This place is a contender for best Israeli cuisine in Denver. The pita is fantastic and unlike the vast majority of Mediterranean restaurants, they use wood fired pita which makes the flavor and texture really lovely. We ordered the hummus with toppings, babaganoush, falafel/tahini dish, lamb kofta and the octopus. All were well cooked and tasted great. The octopus is outstanding for anyone who wants a perfectly cooked octopus dish. Falafel has a great texture and cook but could be a little less seasoned to really taste the flavors. We ended up getting the cookie tray to go which was wonderful. We served it with peanut butter fudge ice cream which was delicious. Get the cookie tray! Also, the place has a lovely atmosphere with great service. We were debating ordering grape leaves and our waitress gave us an order for free that they had done by mistake. Will be back! read more

Ash'Kara - Cookie tray with peanut butter fudge ice cream added! - Mediterranean Near Me - Denver, Colorado

This was my to-go place for amazing pita and hummus. In my last recent visits, the pita dough were rolled too thin, making the bread very hollow once baked. I felt like I was eating just the skin of dry bread. I know it's just bread but you know what, the pita here was pretty amazing in the past, I couldn't get enough of it. It used to be very soft, chewy and doughy in the center. I also had their shawarma bowl and it was really bland. Their falafel is really good and their service is great. read more

Yummy food and great drinks! Had the roasted cauliflower and smoked eggplant tagine with some hummus. Also great atmosphere!

Rob is the absolute best! Food was amazing and the whole entire staff is on point! When Meesh the hostess recommends the carrots...do it! read more

First time here for brunch. Food was very good, ample portions. Coffee was Luke warm and maybe Nescafé? Not good. Service was minimal but in fairness they had big party to attend to. read more

Just go!!! Get extra skug. And extra falafel. The pita bread is off the charts. Bring extra cash.

went here for happy hour the other day and had an experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. ordered a few drinks, fries, pickled vegetables, and hummus off the happy hour menu. the waitress made a point to ask which toppings we wanted on the hummus (mushrooms, feta, etc), phrased in a way like they were included with the dish (also the happy hour menu didn't mention anything about toppings, never mind an additional cost for them). when we got the bill, it turned out that the hummus toppings cost twice as much as the hummus itself lol. $6 for the hummus, $12 for a small sprinkling of feta and a handful of mushrooms. have been wanting to try this place for a while, but probably won't come back. read more

Food is awesome , packed with flavor. The carrots and lamb were very good and filling . Great place to go with friends as most everything is great for sharing. Def start out with the cheese and pita , comes out piping hot on a cast iron skillet . If you like Mediterranean with a twist it's the place for you read more

I enjoyed their wood roasted carrots and tried a friend's za'atar roasted chicken, and both were mouth watering, finger licking good. I want to eat everything on this menu! read more

From the drinks to the food to the atmosphere to the service...this is my new favorite restaurant in Denver. Server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and was happy to cater all dishes to two vegans. In my opinion it is a spot to go in and enjoy your company and experience, not a place to choose food to-go. A fun and modern spin on classic Mediterranean dishes. We chose this place because of a recommendation from a friend for my birthday, and I was happy I spent my evening here. read more

Delicious food and excellent service! I had the Spanish octopus and it was delectable

Vistited this place for the first time and we had a tasting menu where every dish was better than the last. Definitely will be going back as the food was amazing. read more

I've been looking forward to trying this place for a while and we finally did! So glad we stepped in to enjoy some delicious cocktails (my fave was the snapdragon - so refreshing on a hot day!). Hummus, muhammara, halloumi salad, and lamb kofte were all delicious. The service was outstanding as well. Can't wait to make this a regular spot! read more

Consistently great food and amongst the best service in Lohi. These guys go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Hadn't been out for dinner in months and was excited to see what this place was like. I have to say this was phenomenal. we had booked seats outside which looked awesome but when asked we chose to sit in front of the fire station. it was like watching an episode of chefs table while sipping amazing cocktails and enjoying warm food. Service was beyond great, food delicious and watching the process of our food felt really special. can't wait to come back. thank you for a great night. read more

The ambiance is great but the food is less than mediocre. For the price, I do not recommend dining here. We ordered the hummus, cauliflower, squash, octopus/squid, lamb, and latkes and we were underwhelmed by every dish. We ended up ordering the hummus twice because we weren't satisfied and didn't want to finish the other dishes. Very unfortunate because we were very much looking forward to this dining experience. :( read more

