    I really need to stop following social media good picks. I came after seeing a lot of IG and YouTube videos. I wasn't impressed with the pizza. The plain slices I ordered, the cheese was over done. It wasn't melted and gooey but over cooked. The only saving grace was the crust was crispy and there wasn't any flop but that didn't make the slice any better. Seems like I got slices that was heated up a few times and that's why the top of the cheese was over cooked. The sausage slice had no flavor. And I had high hopes coming here trying what suppose to be great pizza. Oh well. Lesson learned.

    SImply outstanding. One of the best slices I've ever had. Luigi's Pizza is often imitated, but never replicated. If you find yourself in New York, you'll find a bunch of "Luigi's" pizzerias. I'm here to tell you there is only one, and it's Luigi's Pizza in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Brooklyn = the greatest country in the world. The pilgrimage to get here was one I'll never forget. I've been following Luigi's online for years. The pizza shop has been in business for over 50 years doing one thing and one thing only, making some of New York's best pizza. The owner, Giovanni, took over the store 20+ years ago from his father, the namesake behind the pizzeria. I've been watching videos of Gio make pizza for years. The way he talks about the shop, work ethic, customers, and the ins and outs of making pizza is something to behold. Took the train from the city to get here on an absolutely grey and bleek winter afternoon. Seeing the iconic signage, the wooden walls, the signs and pictures that look like they've been up since the dawn of time, and basking in the smells of NY style pizza was intoxicating. Regular slices are $3.25. It's the best $3.25 you'll ever spend. This is, without a single bit of hesitation, one of my favorite slices of all time. Many folks can make a good sauce. Many people can use low moisture mozzarella for their pizza. But what makes New York pizza New York pizza comes down to the texture of the dough. The bake and undercarriage if you will. And from one bite, merely one bite alone, you can taste the undeniable difference in crispiness and flavor. To me, this is one of the most iconic NY slices. Have I had them all? Of course not. Can you still find good pizza in other parts of the country? Absolutely you can. But what Gio and his team are doing here is something that's been passed down for generations. And something New Yorkers and east coasters alike have down pat. What a treat to experience Luigi's. Park Slope, I envy you. I will remember this slice for the rest of my life. Spectacular!!!!!

    This pizza was fire. Cheap and crispy with great flavor. Definitely mean as hell but when you lowk get verbally abused and ignored, that's when you know the food is gonna be fire. Great stuff.

    Luigi's keeps the charm of a classic New York Pizza shop. We devoured the pepperoni + mozzarella slices, and ended up ordering a second round. The flavor and texture of both pizzas came out perfectly, though I wasn't the biggest fan of the crust itself compared to Joe's as it was a bit too crispy for me. The tomato sauce had the right amount of tanginess to it. The service was attentive, and they seem to have plenty of repeat customers based on their interactions. There's a mellow vibe to it, while feeling quite home-y at the same time. The dog waiting patiently outside seemed to want a slice as well.

    So I had this place bookmarked in my heart years back. I mean we're talking about pre covid. That day had finally come to experience the quintessential orange slice. Also I only had one day in Brooklyn so I don't care how full I was. I was squeezing in a few slices before I was going to head back to the hotel. Nothing could stand in my way. In addition this was another location the photo op did not cross my mind. I mean the food was in my hands, bite after bite, sharing each slice with my daughter was a dream come true. So the photo was not taken but boy let me tell you. FLAVOR. This place is a historic institution in the pizza universe. Owned by Giovanni Lanzo the son of Luigi Lanzo. Opened in 1973, this family has been dishing out the best of the best in the South Slope of Brooklyn. Walked in around 6pm to order and it felt like an auction at the door. People had their cash in hand, waiting to pay for that beautiful slice of whatever that was being served that day. Finally, it's my time to order. One grandma and 2 plain please! Have to mention this day, I was completely carb loaded. So my dreams of becoming Mr. Olympia had gone down the drain, REAL QUICK. Felt more like the Michelin man towards that day. But totally worth it. So the pizza shop is a small tight fit eatery that takes you back to the 70s. Retro menu, wooden walls, vintage decor and pizza that will rival any Pizzaiolo toe to toe. Pizza was amazing. I can't say that enough. Perfect flavor. That seasoned oven, the masterful hands of Giovanni putting all the ingredients together have created the fundamentals of what New York pizza is and should be. Plus I was grateful to observe him creating his art before it hit the over. What a site! Grandma slice was phenomenal, that fresh tomato sauce, the parm, the dash of basil oil, and mozzarella. Legendary! And the classic plain aka orange slice was Top tier! Bite after bite I needed more! Extremely thankful to have shared these slices with my daughter. She loved it as much as I did! Bravo to the Lanzo family for keeping this magical tradition of what we all dream to experience alive.

