The menu is limited, so you would expect they had perfected their offerings. We had read somewhere that their Reuben sandwiches were excellent, so we gave them a try. Imagine our surprise when the sandwiches arrived wrapped in butcher paper, having been microwaved in that paper, to which it stuck, rather than fried with a crispy crust. Not only was the outside of the bread a little soggy rather than crispy, but it looked terrible. The ingredients were fine -- rye bread, tasty corned beef, and sauerkraut. But the total package was nothing like I have ever seen or tasted anywhere else -- and not in a good way. We asked for extra mustard and received a couple of plastic packets that both turned out to be almost impossible to open. All in all, a disappointing experience.

The folks behind the counter greet you when you walk in the door -- nice touch! Mostly hot subs - I believe they have just a couple of cold sandwiches. I had the Turkey Bacon Ranch and my wife had the Thanksgiving special turkey combo. She was warned that they were out of the gravy due to high nationwide demand, but she went ahead and ordered it anyway. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes. I judge sub shops based on the quality of the bread, and Firehouse has truly excellent bread. Like my wife said: "smells like real bread". I like the big pickle spear that comes with. My sub was great - the ranch dressing had a nice flavor and the bacon really added. The Thanksgiving sub was OK, the flavor is dominated by the sage dressing.