The space was beautiful and the service was great. The cauliflower, falafel and hummus were so flavorful and delicious. Definitely a must order again. I hate to give 3 stars because of one dish but it was so truly awful i have no choice. The octopus was atrocious. I literally picked this place because i love octopus soooooo much. It was rubber sitting on a plate of olive oil topped with celery. I had two bites. read more

Had the most amazing experience from the moment we walked in. This place made room for us when seating was limited. Thanks, Alex for the amazing experience. The food was excellent! We sat near the fireplace and had a show with our dinner. Although we were turned off from sitting at our seats at first; Alex put so much love and effort in every single dish he made. He was so busy cooking he still managed to answer every single one of your questions about the food he was making with a great hospitable attitude. Everything was absolutely amazing and so flavor packed! Issac our server gave us amazing service and the best recommendations. He guided us through the menu and helped us have the best experience possible. We thank you both for such an amazing evening!! read more

We came in for brunch to celebrate my birthday and had the BEST server, I believe his name was Sam! He had wonderful recommendations, great energy, was very attentive and knowledgeable. I'd add more stars if I could for Sam! The food was delicious as well, was a great start to my birthday. read more

My friend and I stumbled upon this place while in Denver one afternoon! We only experienced the Happy Hour menu, and we both loved the food! Our server was excellent as well! I look forward to going back for dinner the next time I am in Denver. read more

Ash'Kara - Mediterranean Near Me - Denver, Colorado

See all

This was our second time here and it was great. Very pleased with everything we ordered. I'm not sure which we like more, Ash'Kara or Safta. Hummus with cauliflower shwarma (great) Muhamarra (decent but Safta is better) Pickles (good) Carrots (very good) Cauliflower (great) Falafel (very good) Halloumi Salad (very good) read more

The Service was good. The Food was good. Here's the problem... I was presented a check and proceeded to Tip a generous 20%. Once I got home... I found that the Server had already "included" a 20% Tip herself for our Party of 4. I believe that I should have been told this as we were a Party of less than 5. That means that I Tipped 20% on top of her 20% and the Tax as well! This was simply DECEITFUL! I will NOT be returning for this serious DISSRERVICE!!!! read more

It was okay. Nothing truly to brag about. My friend and I sat at the bar where service was lacking. The food is something that can be made at home with an inflated price plus an automatic gratuity is added for the horrible service. I gave it two stars because the atmosphere was good. read more

Came here as a girl's night out. The ambience is great, super cute and intimate. The food was somewhat underwhelming. The server did his best job explaining the menu and tried to get us to do the tasting menu, $45/person. It might have been a better route, now after the fact. The fried cauliflower was the best!! We also got the roasted carrots, potato latkes, hummus and the whole fried fish to share. I didnt feel like anything was ahhhmazing...lots of great reviews of this place. I have yet been to Safta but the girls I was with said that it held nothing to Safta. Definitely willing to give it another go, get to try a few more items off their menu. read more

Eh, it was ok. Food is a little pricey for portion size - one of our entrees looked more like less than a small tapa and was told it was a family-style share entree. I'm not sure what kind of family shares a three-bite entree. It also was just ok in flavor. Other entree was fine, but nothing more than average. Service was fine, but again, for the price overall, look for other options in Denver. There are so many good places to choose and this one missed the mark. Won't be back and can't really recommend it. read more

We picked up dinner last night. We had the chicken, lamb kofta, salad, hummus etc. My husband said, "This is a good argument for starvation. It is VILE." And it was. I couldn't eat my slimy chicken. The other dishes were like leftovers from another diner's meal. We will never even consider going back. read more

My fiance and I had reservations on a Friday night for this spot, which by the way were pretty hard to get. It books up fast. The interior is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. The staff were attentive and nice. The food -- Here is where I was a little disappointed. It is frustrating that so many restaurants don't have 'entree' options, but rather multiple main course plates and multiple, separate sides to share and then the server will suggest 2-3 or 3-4, etc. Which quickly adds up so so so fast. While we loved everything we had here, it was way too expensive for what it was. I thought it was good, but do not think I'll ever crave to come back given the pricing and other options nearby. The hummus is A MUST. So good with the pita bread. We had the falafel (a little lacking flavor, but sauce was tasty), as well as the chicken (which sits on a bed of lightly dressed greens) - chicken was very good but seemed like a pricey option for what it was. I'd recommend trying it out, maybe for happy hour - but don't see us going back anytime. read more

Ate here for the first time. Got a few sides. All were delicious and a step above the usual. Our server was great. Nice patio and they had big windows open. Negatives were that staff ignored us/acted irritated to deal with customers when we first got there and the music was way to loud. I like to be able to converse without yelling. read more

