A friend brought me here for a dinner since I've never heard or been but i'm so glad they did because it was so good! The only part I thought was stressful because you order at the counter and then bring your food to a table or counter but it's a first come first serve type of place so we were just waiting around a bit to find a table. Food however came pretty quickly and was so good and affordable!
I love Forma Pasta! Any time I go to greenpoint and the weather is nice, my girlfriend and I hit up forma pasta, take it to-go, and eat it in McCaren Park. The pasta is all handmade and absolutely delicious. The prices are very fair considering other restaurants charge an absurd amount for the same thing. The sauce is a hit for every dish! Service is always delightful. The seating is first come first serve after you order - can be tricky with a larger group since it's a small spot!
If you're looking for a fast and affordable pasta meal, this is a great spot for you. Their pastas range from $15 to $20 for a decent-sized portion, and they come with a side of bread. I've had many different options, and they're all solid, but by far my favorite is the Saturday special, which is a braised beef pasta with green onions. The beef is cooked perfectly, and the onions add a nice flavor to the rest of the rich meal. The lines can get pretty long, but service is fast. The seating arrangement inside can be a little crowded, but getting a seat outside on a nice day is an experience.
Forma is such a great Greenpoint establishment for a casual night out with friends. The affordable price, kind servers, and gluten free friendly menu mean I'll definitely be coming back. Do note that the restaurant is pretty small so it might be nice to get the pasta and apps to go if you're in a bigger group. The orecchiette sauce was the biggest standout for me. I don't normally like that type of pasta, but this sauce was creamy and flavorful and the sausage was tender and not dry at all. The only bummer is the gluten free pasta shape of the day was spaghetti only, but the sauce still clung nicely to the pasta shape. The pesto was fresh and yummy but just a little undersalted for my taste. The apps we ordered were all a bit smaller than expected, but filled us up nonetheless. The standout was the eggplant parm, but the cauliflower was well-cooked and nicely seasoned as well and the meatballs were excitingly gluten free friendly.
Good spot! Heard some Italians next to me speaking--gotta be a good sign right? Overall, nice flavors. For pretty inexpensive Italian pasta, not bad. Not earth shattering flavor or wow but great. A nice spot. The fettuccine funghi was my fav and bolognese grew on me. Both are great in tandem over the same table. Fun to switch between. Loved the mushrooms. The side of shrimp was tasty. Firm shrimp. Tails on. The bread is complimentary but nothing amazing. Nice to dip with though so it is appreciated. A better focaccia would be best.

