did not have the best experience. my friend ordered a side of meat with her for her pasta ENTREE. the waiter never told us there were no sides of meat. it wasn't until we got the bill did we realize she was charged for a FULL STEAK ENTREE. but the steak didn't come with any sides so we had no idea. $42 later - for just the steak. my friend is a waitress so she didnt to make a fuss. I called the next day to talk to someone who was just like "sorry the waiter didn't tell you we don't do sides." WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN. read more

We went there last night, so on a Saturday night and were happy they still had a table for us. With the dimmed lights the atmosphere is perfect for a dinner date. The staff was suuuuper friendly and attentive. We ordered the beet root appetizer and the bufala pizza to share. It was both delicious! With our appetizer we got soft warm fresh bread and oil to dunk it in! The pizza had a thin crust, but not the crunchy type. Nothing wrong with crunchy crust, the crust here is just rather soft. For dessert we ordered the cheesecake and the chocolate mousse. The cheesecake was yummy, but nothing special. The chocolate mousse was dark, white and milk chocolate and I would've rather only had the dark chocolate because it was the only one with real chocolate flavor. Unfortunately it was topped with sweet (I guess canned?) whipped cream instead of fresh whipped cream, which is okay but not worth 5 stars :) They also gave us homemade donuts which were very very good! I left before the wave took over the south side, pushing out all the Puerto Ricans. It was your pizzas, pastas and grilled octopus salad that kept me well fed. Happy to see you're still around after all these years, of course! You and Bonita were my shining light, consistent, affordable and unpretentious, yet oh so delicious. You outlasted Bonita, which is an achievement in this day an age to survive with these kids and the iPhones and the iPads and their headphones. They're barely human, these kids, more like zombies and robots moping about. Barely worthy to eat at your fine yet humble establishment. One day, I will make the pilgrimage to Willamsburg again, I just have to polish my bell bottoms and briefcases in preparation for my journey into the jungles of Williamsburg. read more

We were in town visiting our son who lives a block from this restaurant. Reviews looked good, so we figured what the heck. We went here at 6pm on Sunday (4/22). The front room was empty but the back/garden room was mostly full. That room was breezy with the back door open, so we sat in front. The place was clean and everyone seemed friendly. We ordered two pizzas and two spaghetti dishes. The pizzas came out pretty quickly but the spaghetti took forever. I don't know if they thought the pizzas were apps, but I thought I was pretty clear. The food was good, but not great. In all, it took over two hours from the time we were seated until we got our bill. While we enjoyed the conversation, this was a painfully slow experience--especially with the place being empty. I would be inclined to try one of the other Italian restaurants in the area before returning here. read more

Had dinner with friends in one of their street dining enclaves last weekend. This restaurant is doing social distancing correctly! Sturdy barrier between our table and the next and heat lamps. It felt safe. The service was great as the servers and managers checked on our small group often. The food was delicious. First of all, watching them freshly make all the ingredients makes it that much more enjoyable! I watched them roasting peppers right there, making all the pizzas. And the food.. we had eggplant parmigiana to start and it was simply melt in your mouth delicious! The eggplant was cooked to perfection which is not an easy task. The pizza was amazing! All the ingredients blended together perfectly. My boyfriend got classic margherita and I got the bufala e pomodorini (buffalo mozz and small tomatoes). Sooo delicious. I actually chose this place for dinner because most of the reviews are either really great or really bad. The olive oil they served with the bread was rancid. We ordered a lasagna dish and a truffle ravioli dish and both tasted awful, worse than microwavable prepackaged dinners, and I am not a picky eater. For $20 a plate it should be at least decent, and I couldn't even finish mine. I ALWAYS finish my food, so that should tell you something. Finally, I decided to tell the waiter about this experience because I figured if you're disappointed in a service, they should know about it so they can improve, right? I started talking to the waiter in a kind, compassionate way and shockingly, the waiter immediately started responding in a rude and obnoxious way. He even mockingly asked me how I would know if the olive oil was rancid, and acted as though I am an idiot who isn't aware of what olive oil is supposed to taste like. Regardless, I'm still astounded and mildly in shock. Long story short, I came here to prove the bad reviews wrong, and in return I was given terrible, overpriced food, rancid olive oil, and the worst restaurant service I have ever experienced. The lasagna was a bowl of mush with well ground grade F meat. Next time they should blend it for an extra minute and just call it soup. It was a busy Sat night. With reservations for 8p we were seated within 10 mins upon arrival. The baci & abbracci pizza is my favorite - well, my new fav considering this is my first visit - lol. The steak was ordered med rare - came out med rare. Pork chops came out a little drier than usual but it's pork so honestly I don't mind. The calamari was also delish - could have been cooked just a little bit more though. Because the food was really good and the hospitality was decent, they do get 4. (We were without eating utensils for a bit.) However, I will be returning with my man, so we'll see how the second time goes. And yes, I am gonna tear up that pizza! read more

