I am so thrilled we're (Denver) getting more Mediterranean and especially Israeli food. The food at Ash'Kara was great! We ordered the regular hummus and pita to start, and as someone who has lived in Israel, I know good hummus and that one was particularly good! I'm excited to try some of the variations next time. We then ordered the lamb kofte which is essentially a kabob. That too was excellent! Totally could have had another round of those. We ordered the Duck Tagine which was incredible. This dish was one of the best duck dishes I'd ever had. Just be prepared to have your mouth bursting with Mediterranean flavors. Most Americans probably have never had a dish like this, so make sure you try it! It's a big portion so definitely a sharing plate. We ended with the plate of cookies that were perfect! I would have liked the panna cotta but they were out. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of the small plates (falafel and baba) as well as the whole fish. They have a fantastic cocktail and wine list as well. My husband had the AKOF cocktail and I had the barken cab from the Galilee in Israel. So awesome that you get to also drink local wine! Thanks for having us! We can't wait to come back! read more

4.5 stars. Food tastes fresh and high quality, happy hour pretty substantial and great space for all this. Haven't had dinner yet but it's top on list to get some lamb and more options not offered at brunch or HH. Def go! read more

We sat at the bar. Mike was amazing. Even though it was a busy Friday night, he took the time to welcome us in for the first time and was very attentive throughout our dinner. The food was so flavorful, fresh and delicious. The aymospheee and ambience is cool, casual and hip. Please try this gem! read more

The service was great. The food I got was not. A very interesting black cod with cold zucchini noodles and a warm corn purée was way to sweet and over powering to the already sweet and buttery fish the didn't mesh well the hot and cold on the plate did not go good with the fish. The fish also came out very under cooked and they wanted to tell me that's how the fish is witch is just not what you say to a guest . read more

The food is incredible and our waiter was truly lovely. I live 2 blocks away and towards the end of the meal I definitely saw this as a place I will be visiting frequently. Unfortunately, the meal ended in a rude manner. After spending ~$160 dollars worth of food and drinks with my friend, we ordered a final round of wine and the check at the same time so that we could leave as soon as we finished. Halfway into our last glass, the manager asked us to move not to the bar but to the divider wall without seats to finish our drinks. This meant holding our coats, leftovers, purses, and drinks at this wall that was crammed and while people pushed past us every every few seconds. Stupidly, I agreed, not realizing about how rude the request was. As we got up, the manager offered us a round of free drinks, but never once followed up on the offer. Not how a restaurant should treat customers, especially after spending $160 for two people. (Though, people shouldn't be treated that way regardless of the amount of money they spent.) It's understandable that the restaurant was packed. But, if we couldn't drink our wine at the table, then we should have been notified of this prior to being charged for the wine. Despite the food and wonderful waiter, this treatment ended the meal on a strange note. read more

Amazing ambience and food-great people watching, hot fresh pita, amazing hummus and don't miss the shisito peppers or chicken. I don't normally order chicken out at restaurants, but it sounded amazing and totally lived up to the description. read more

We went here on Saturday night, 7:45 pm reservations. First off, love the decor of this place, it's fun and inviting. The food and drinks were great. I had the Biblical Sense to start off with, was a bit liquor forward for me but loved the after taste of saffron. My second drink was the Peace-Full, this drink was so good, reminded me of mango lassi (maybe you guys should do a mango lassi cocktail, come summer). My husband had the A.K.O.F. and Holy Trinity, he enjoyed both. The food was amazing! We ordered the hummus (no additions), Muhammara dip, wood roasted carrots, falafel and lamb kofte. Everything tasted great, loved the wood fired pita. You only get two pieces of lamb kofte so if you've got more than 2 people at the table, order more plates of (I'm sure your server will let you know). We had the middle eastern cookie tray for dessert, loved the orang blossom essence they bring to the table to put on your cookie tray, very cool . My only complaint is the noise level, music seemed loud and I felt like I had to speak really loud to talk to my husband who was across the table from me. It could've been the music but there were groups of people too. The other thing was we had to wait for quite a bit before we saw a server, about 5 minutes before anyone came to our table to give us water or take drink orders. A couple times, servers brought the wrong dishes but this isn't something I'd hold against the restaurant, it's new and with all new things, you gotta work out the kinks. This is a great place, they've got a cute outdoor seating area which will be fun in warmer weather. Also, know that this is not traditional middle eastern food, there's a twist to it so if you're expecting traditional, you'll be disappointed. Would definitely bring out of town friends/family, look forward to coming back in the summer. Great job! read more