Because the pasta was tasty, quick and affordable. --- --- --- I knew I definitely wanted to try some pasta while in New York, and it just happened to work out that Forma was a place I had already bookmarked and my friend that I was with really loved it, so the decision to come here was an easy one. There are a few different options available - you order at the counter, take a number, and they bring it to your table when it's ready. I ordered the Arancini as an appetizer, the pipette ragu as my main and the tiramisu as my dessert. My friend went with the Fettuccine Funghi. I found all of it to nail 4-stars on the head. Enjoyable. Tasty. Not bad, not life-changing. But the best part was the price, which was very anti-New York. If I were a local, I think this would be a regular place I'd visit for the price and convenience alone. If you are visiting New York and want some amazing Italian food, you may want to consider other options.
Absolutely delicious pasta and it was served quite quickly! Came with this tasty bread on the side which I couldn't get enough of. The space was pretty congested when we visited but we were still able to find a spot to sit and enjoy the food. I would love to return to try the other dishes! Part of me wishes there was a more "build your own" type of option where you could choose the pasta, meat, etc. from the ground up instead of only being able to choose from the completed dishes that are available with very minor modifications allowed, but I still enjoyed my food!
The pasta was made in house, but I'm not sure how the pasta is made since it still causes a little bit of bloating. So maybe a little salty. But the texture and flavors were good. The food came out pretty quickly and the outdoor seating was beautiful! The food also came with free focaccia bread so that was a nice touch. But you do have to clear off the table yourself so it made me wonder if we still tip in this situation since you order, pay, then sit down, but somebody brings your food, but then you get your own water/utensils, and you clean your own table. So I was a little confused by that.
Tl;dr: Solid, casual pasta shop if you're in the area. Little cramped on seating if it's busy. Came on a weekday evening (around 8:30pm) and it was packed. Kitchen was pretty backed up and it took almost 30min to get our pasta which was a bit annoying. However, they did give us some focaccia while we were waiting and some more once our pasta came out. Focaccia was nice and fluffy. The ragu I got was also good. Nice and creamy. Wished there was a bit more sausage with it, but otherwise solid place for a casual bite.
I thought this place was both tasty and a great value considering prices of everything these days. I especially liked the texture of the Mafalde pasta. The shrimps could have been slightly bigger but the scampi sauce was quite different than most since it had a little marinara in it. The pesto was outstanding, but needed a protein on the side so got some grilled chicken which was small but cooked perfectly. I'd definitely go back to try some of their other pastas.
This spot is tucked behind a really busy corner café, so it's easy to miss if you don't know where to look. The layout is long and narrow, which can feel a little tricky to move around when it's crowded, but I came around 2 PM and it wasn't very busy. There are tables along the sides as well as in the back. My friend and I sat in the back under a nice skylight, which gave the space some charm. The seating is on the lower side, which was fine for us since we're both shorter, but I could see it being uncomfortable for taller people -- in that case, sitting toward the front might be better. I was torn between the pesto and the ragu, so I asked for a recommendation. The worker immediately suggested the ragu, and I went with that, upgrading to the lunch combo for an added salad and focaccia bread. I also got a Sprite. My friend ordered the scampi, also as part of the combo. My total came out to around \$20, which felt fair for a sit-down lunch. The food came out fairly quickly. The salad, however, wasn't worth the upgrade -- it just tasted like plain spring mix tossed in olive oil, and didn't really add much to the meal. The focaccia bread, on the other hand, was amazing. Warm, fluffy, and flavorful, it was something I'd happily order on its own next time. The ragu was easily the highlight of the meal. Rich, hearty, and perfectly balanced, it was one of those dishes that you keep thinking about after. I'm glad I trusted the recommendation because it was a fantastic choice. If I lived closer, I'd probably eat it far too often. My friend's scampi, however, had an overpowering lemon flavor. It wasn't bad, but the strong citrus made it harder to enjoy, especially compared to how perfect the ragu was. I've also come in the past and ordered the Pipette Ragu ($14) and Fettuccine Funghi ($14). All the pasta I tried were cooked well, had amazing toppings, and delicious. My favorite was the ragu, but the fettuccine and bolognese are close seconds. The Friday special was good too, but was not as flavorful. The service is great too, but there's not too much seating inside. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you're looking for good quality and tasting pasta for a solid price.
I think I've had most of the menu here. The food is always amazing and fresh. I absolutely love it! My favorite pasta here is the Malfaldine Scampi! 10s across the board. The meatballs are also excellent. And I enjoy their cauliflower. Recently I've had 2 of their Chef's Pasta, their Fettuccine Funghi, and Chitarra. All were excellent! The prices are definitely worth it.

Always a hit. Pasta tastes very fresh, and the sauce is delicious. Came by Thursday ~6 PM before a concert at Barclays Center, and there was a bit of a line but it moved quickly. There was a longer wait to actually get our food. Limited indoor seating; we were able to grab a table outside immediately but had to wait a bit before grabbing four of the bar seats. read more
Great above casual spot for a quick bite! We tried the mafaldine scampi and the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. The scampi was delicious and not heavy at all. Paired with their $6 wine offering, it made for a perfect light(ish) dinner. In the words of my man, "the rigatoni was fire." Wasn't too spicy. The texture of both pastas was great--really allowed the sauce to coat the noodles. This spot is better for pairs, maybe a group of 4 at most. Definitely pretty narrow, but cool seeing them cook in the open kitchen. read more