    Great pizza. Has just the right amount sauce and cheese and not greasy at all. The sauce is a bit tangier than i like but its very good. The place is very small and can sit only about 10 or 12 ppl so don't make plans to sit and enjoy your slice as there is also no real place to stand i side. Other than. That I would definitely come back.

    Came here when I saw bar stool sports. Glad I did BEST pizza in Brooklyn. I had a lot. Nothing compares. Zero flop. Amazing sauce and cheese. Very thin and crunchy. Unique. Price: fair and favorable. Atmosphere: a museum, mind blowing. I feel like I left an attraction Owner makes pizza. A legend. Craftsman. I watched him work. I'm amazed. Never before I saw someone work so fast and create perfect pizza. 6/5, A+++++ Top pizza in Brooklyn. You ain't finding nothing better.

    Luigi's doesn't call attention to itself. The red doors sit open under a weathered sign. No neon. No slogans. Just a name carved into the rhythm of the block. Inside, it feels like a room preserved in time. Wood paneling. Tin ceiling. A letterboard menu that hasn't blinked since the seventies. A couple of booths, the hum of a fan. That's it. The guys behind the counter don't move fast. They move just right. Dough gets stretched. Sauce gets ladled. Cheese gets scattered. Nothing rushed. Nothing careless. When the slice hits the tray, you can already tell it's going to change your understanding of what great pizza is. We started with a plain cheese slice. From the very tip: crisp. Not crackle. Not snap. Crisp. Sharp, controlled, clean. And then the chew. Not heavy, not doughy. Just that perfect give you only get from dough that's been cared for. The bottom held firm, even browned, no flop. It folded with confidence and held its shape. You could feel the structure in every bite. Then the flavor: sauce and cheese in complete harmony. No line between them. They'd melted into each other. A single, warm, balanced bite. It wasn't showy. It was pure. Alchemy in its quietest, most beautiful form. They didn't have pepperoni when we walked in, just cheese. But ten minutes later, one of the guys walked over to tell us a fresh pie had just come out. That mattered. He didn't have to say anything. He did anyway. We ordered it immediately. It took everything good about the plain slice and turned it up. The pepperoni curled just right, crisp at the edges, oil shimmering in the cups. The same crust. The same chew. Just more. And as we were finishing, they brought over a slice of fresh mozzarella. On the house. No pitch. No words. Just placed it on the tray like it belonged there. That one brought a brighter tomato flavor, softer cheese, a drizzle of olive oil, and that same unmistakable crisp right from the tip. We've been skeptical of the "New York is the best pizza" crowd. Usually, we can match what NYC offers back home in Rhode Island, and sometimes beat it. But not this time. Luigi's made us shut up. It made us bend the knee. For the crisp, the chew, the alchemy, and the kind of understated, generous service that proves exactly why some places don't need hype. They just need to exist.

    Finally, I have found the hype about NYC Pizza. And I found it at Luigi's in Park Slope. They are an icon for a reason. We got there right as they opened and it wasn't long before a short line formed. On a MONDAY. The guys were busy making pies, care taken each time. And that care translated in taste. Holy cow what a great slice. Every bite was crispy, even the very first bite from the middle of the pie. That's almost unheard of. But Luigi's pulls it off expertly! The cheese and sauce blend together to become one delicious topping that transcends what you've ever thought a NY slice could be. The guys here are super friendly and nice, we mentioned we were going to get more slices as the pies came ready and they let us start a tab. They let us know when the pepperoni came out and even brought a slice of margherita for us to try on the house. It feels like a neighborhood spot and we were welcomed into it like an old friend. I still have a few places to go on my quest to find the best NYC Pizza, but so far Luigi's is my number one and it will be hard to beat.

    I'm going to keep this short and sweet because the reviews and high rating already speak for themselves. I live a bit out of the way in Windsor Terrace/South Slope, where the pizza options are simply mediocre. They're not terrible, but they aren't great either, just nothing worth writing home about. Luigi's is my go-to because the 20-minute walk to 5th Ave is absolutely worth it. As much as I love a good slice of NY pizza, I don't want to turn it into a whole adventure or hop on a train just for a slice, so having a spot this good within walking distance is a gift. Luigi's never misses! Great pizza, great vibe and quick service (especially when Gio's around), and totally worth the trip every time.