This place is amazing! Great vibes, delicious food, and a wonderful staff. I'm Lebanese and have a hard time finding a place with authentic hummus and this place rocked it! The muhammara and Lamb kofta also were delicious. Ben was super personable and friendly and just an all around excellent host. 10/10 would go back and gorge myself. read more

Took my parents here and they loved it. They loved the decor and the pita+hummus (they'd never had hummus before). The lamb kofte was mind blowingly delicious. The saganaki was fine, but it wasn't for me. I just don't love pure cheese dishes like that. The pita was delicious, but the hummus wasn't mind blowing. Got the onion addition and didn't feel it was worth it at all. read more

Amazing experience!! The food was fantastic. The service was on point. We were a group of 6 and our food and drinks came right out. Everything we tried was so good. I highly recommend the Duck Tagine. I'm excited this restaurant opened up in our neighborhood and I can't wait to enjoy the patio this Spring. read more

Food is great, nice atmosphere and good service. Only drawback we encountered was the omakase. Typically this is small bites of many dishes to represent the freshest/best offerings. But instead it was just dishes ordered from the menu which we could have chosen ourselves. We did not need a double order of tater tots, for instance. I would avoid the omakase ($50 pp) and just order off the menu for the best balance of value and getting what you want. read more

Not impressed for the absurd price they charge for food and drinks. Not to mention the mandatory surprise 20% tip that is tacked on to your bill at the end, with a convenient line to add more. When I questioned the server about it he stated that some servers make a wage of $2 an hour and that the fee allows them a livable wage. Isn't that the responsibility of the cheapskate owner? What does that have to do with me? That's ridiculous. The restaurant needs to announce this fee somehow loud and clear BEFORE food and drinks are served. It was not mentioned at all. I'm usually a 20%+ tipper for great food and service, but I don't like to be forced, especially when I'm not satisfied with the experience. These greedy restaurant owners are really pushing it and need to remember that tips are a privilege for good food/service and not a right or something that should be forced on the customer so they can pocket more of the profit. If you must, fold it into your food and drink prices, which for this establishment seemed to already be the case. It leaves a bad taste all around. The service was fine, but the food was inedible. I could only take a few bites of the main course because it tasted like eating a cup of salt for each bite. First and last and would not recommend. read more

This restaurant was really cool. It has a unique vibe just upon entering. I loved the decor. They have a good wine selection, and everything I ate was very good. Between 3 people, we split the carrots, falafel, fried cheese, hummus, and lamb. We were all stuffed and very satisfied. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Fantastic food, fantastic and fun vibe. Highly recommend! Cocktails were also really good.

Just went with some girlfriends, and it is really good! We started with hummus, and added feta. It was delicious, tons of flavor! Then we got olives, and they were crazy good too. We ordered mussels, cauliflower, carrots, and lamb. All were delicious read more

This place was amazing! A table of 5 ordered the hummus (add cauliflower and feta), wood roasted carrots, Saganaki, falafel, fried cauliflower, Spanish octopus, and 2 lamb kofte. Every dish was delicious. Some of the tables favorites were the carrots, the hummus, the pita bread(!!!), and falafel. The server was very knowledgeable about how every dish was prepared and gave great recommendations. The price is very reasonable as well! High recommend. read more

Great spot for Mediterranean food. We started of with some hummus and pita and then had a few small plates that were filling and delicious. I thought the servings were generous, so we didn't need that many servings. There was a small hiccup on our order but the management made up for it! read more

Excellent and-exceptional food and service. We tried Hummus, Muhamara, seasoned fries and lamb kofte. Authentic Mediterranean/Lebanese food.

