We visited this past Sunday for lunch. We ordered "the unforgettable" to share. Today it should have been titled the Forgettable! It was not good. it was overwhelming smothered with mayonnaise and cream cheese. That is all you could taste. It was so unappealing that I didn't finish my half. My wife, who has had this particular sandwich before--and enjoyed, agreed this one was not prepared properly and was not good. 1 star. The tomato soup was good! 4 star. I'm putting 2 stars on just my experience on the way they handle their orders over the phone. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN PAYING WITH A CARD. I ordered a simple combo, vegetarian sandwich with tomato basil soup and a rum cake. I informed the person that I was paying with a card. I read her my card numbers as requested and I was shocked that she read my numbers out loud except for a few. I told her that it is WRONG to read the card numbers out loud like that. She informed me that she only read it except a few for safety. It's still horrible knowing she did that. She then told me that it will take an HOUR AND A HALF to make my order to get it delivered. I can't believe it. Everything below here will be my updated on after I got my food. So after my food got delivered it took a total of 30 mins. A lot shorter than the time that the lady informed me. The food is ok. I really like the spicy flavor in the tomato soup. The veggie sandwich doesn't have much flavor in it. When I looked at it it looks like 2 slices of avocado. They did give me a cookie for my troubles and I informed the delivery guy of the people giving poor ratings. He said that it was unexpectable and he would have a serious conversation with the manager. I have added another star due to the food but the call was so horrible to me and her customers. Good sandwiches if they get your order correct. We have gone to Baggins quite a bit over the years. Yes, they do have good sandwiches. However, they are very expensive. Aside from that, we have noticed multiple problems with Baggins locations throughout Tucson. - If you ask for mayo on the side, they NEVER put a plastic knife in the bag. Do they expect me to spread mayo with a finger? - Messing up orders (incorrect sandwiches, lack of drink, etc). This has happened to us at several locations and even when we select delivery. - Orders take an excessively long time, more so when it is a grilled item. It is not uncommon for a grilled sandwich to take 30+ minutes to make. Don't expect Baggins to address complaints via social media or email. If you get a response, it will be lacking in a resolution. read more

Not sure if it's just this location of if all of them have this problem- but I just don't understand why it takes 18 minutes to get an Unforgettable (which is essentially a turkey sandwich). They have 7 people working, including what seems to be a manager, and aren't even busy. This is a local chain in Tucson that has been around for more than 30 years and they make killer gourmet sandwiches. I can't stop thinking about their "almost" Reuben. It is loaded with grilled pastrami, coleslaw (who knew?), thousand island dressing and melted Swiss cheese that literally pulls away in long stringy gooey goodness when you bite into it on a perfectly toasty grilled marbled rye bread. And while it seems pretty pricey for $8.99, a full sandwich is enough to split with friend. Oh, and they serve it with a mini home made chocolate chip cookie. They have a great selection of signature sandwiches and grilled sandwiches to satisfy most any taste, including vegetarian. Although I did not notice GF breads, they have soups that you can order alone or with a half sandwich and a nice assortment of bread bowl salads (that you can likely get without the bread bowl). I was also pleasantly surprised to see a Sobe Zero on the fountain drink selections. So depressing. I used to love this place... the Spice Tea and the Unforgettable were classic hits! The tea was weak and watered down and they changed quality of the turkey meat. It $13 for a sandwich and $3 for a tea. I wouldn't have mind paying that for quality but, looks like they have cut costs and it shows. I won't be returning. Usually good food, but the cashier went from sweeping to pouring our soup and working the cash register without a hand wash or sanitizer or even just gloves! Then the cook came out of the bathroom and went right to the hand sanitizer. Hopefully in addition to washing his hands - not instead of. As a true Tucson resident, I love a good trip to Baggins. I love their sandwiches and chocolate chip cookie. Their tomato basil soup is great and their cobb salad is my favorite. Sadly though, this location suffers from inconsistent products. Let's take their cobb salad for instance. I've had the chicken sliced