    I stopped into Luigi's for 2 slices today. Busy pizzeria. Gio was there which was awesome to see. Quick counter service, a few small tables in the back and one out front. 2 slices $6 total and out the door...on the paper plate with the wax paper...the way it should be served. High quality product, excellent cheese and crust....my issue was the sauce. Not sure if it was an off day but the sauce didn't taste cooked.....almost raw tomato from the can. If I am in the neighborhood I will stop in again.

    So glad we finally made our way over here! The pizza lives up to the hype. Just classic, crispy, flavorful pizza that meets all your needs. When you think of a classic New York slice, this is 100% it! For anyone who is a pizza fan this is a must try location!

I've been to New York City and ate at the original Joe's Pizza. What an epic slice of pizza. Now back home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the great white north of snow that never ends, I finally tried the frozen Di Fara pepperoni pizza from Target no less. Sorry Joe's, but this is on par with your pizza (if it was frozen). Dave Portnoy was right with his high review. This pizza is very good. The thick cut pepperoni, great basil, and the crisp chewy crust was excellent for a frozen pizza. Nice under carriage as well. I cooked the pizza at 480 degrees in an electric pizza oven for 10 minutes, and the result was very good. I added a drizzle of hot honey, and it was spectacular (okay, I also added some fresh picked jalapeños as well). The pizza was hot and melted in the center, and the crust was very crisp, but still had some chew. Wow. This was the best frozen pizza I have had. Bar none. New York, you spoiled me when it came to pizza. Now I can get a taste of New York at home. Great job! I may or may not eat the last 3 pieces currently sitting in the fridge before bed.

He would pull the pans with his bear hand out of the oven and generously drizzle olive oil from a rustic copper container over every pie. He would then meticulously inspect the dough for bubbles. Then pop back in the oven for the imported olive oil to permeate and create a beautiful glistening coat. And once cooked he would then graciously cut basil on top of the pie. Dom has now passed but his legacy continues. I've always compared the then pie vs now. And like most things,, nothing beats the original. This is still a very good slice. I once rated them as the best in NYC. Unfortunately, its not at the very top but still on the podium. Coming back feels like you are saying hello to an old friend. If you haven't been, you have to try at least once.

Many pizzas do not reheat well due to rubbish cheese- not L&B- pop it in the oven around 400°F, and let it crisp back up! Also- the Spumoni- it keeps at a nice consistency in the freezer, unlike rubbish American ice cream- which gets like a rock. The only other Spumoni I buy is from Corona. They're both phenomenal in their respective rights. When asked by non-NY'ers which pizza is my favourite- this is number one for Sicilian- not heavy at all. The crust is light, airy, and flavourful. The cheese to sauce ratio is perfect- not swimming in greasy cheap cheese. I have the same standards for Neapolitan Pizza. We can discuss that elsewhere. Please never close shop- at least let's celebrate the centenary!

I do wish the toppings were a little heavier but the tomato chunks in the sauce tasted very fresh. A very classic New York style pizza and I couldn't even tell it wasn't real cheese. Vegan garlic knots were great too.

My daughter and I love Patsy's and if there is any pizza we want to get while in the city, this is a no-brainer. I love how classy and old-world the inside of this place looks. It makes you feel warm in the colder months, and refreshed in the warmer ones. The pizza always arrives still bubbling and with a beautiful undercarriage. They NEVER disappointed us and I would rather spend $200 per person here, than for the overpriced Tame Impala ticket.

Fresh mozzarella, a nicely thin crisped crust, sweet tomato sauce, and fresh basil makes this simple pizza taste great. The fried calamari also impressed. It tasted notably fresh--light, clean, and not overly chewy like pre-frozen versions can sometimes be. While I can't say for certain, it had that just-prepared quality that makes a difference. The Caprese salad was a great way to start the meal, with fresh tomatoes, creamy burrata, and a balsamic drizzle was a nice light start. The atmosphere leans old-school Italian, which adds to the charm and character. Service was fine--nothing remarkable, but no major issues either. That said, my overall rating takes a big hit solely for the restaurants ridiculous tipping policy choices rather than the food itself. The automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill was frustrating. The menu does indicate that 18%, will automatically apply, or will be 20% for parties of six or more. We were only three people, so it felt inconsistent and unnecessary. On top of that, the added cost for credit card usage didn't help. I don't mind tipping for good service! In fact, I tip well--but I prefer having the choice and I'm old school so it's the principle of the matter. Being forced into it, takes away from an otherwise enjoyable meal. Bottom line: the food is strong and worth trying, but the billing practices leave a bad taste. If those were adjusted, this could easily be a higher-rated experience.