While visiting a friend in Brooklyn, we made a reservation for 8:30pm on a Saturday night. We weren't seated until after 9pm, but even with the wait I'm still giving this place 5 stars. Service was incredible. They gave us bread and wine right away - they could probably tell we were a little annoyed with the 45 minute wait. Everything we ordered was amazing. The real winner was the Carbonara. At least one person in your party MUST order this. We also ordered the pappardelle al ragu d'agnello and ravioli di spinaci and both were incredible. The carbonara was still the show stopper. We also ordered the parmigiana di melanzane and the baci&abbraci pizza as appetizers. Both highly recommended. SHORT VERSION: mediocre food, overpriced, bad service and horrible treatment by restaurant owner LONG VERSION: Living in the neighborhood for 5 years, I have always walked by this restaurant but never ventured in. The ambiance seemed a bit off, the prices listed on the menu put me off and, well, there are many great choices for Italian in the hood. Last night a friend and I decided what the hell lets give it a shot. Things started out fine enough. The restaurant was not very crowded so we grabbed a table close to the window. Seated next to us was an obnoxious group of people celebrating a friend's birthday. Asking to do shots and screaming, taking photos with the flash reflecting and blinding the rest of the patrons, etc. In addition, they were asking the waiter what the cool bars on Bedford Ave were that they could go to and where they could get drunk and dance etc. it was very annoying but not necessarily Baci's fault. However that should have been a clue into the type of evening my friend and I would have. The waiter came over to our table and my friend and I placed our order. We ordered the Lattuga Alla Trentina salad to start. The salad came out and it was not that big for the $10 price but it was actually tasty. I was a bit annoyed because the waiter had our salad plate in hand, and stopped by the rowdy table next to us to listen to a song and pose for a photo before placing the plate down. For our pastas, we ordered two to share, the Rigatoni con Zuca and the Farfalle Mare E Monti. This is where things went from unpleasant to very bad. My friend and I sat patiently and watched for the next 30 minutes as tables that were seated after us, ordered long after we ordered, including a large party of 8 were served their mains. Plus, our waiter and noone else from the staff came over to check on us, tell us what was going on etc. Finally I called over someone standing behind the bar which I learned later was the owner to let him know we were waiting a long time. After that our waiter came to our table to tell us our food was coming. 15 mins later still no food and at this point I was very hungry and pissed. I asked the waiter to come over again and told him that to wait that long for simple pasta dishes was just ridiculous and asked what was taking so long. The waiter just kept repeating himself saying sorry there was a mistake made etc. I asked why they did not bother to tell us earlier and asked if they would compensate us somehow. The waiter did not say anything and walked away. Then the owner came over and apologized and said a mistake had been made. Again I asked why we sat for 30 minutes without anyone coming over to our table to check on us or let us know the situation. Instead of apologizing further, the owner began arguing with me and saying a mistake was made that was it and there was nothing they could do. I asked if he would compensate us somehow and he just again said, " it was a mistake there is nothing I can do." Umm nothing you can do, you are the owner dude. We watched as the obnoxious table next to us received dessert and saw how the waiter brought them a plate of cookies as a bonus to their meal. My friend and I were confused that they were being rewarded for disrupting other patron's meals in the restaurant. The sentiment I could see was shared by nearby tables. Anyways our pasta finally arrived. The rigatoni with butternut squash was very oily and bland. My friend's pasta with shrimp, asparagus, and tomato lacked flavor and we had to ask for a lemon to be brought over to our table so we could add some flavor. Were the dishes unedible? No but not worth the cost and definitely not worth the waiting time or frustration. The owner came back over again to see if everything was ok. He did not apologize and I said to him, you know this is my first time in this restaurant and it really has not made a good impression. Again nothing. The check came with the full amount charged. The waiter came out and brought us the same plate of stale hard cookies that the obnoxious table next to us gobbled up earlier. He placed a hand on each of my friend and my shoulders and said, "Again I am sorry." Then walked away. So that was it. I will not go back to this place again, will not recommend it to friends, and will bring my business elsewhere. I will stick to my regular spots in the hood for well price, yummy food with decent service or at least business owners that understand the value of a good review vs a bad one. Came here with my BFF during Brooklyn Restaurant week!. My friend ordered from the 3 Course menu and I ordered from the regular menu. Bread was a bit dry. Ordered a Passion fruit mimosa and it was so-so. I ordered the Salmone/Salmon with light Dijon mustard sauce served with sauteed spinach. It was pretty good and simple. My friend ordered the tilapia which was pretty tasty and different. Staff was a bit confused (Sorry, Spanish meseros is not a good impression for an Italian restaurant). They also made a mistake in giving us the wrong dessert and we still ate it. At the end, Decor is Good, Staff need more system, Seats are a bit comfy. But will not come regularly. read more
