I really like this restaurant! I'm really not a fan of most Italian restaurants, but the food here doesn't disappoint. I have been here 3 times and have loved it each time. The ambiance is great and the food is delicious. All three times I had the Cavatelli with Broccoli Rabe and Sausage (I just love the dish) and it has always been great. Also, my friends and husband really enjoyed this place as well and they purchased other dishes. The dessert menu is great too, if you're a dessert person. My girlfriend and I chose to dine here because we both love Italian food and it is right across the street from the Williamsburg Cinema we will be heading to afterwards. Our meal was divine. We started with the cheese plate which came with 4 tantalizing varieties and pear dipped in honey and walnuts to add warmth, smoothness, and texture. My girlfriend had the gnocchi sorrentino, which she said were like little fluffy pillows that melt in your mouth. I had the pasta special with scallops and mushrooms. The pasta was fresh, the sauce blended expertly, and the scallops were delicate and rich. Adding to the enjoyment of the evening was our amiable and gracious server Paolo who was delightful and informative and addressed us as senorita and senor in the most charming of ways. The quality of the ingredients is so high (my favorites are the pizza stagione and ravioii with truffle sauce), the staff is friendly, warm and knowledgeable (it's evident how much they care about food) and the back garden is delightful. We've gotten tons of delivery from Baci & Abbracci, because it is super easy on delivery.com & I'm super lazy. So it's funny that it's never occurred to us to visit the restaurant itself. Someday. I'll never order from here if I just want a straight-up pizza (I have Danny's for that!). However, when the boyf craves carpaccio and a fancy margarita pizza, I happily concede and get myself a tasty (and pleasantly huge) red beet gnocchi. Delivery is fast enough. Sometimes the pizza is lukewarm to cold when it arrives, but it's so thin that I imagine that's sort of unavoidable when traveling nearly a mile in the winter. The fries are always undercooked, but why am I ordering fries from an Italian restaurant, anyway? Plus, 30 seconds in the toaster oven takes care of that. The real reason I'm finally compelled to write a review is because we ordered brunch for the first time yesterday, and we were absolutely floored by the french toast. GET THE FRENCH TOAST! I love french toast, but it's often too heavy for me and I get a tummy ache before I can eat half. Baci & Abbracci's take on the dish is so light & crispy that it defies belief. The puffed rice batter is a stroke of genius. It's accompanied by a side of fresh fruit (cantaloupe, strawberries, & oranges), so the bread absorbs some of that fruity goodness. Roasted potatoes were kind of under done (just like their fries), but that french toast made my whole day better and so more than made up for it. read more

That was delicious stuff. I'll have to try the beloved California chain Amici's to compare it against-- after trying their pizza, I wasn't impressed with Italian style pizza. Free bread before dinner. I wasn't fond of the bread. The pizza - the flavors were wonderful! I've never had light feta on a pizza-- mm! They accommodated our request and cooked the spinach to our liking - steamed. We needed some healthy veggies in our bodies (after eating around NY). The serving was nicely bigger than I expected (compared to what we usually get for $6 in SF). It IS in a sketchy part of Brooklyn-- we passed a small plot of land that jail looking circular babry wire on the fences, and even saw a black guy physically punch a car in front of Baci and then the 2 guys in the car came out and started name calling at each other. It was cool to see a different part of Brooklyn, but thank goodness the walk from the metro was short. The service was personal, but you could tell they were still being professional. It wasn't very busy when we were there (just the back patio was starting to fill up at 8pm) Nice place. read more

I went there with my girlfriend for a Valentines Day pre fixe dinner. It was $60.00 per person and it would have been money spent better elsewhere. The food was bland and unimpressive. My girlfriend almost sent back her risotto, but decided just to salt it a lot and try to eat it. It also seemed like they doubled the amount of tables in the restaurant so they could make more money. If I am spending $180.00 on dinner I don't want to be so cramped that the waiter's butt rubs against my back every time he walks by. I am very dissapointed with this place. read more

Probably my favorite Italian restaurant ever! Everything here is SO delicious & fresh. The lasagna & pizzas are to die for. The salads are so yummy & the pasta super tasty. I think the portions are perfect and prices are very reasonable. Maybe even a bit on the cheaper side considering the quality of food you are getting. They have a good list of wines & cocktails. Service was spot on! Both the server & bus boy were super nice & accommodating. The staff made us feel very welcomed. I love the inside decor and the patio is even nicer. It has a romantic touch. i went here around 5-ish on a saturday expecting attentive service during a slow hour. the server was shady, the water guys even shadier, didnt feel quite comfortable from the start. i would have accepted had the prices been different or expectation lower w/r to zagat rating, etc. ordered the gnocci and butternut squash as main w the cheese plate to start along with a few high-priced glasses of wine. waiter brought out the main with which i questioned why we had not received the cheese plate. the waiter responded as if i had requested the cheese plate after and i had not pursued to restate the fact i had ordered the opposite. the food, eh. i enjoyed the gnocci but was a bit put off by the lack of creativity of the soup and the random inclusion of 2 pieces of so-so shrimp plopped in the middle of the bowl. the waiter then brought out the cheese plate after without bread or explanation of what cheese was what. we attempted to decipher which cheese was which along with some sort of creamy lump that sat on the plate. we choked down the cheese along with the overly ripe pear - partially brown in some areas. we also tried to wash it down with water but didnt receive too much attention from the staff on the level of water (or lack thereof). i left a generous %15 tip and will never return or recommend. perhaps a good place to order decent pizza.... read more

One word, FANTASTIC. Came here on a Saturday with two friends for restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had called in advance (and I'm SO glad we did) for a 7pm reservation in the outdoor garden. I was pleasantly surprised by the price fixe menu that was 3 courses for only 23 BUCKS! Insanely delicious, and very elegant service. The calamari was a table favorite and I enjoyed the chicken with spinach and roasted mushrooms as my main course. For dessert it was the apple crunch. It's like the nice older uncle you see at Christmas but cant wait to leave. Uncle Sam is sweet in his intentions but lolls about waiting for something to happen. Fantastic Italian place. Never had a bad meal and the food is utterly and authentically Italian.