Forma Pasta Factory deserves all the hype. The pasta is delicious, the service is stellar, and the prices are still reasonable for the quality you get. The place is busy but service is quick and efficient. To order, you get in line, pay up front, pick up a number and they'll bring your order to your table. Most of the interior tables are for two but one of the service staff helped us secure an outdoor table when she saw us crowding around a two-seater. The same server also made sure that we got free bread and checked in on us to make sure everything was great. For "fast casual", the level of service provided is restaurant quality. The pastas we tried were all fresh, al dente, served piping hot and were super flavorful. My friend, who is gluten free, really enjoyed her mafaldine scampi with gluten free pasta. My partner and I tried the pappardelle bolognese and fettuccine funghi pastas. While the mushroom fettuccine was pretty flavorful, the pappardelle bolognese was the best pasta I had in a while. And for 14 dollars? No wonder everyone is lining up for this place. To end the meal, we all shared the panna cotta which was so creamy we all wondered what type of milk they used. It was also the perfect sweetness with the raspberry syrup on top. Hell, I've paid double the price I pay at Forma to get pasta and dessert that is nowhere near as good. I'm almost mad I didn't discover Forma earlier. Now I'm hooked and will be back to try the specials and the pipette ragu. read more

This food is really good for the price. Service is great - they are patient and will make recommendations if necessary. No complaints- good, affordable food that doesn't make you feel terrible after is always a win read more
fast, casual, and delicious. i love coming here on the weekend with and grabbing a bite to go or even sitting down. everytime i come its always super packed and everyone is working super hard to keep up with the high demand. its hard to find a place thats better with the speed, quality, and price thats offered here. if you live in the neighborhood this for sure has to be a go to spot! (i love coming here for their saturday special pasta instant hangover cure haha) read more
I heard many great things about this place and knew that it would be too crowded on a weekend, so I stopped by with a friend for a weekday lunch. The store feels home-y and small. But on a weekday, there are tables up for grab right away. It was a nice day, so some people were even dining outside. When dining in, you order first at the counter and they give you a number to place on your selected table. They will serve you when it's ready. My friend and I both opted for the lunch special which comes with a pasta (non-speciality) & side salad. They also offer complimentary focaccia bread, which was nice. I personally chose to get: GEM SALAD - It has a vinaigrette sauce, so the salad feels nice & light. I'm not a fan of too much lemon in my salad, but it had just the right amount of tanginess to it. BOLOGNESE The presentation and portion is great. Although it may not look like a lot, it did fill me up. I did like the tomato sauce that they used. My friend explained that it kinda taste like Chef Boyardee - to which I kinda agree, but to a much elevated level! Overall, I really enjoyed my first visit here. I personally like Italian food and having an experience where your noodles and pasta base is individualized is nice. They make their pastas well. So, I would recommend for a casual dining experience where you just crave pasta. read more