This place is VERY special. They actually make the pita bread in a ceramic oven per order! Their lamb meatballs were the best my Greek friend ever had. The octopus was very tender and the hummus freshly made. The fish entree was delicious with the tomato chutney accompaniment. Plus the complimentary dessert (You made us regular customers) was exceptional too. Can't wait to go back!! read more

Ordered one of everything on the menu. All of it was delish! A love that it's tapas but not your typical Spanish cuisine

While the food was decent, skip this place and head to Safta. Our waitress made it seem like we were inconveniencing her by simply being there. She was beyond rude, food was slow and unpredictable timing (30+ min between dishes ordered at the same time). She was condescending and it's disappointing as we were really looking forward to another middle eastern/med spot in town. Don't spend your money on rude service / the people at Safta are kind, patient and actually enjoy helping you! My two cents... read more

Very good food. But as someone who has spent years in the Middle East, the prices seem way too high for what would be considered street/mundane food. Don't get me wrong--the food is slightly elevated from the street/mundane but not dramatically. The hummus was just ok. The falafel was excellent, definitely way better than other places in the US. The walnut pastry on the cookie plate was wonderful. Not too sweet. A touch of saltiness to bring the flavor out. We got the Middle Eastern tasting menu for $45/person and feel like we overpaid by about 30%. We would have been better off value for food, just ordering a few things off the menu. The falafel, olives in charmoula, and pita were the highlights of the meal. Also, a little sad: they bring to every table a free starter of three little slivers of turnip pickle. This tiny little amount of pickle is sad, and seems like a strange thing to be stingy on. In the Middle East you'd get a generous portion of pickle--such a small amount would be embarrassing. I'll be back when I want good falafel. read more

My favorite middle eastern restaurant in Denver. Have to try the octopus and the lamb kebabs. They make their own pita which is great. The decor is really nice. Great place to feel at home and have good quality food. read more

That's a nice place. Good atmosphere, cozy. Makes their own whole wheat pita bread in wood fired oven. That's a clean middle eastern cuisine. Best hummus in town for sure, not salty and not greasy but full of flavor and very creamy. Prices are reasonable and happy hour gives great options. Tried cauliflower dish, hummus , falafel and Muhammara. All of them were exceptional except falafel. Inside of falafel was raw ( putting into an overheated oil fries only outer layer ) . Best hummus in town. They also use Urfa pepper. It is called isot . A typical pepper from south east Turkey . Urfa is a town in Turkey. That pepper is unique , spicy and sour , dark texture. Hummus is optional with Urfa pepper , definitely you can try. read more

YUM! Everything here was so delicious. Pita, hummus, olives, lamb tagine, everything. So flavorful, so delicious. We loved this place and will definitely be returning. So good! We came here last night craving Mediterranean and were not disappointed! We had the Hummus, Baba ganoush, carrots, and octopus. Everything was delicious, especially the fresh warm pita bread. I will say while the octopus was delish, I wish they had kept it as one big tentacle rather than slicing it. Someone had recommended that we try the dessert tray of cookies. I wasn't too keen on dessert but my friend was so we ordered it. Woowee. The baklava was amazing, it was not that overly sweet, honey drenched dessert I'm used to seeing, this was nutty and wonderful. But our favourite thing was the sesame bar. If you like sesame do NOT miss out on this. The Binyamina wine was really delicious and the waitstaff were unbelievably friendly. Looking forward to coming back really soon! read more

This place was cute inside and we had a selection of food. Service was great, nothing pretentious and just the right amount of service without being too overbearing. I like how everything is shareable and that made the dining experience different than other restaurants. The hummus and carrots are amazing and I would definitely recommend them! I can't wait to go back and try more. read more

Of all the Mediterranean food in my delivery range this is the one. Cous cous salad is good, everything tastes fresh, and the chicken shawarma wrap was flavorful and amazing. The hummus was a little bland to me and the pita wasn't as good as Safta but overall the best for the price and tons of options (unlike Safta in both regards). read more

Although I have eaten at Ash'kara more times than I can count and really love it (food, drinks, atmosphere, service), I recently went there with friends for happy hour. This is NOT a happy hour to overlook. Great menu and drinks, all very reasonably priced and just as delicious as it always is. I think the cocktails also need a special shout out as does Nicole. She serves up some of the best and most creative cocktails I have had (and remember they are not a cocktail bar - this is just a bonus). read more
