary for people who have food allergies. They need to label their menus more accurately when it comes to what is in their dishes. And because I voiced my concern and complained, thereafter Miguel under poured my wine while pouring more for my friends from the bottle we were all sharing. Had the absolute privilege of dining here Christmas Eve for their Feast of the 7 Fishes Prix Fixe. This is possibly the best fine dining food-wise in recent memory and the fact that it was with a fixed menu during the holidays makes it even more incredible that they could pull it off so flawlessly. Every course was beyond delectable. Starting with the uni butter, which was complex, silky and potentially has spoiled me for all other butters for a lifetime, all the way to the branzino, filleted with a perfectly crispy skin and decadent buttery inside. The bread looked charred and crispy, but to my utter surprise, was super soft and impossible to put down. I thought the cod spread may have been a miss at first, seemingly under-salted; but if eaten on its own instead of slathered on bread, it hit all the right notes. Crab diavolo had the perfect hint of spice and even the broccoli rabe was possibly the best preparation of that vegetable that I have ever had. Tons of food - our party of 5 ended up packing half of the vegetables, half of the pasta and half of the fish - and ALL of the dessert. So it was pricy, but in the grand scheme of things, not at all unreasonable for the amount and quality of the meal. I have no idea how the regular menu is, but I'm hoping that they do this every year so I can make it a new Christmas Eve tradition. Came here for a early dinner before a work event. Upon arrival it was a very calm and inviting atmosphere with a beautiful front bar. The seating area is filled with big bold black and white portraits of a child . Not too sure what the theming is with that but it's kind of cool. Our waiter was prompt and made our ordering experience effortless adding his personal favorites and catering to what I could eat within my shellfish allergy. Made a reservation here on Christmas day for two people. The restaurant is attached to a hotel and is basement level. Got our table quickly without many people around on an early evening. Started off with the Ricotta and Bread ($21) - albeit expensive, the taste is phenomenal. Well toasted thick bread, served alongside a rich whipped ricotta spread with a slight sweetness. Also tried the Marinated Olives (9) that are your basic starter. For the main course, ordered the Branzino ($39) - a filetted fish on top of cous cous with veggies on top. Fish is great, the sides are nominal overall. Service was good and the place wasn't too packed for a holiday. Prices are definitely high, so not a place that can be visited often. read more

Located inside the William vale hotel serves delicious and flavorful Italian dishes. Due to the experience we weren't told was to be served as our sensory smell and touch had to do the work. Host was super sweet and guided you through the 3 course. These dishes are sold in the restaurant's menu as well, therefore I would highly recommend this restaurant for the experience or just dining. Food was great! The menu is relatively short but that means they're able to focus on perfecting what they're good at. I wish I could give them a higher rating, but a number of things didn't quite hit during my visit there. A group of us met there to celebrate a friend's birthday. I arrived about a half-hour early so I sat outside and had a glass of wine while I listened to the live band. As our reservation time drew closer, I tried to get the server's attention and close my check before the rest of my party arrived so that they wouldn't have to wait for me when our table was ready. So much for that plan. The short story of this long night is that the food was good, the drinks were good, but service was excruciatingly slow. Something was off with the pizza oven that night, so they burnt my pizza twice and then comped me with a menu item of my choice. I should have had the pork chop, which I was admiring, and which the birthday friend ordered and shared with me while I waited for my failed meal, and which was delicious, but it was the most expensive thing on the menu and so responsibly I chose the Lamb Bolognese. It was fine, but not the sort of reward that the night called for. We had a birthday cake that we provided ourselves, and waited a very long time for the plates and a knife to cut it with. From seating to paying our check, we were there well over 3 hours and missed our reservation for the rooftop bar (we still went up for about an hour and it was amazing). Maybe they just had an off night. I wouldn't not go back, but it's a long way from uptown so I can't say when. read more