Came here late Saturday afternoon, it was pretty busy but still some seats. This is my first time coming here, I heard great things online and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the pipette ragu and fettuccine funghi, both were delicious and tasted really fresh. Both were packed with flavor. They do have a lunch special going on for $17 where you can get a pasta and a small side of kale cesaer which was perfect. This place is more of a self dine, and they give complimentary bread. The interior was really nice and well designed. I could see the chefs making the food from where I sat. Overall definitely coming back to try their other pastas! read more
Forma Pasta Factory has become my family's go to spot for delicious Italian pasta dishes when we're in Williamsburg / Greenpoint Brooklyn. After taking my daughter and her boyfriend shopping & thrifting today, we were famished and decided to visit FPF for some much needed pappardelle bolognese, shrimp scampi, pasta and fungi, meatballs and aranchini balls. I've heard of this spot on instagram/tiktok for a while now and was pleasantly surprised it lived up to the hype! It is a fairly busy shop, since it's been all over social media, so it would be difficult to get a table for 4 or more, considering it was a bit difficult for us to snag seats for 2. When you walk in, you hop in line to order at the register before finding your table to sit at since it's self service. They hand you your number to bring to your table so they bring the food to where you are sitting rather than waiting for your number to be called. On the menu they have their standard set of pastas then a list of each pasta special for each day of the week. Pretty casual vibe. Seems like a place a bunch of people in their 20s-30s go here to catch up with friends. They also had some outdoor seating when we went. We also liked that it's vegetarian and gluten-free friendly for those that have some dietary restrictions. You can also watch them make fresh pasta too. There is complimentary bread! But it does get busy and sometimes they forget, so feel free to ask and they will be happy to give you some. It was similar to the texture and taste of focaccia bread which we were happy about. We got the aranchini and pipette ragu. The aranchini was okay, probably won't get it again since it wasn't quite the texture we were used to and they were on the smaller size (didn't give that many either) and we were not a fan of the sauce. The pasta tho--the texture was really good and tasted super fresh. We loved that it was cooked al dente and that it had the right combination of sausage to sauce to cheese ratio. Forma Pasta Factory is a gem! It's an affordable way to enjoy Italian food in NYC. The arancini was excellent--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by the creamy Calabrian chili sauce, which was honestly the standout of the meal. I had the mushroom fettuccine, which was very good with a satisfying al dente bite. Their complimentary focaccia was a nice touch--perfect for soaking up any leftover sauce. The $5 wine with your pasta is a great deal. Service was friendly and attentive, with staff checking in regularly. The atmosphere is casual, you order at the counter but the food quality makes it feel like more than a typical fast-casual spot. read more

Very, very good. I have been wanting to try this place for a while! Finally in the area and stopped by to get it midday. It was still very busy. I got the Pepper dill Ragu at the recommendation of the cashier. It's a place where you order at the front and then they bring it to you later. Everything else is self served. Honestly, I did expect it to be a little bit cheaper, but I under $16 I really shouldn't complain. The focaccia was surprisingly good with a crispy, flaky, buttery, exterior and soft fluffy interior. Some rosemary on top and flaky salts. I really enjoyed it! The pasta was cooked perfectly, some people say it is too hard, but that is personally my preference. They cooked it exactly the way I liked it and the true Italian way! Ha ha. I was like licking my plate at the end would totally come back. read more

Very cozy place! Has maybe 5 or so tables and counter top seating. Came on a Wed night and got our food within 20-30 min. We got the Mafaldine Scampi and Spicy Vodka Rigatoni (which I believe is a special). Both were amazing and the pasta was perfectly chewy. ~$15 for a plate in the city is a steal. So good! read more

Still the best pasta deal in Brooklyn. Exceptional service with exceptional house made pasta. IYKYK and Im always down for Forma anytime. I can't think of a better pasta deal on the $20. Super laid back and casual first come first sit to basis. read more

After class, my friends and I were hungry and wanted to eat at some restaurant nearby. We heard that Forma Pasta Factory has homemade pasta, so we decided to go. We ordered at the boot and paid up front, they will bring food to the table. Fettuccine Funghi; sautéed wild mushrooms, rosemary & thyme cream sauce, parmigiano reggiano, I love this dish the most. Spaghetti Pomodoro; san marzano tomatoes, basil, and parmigiano reggiano, regular Thursday Special Chitarra; 'frutti di mare,' shrimp, squid, mussels, calabrian chili, spicy white wine broth, it is good seafood dish. We shared all dishes so I got to try all of that. The vibe is very casual and easy going. read more

OMG why is the pasta so delicious here! Cooked in el dente style and tremendous flavors. Ordered the pipette ragu and the risotto balls. Both were amazing. The line is packed for a Friday night and you have to be able to get a seat if you want to dine in or else they won't serve the food yet. They want it to be fresh and hot when you dine in. Added $5 for a glass of wine. Totally worth it. Would love to come back again! read more

Amazing pasta for an amazing price! You really can't beat it. Both the mushroom and the short rib pastas were delightful, and I was eyeing what those around me were also eating. If I would come back, I would definitely try the shrimp pasta. They have fun pasta shapes that I don't see elsewhere too. Will definitely return! read more