Came by here for a Friday dinner, had no problems finding a table. My friend and I shared the tuna carpaccio appetizer special, which was still frozen on some parts, and the olive oil that came with the bread tasted very little of olives and had no salt in it. The entrees were slightly better; lasagna had no texture (good or bad), and parpadelle with lamb ragu was delicious, the pasta was firm and flavorful. Service was good, but next time I have an Italian crave I'll find somewhere else. read more

Went there yesterday afternoon around 3:00, after going to a different restaurant.. Which we left cause I didn't like anything on the brunch menu.. We ordered the Burrata & Tomato salad, arugula salad. Entrees were 2 orders of Branzino, which my friends said they tasted scales of fish, but was otherwise good and I had grilled chicken cutlet. It's was a great portion, but it said it was accompanied by white bean salad. Not really a bean salad, but again very good. Desert was good panacotta, Nutella focaccia. What a gem of a restaurant. It's refreshing to see a place that's easy to get reservations, with ample space, and with good food and prices. The seating at the backyard is cute, I went with a couple of friends for dinner and the lighting was perfect. I'm sure it'll be cute for brunch as well, which I plan on going to someday. I don't understand the average rating of that place. This is clearly an Italian owned establishment that has a very friendly service and amazing food, which should be what a restaurant is judged on. Yes the interior lacks character and the atmosphere could be more personified but they are working on it, they just added a covered outdoor space (aka brunch and dinner outside all year round). This restaurant is a gem if you go to a restaurant for great food that you can't get elsewhere. For example, the prosciutto e funghi pizza, just try it. This is awesome. If you don't like crusty pizza you will fall in love with this one. The dough is a blessing. You like fish? They always have a fish special that's greatly prepared. You like pasta with meat? So do I, try the lasagna, I had it many times and it always delivers. You like sweets? Try the tiramisu (the best in NYC in my sweet tooth opinion) or the pannacotta, not too sweet, a real delicacy. Oh and they are opened late and don't shut the door on you if you show up right before close... Now if you don't want to go because of the other average reviews that's your choice, I'll be guaranteed to have a seat when I show up... read more

First time here with my best friend and I can say that this place is one of a kind. Food was absolutely the best Italian I have ever eaten. That comparison includes my grandmothers cooking which was old school Italian from Naples and remarkable. Friendly staff, manager very interested in how things are, waiter was great and add to that a very relaxing ambiance. We had several appetizers. Eggplant was to die for. Calamari was incredible but small portion we will order 2 next time. Home made pasta and mozzarella is a rarity and insures the freshness and texture of the food. It just doesn't get any better than this. Home made tiramisu was fantastic. Great espresso also. Main course on a suggestion from another patron was the cavatelli with broccolli rabe and we substituted shrimp for the sausage. Good sized portions and absolutely so gourmet I wished I had 2 stomachs! Going tonight again with wife and in laws. Next week with a pharmaceutical rep. I will be here once a week from now on until I have tried everything on the menu at least twice and then start over.The prices are reasonable but honestly for that quality they could charge me double and I would still go. Hope they don't read this... I have a 7:30pm reservation tonight for 4 and they may hike up the prices after seeing this!!....LOL. read more

The pizza and salad I had were topnotch. That on its own would be a good enough reason to recommend the place, but the real reason I want to send them more business is their fantastic service. I ended up getting hopelessly lost and they allowed my family to keep a table, with two intermittently crying babies, for as long as they liked. I felt like an idiot when I finally showed up quite a while later, but they were so gracious and hospitable I didn't feel like I had put them out at all. Lovely people, great food. Fabulous pizza and consistant great service. I have ordered from this place for nearly as long as they have been around and every order is delivered with a smile and is PERFECT. I am not an particularly easy order either--I ask for different salad dressing and extra basil but each time, they get it right. They have the most delightful pizza crust, exactly the way you would want it, chewy, soft, a bit of saltiness and a bit of wood char from the fire. Their Enslada Estiva is a masterpiece. I sometimes order 2 salads for dinner since I love the fresh Fava so much. For simple fresh food and consistant service, this place is great. read more

i visited the restaurant with my family (5 in total and a baby) and we ordered dishes from pizza to a pork dish .. chicken parm ... lasagna. Everything was amazing! It was a bit slow to start getting recognized once we walked in as well as getting appetizers in as our waitress was also our bartender. And we also were the first seating of the night. The table stayed very clean and the waitress was very nice. Again the food was incredible and I always appreciate when the manager/owner (?) stops and checks in with the table to see if we enjoyed the food, which we did. I am here now I've been here before the food is good the service is good they have a limited menu but what they have is really good at a very reasonable price the staff and owners are very attentive to your needs to the extent that there espresso machine was not working their mother lives above the restaurant so she made me the espresso. Decent Italian food with really nice, modern decor. Cool backyard - fun to order a pizza and a bottle of wine out there and enjoy a summer night. My few complaints: Servers can be brusque and the quality of the pasta dishes is forever changing. That said, I don't mind going here and it's a great place to bring parents since it is never packed and the noise level is low. read more