thin like deli meat, chunked in cubes, and even left a whole breast! These types of inconsistencies I've seen in other products from this location also. I have never in my life waited that long for sandwiches or really any meal. And when they did, first of all we paid 75 cents for each extra side of ranch and our sides has about enough to dip your sandwich in it once. So we go up to ask for more and the manager literally holds it up to look at it. Like what was she gonna see if it was good enough to her standards of full and not give us more if you thought it was enough? Because if I'm paying for an extra side or better fill up the side container. She didn't even say anything after that she just handed us more. Then our sandwiches, first of all once again mine was completely burnt! Literally my chicken was even burnt. And my boyfriend made it so clear to not toast his as its miserably hot outside who wants a hot sandwich, and they did! Even the cookies were hard! And their soft cookies is the best part of this place! It was so sad and so terrible and it breaks my heart because I am a true baggins lover and I don't see myself returning to this location because they just have nothing together. I really like Baggin's food. Sundown and Unforgettable sandwiches are great. Tomato basil soup is phenomenal, and the garlic bread that comes with it is super tasty. Chocolate chip cookie with every order is a nice signature. The sides are all good. I especially love the potato salad. Bread bowl salads are excellent. They seem to be doing decently during COVID times, still very busy for lunch. Staff are masked up, and there is hand sanitizer. They seem to be keeping things pretty clean. Service here could use some work. I have really only had a problem once, but the staff didn't seem to care. I placed an order online and when I arrived it was clear they lost it. Eventually the slip was located and they made my order, but there was no apology or even an acknowledgement of the mistake. All I got was "It's not ready yet." Mix-ups happen, and I totally get it, but two ladies behind the counter insisted on blaming me, asking if I put the order under a different name (I didn't) and suggesting I ordered from the wrong location (I didn't). I watched a few people come in after me, order at the counter, and get their food before me. So that defeats the purpose of ordering online. There is one nice guy who works there and cared enough to throw in an extra cookie. It was just frustrating because I have limited time over my lunch hour. When I got home, I noticed there was no garlic bread with the soup. Whatevs, it's really tasty though, so that was a bummer. I had also tried to order the Manager's special for my husband, which was a meatball sub, and I couldn't because the website stated it was only available on Mondays. Yet, when I walked into the store (on a Friday) they had the special. Kind of perturbing. So that visit was kind of a miss, but ordinarily I am a fan of Baggin's. You can certainly get a cheaper lunch, but Baggin's is quality as far as the food goes, and I'm okay paying for that. The sandwiches we ordered were really good, my fiancé got a cheese steak and I got the Albuquerque Turkey. I'd recommend it based on the food, but I did observe a few things that knocked stars off their rating. The employee who took our order was so rude. It was clear we hadn't been there before, and she was blunt and abrasive when were trying to place our order. Later while we ate we watched her take her very long hair down and put it back up again. Never left to wash her hands after, and I know after working in the restaurant business myself that you're absolutely not supposed to have your hands in your hair where the food is prepped. I get there right at 7, got up to the counter and waited, I noticed there were quite a few people sitting around waiting for their food, and one lady came up and asked when hers would be done. she seemed quite frustrated. The man at the counter would not take my order, he said they were closed. I don't know if he was a manager or what, but they just lost a customer. (FYI they now close at 7! I get text messages from them, why wouldn't they mention their hours are changed.) I hadn't been back for awhile because the last sandwich I had was dry and tasteless, and expensive. Went here today 3/10 because it's the new Baggins near my side of town. This is a solid sandwich shop, based on my first visit I will be back. Go here. The next day... I noticed they had a tuna melt on the menu called Southwest Tuna melt. It comes on sour dough with Cheddar cheese, Tomato slices and lettuce and for 'kick' some chopped Jalapeños I believe. Well it is maybe one the best, (seriously) Tuna melts I've ever had and I seek them out where ever they are offered.