Great service and even better Israelii menu. Loved the lamb and the babaganoush dip! 5 stars:)

What an awesome new addition to the Denver restaurant scene. I have heard nothing but good things and we decided to walk in one night in hopes to experience the tastes of the Mediterranean. Although we didn't have a reservation, the staff was kind to find us a spot, knowing that we had a baby and needed to be in and out quick. I've never had my water glass filled so many times. The staff was ON IT! Can we talk about the pita bread?- WHAT! It was a hot bubble of YUM. It was literally so hot coming right from the oven, we had to cut it first and wait. But was fluffy, hot, perfect taste, and a great compliment to the amazing hummus choices. We got the hummus and added the feta, and a couple veggie options to the top. This was a perfect shareable item and there was plenty to go around. For Entree share plates, we had the Lamb, Dosha, Fried Cheese, and a second round of lamb. The lamb was juicy, hot and full of flavor. So good we had some more! Dosha is one of my favorites and so great. THE FRIED CHEESE....I mean its fried cheese, so of course you have to get it. But this cheese had a crunchy top layer, a fresh lemon acidity on top, and paired with the impeccable pita bread. YES. This place is definitely a share plates place, but the food is great and perfect for that. The boys were even full at the end! Denver needed some Mediterranean options and I am pleased to say, they KILLED IT! Check it out for a date night, or even a casual Tuesday when you are out and about. Happy Eating! read more

Really delicious brunch! We had the hummus platter for starters and then I had an amazing Shashuka dish. I will definitely be back! They had only put my order in initially and took a bit to come by for my friends order - so I got my meal about 25 minutes before she did which was annoying as I didn't want to be rude to eat, but my food was getting cold. Had the orders and the timing been right definitely would have been a 5 for taste. Can't wait to go for dinner! read more

Consistently delicious with amazing service. The carrots are AMAZING, the staff is KIND and courteous, and the main dishes never disappoint.

This is of my favorite restaurants in Denver. The food and drinks are amazing. We like to order the dips and the dip additions.

I really REALLY wanted to like this place. My boyfriend is Turkish and we both love Mediterranean food, however Ash'Kara fits into the neighborhood theme of overpriced mediocre food (re: Senor Bear, the whole strip of restaurants near Uncle, etc.). Let's start with the good (because there really was so little good with the place)-- the pita is really lovely. Fluffy, tasty, and everything you want from pita. The hummus was quite nice as well, So there's that. On to the less than ideal... we ordered the lamb kofte, saganaki (Greek fried cheese), octopus, and hummus. My first concern is why offer octopus on a menu if you can't do it properly? The octopus was over cooked and rubbery covered in an overwhelming cilantro sauce. Why ruin a delicate thing like octopus with cilantro? Saganaki was terrible, we couldn't even eat it (and we love cheeses of all varieties). The lamb kofte was also nice, but nothing spectacular and not nearly nice enough to make this restaurant worth going to. The service was so so slow and we waited for almost 20 mins before we got out drinks. My boyfriends beer had no carbonation, and they did not notify us that there was an issue with the keg. This restaurant is really overpriced for what they offer and the vibe is just off-- like they got all their decor/dish ware from like a TJ Maxx. I was really excited to have a Mediterranean restaurant in this neighborhood but unfortunately I don't particularly enjoy dropping $100 on a meal that had little redeeming qualities. read more

This place was pretty disappointing especially for the price you pay. Tried a ton on the menu, all the dips, both steak and chicken entrees, tagine, all the sauces. Their portion sizes for the price was practically robbery. They give you 1 pita per dip. They encourage you to share all dishes but if you get hummus for the table you either need to divide 1 pita up or pay $3 for every extra pita you order. Talk about nickel and diming you...I wouldn't even mind as much if the food was amazing but it wasn't. Everything was either underseasoned or overseasoned. Some items I'm shocked they even let the dish get served out of the kitchen. I'd skip out on this and try a different restaurant. read more

Nom nom nom. I mean, come on. I could put their carrots on everything. And their lebnah? Gimmmmmmme a break Ash'kara! Keep making magic.

Best pita and hummus in Denver. Love the shawarma too. Casual and delicious. You'll love it.

Yummy food!!! Cute little place with cute decor. Was really surprised how tasty everything was, highly recommend

First off Mish is a whole lot of lovely. Sweetest, most friendly, most accommodating hostess with the mostest. The food was phenomenal. Spencer was our bartender and couldn't have been any better. Well done Ash!!! read more
