This place is so great I come every time I am in Denver. Beyond the delicious food - their drinks are the best!!! I literally dream about the Sundaze in Oaxaca read more

The food is phenomenal - I love Middle Eastern food and this is a terrific modern and upscale version of it. You'll really feel like your eating hummus (the creaminess and flavor are unreal) and pita for the first time. The servers are very knowledgable and we also ordered the octopus, the falafel and lamb. The lamb was divine, it can often be rubbery or taste a bit gamey but it was perfect here. The falafel was incredible - I'm so used to falafel being overcooked to the point of dryness with a hint of bitterness but here, it was just perfect, fresh and bright. We drank old fashioneds (have the date one) and wrapped the night up with the panna cotta (I'm going to call it right now: best dessert in Denver) and the cookie assortment. The design is really beautiful and vibrant, and with the lights low and great music, it can work as a perfect date night spot, or night out with the girls. read more

A warning to people who love actual Mediterranean food..this is really a cheesy hipster bar with mild Mediterranean vibe. The food(re:snacks) were good but dumb tiny portions and the full menu was a joke. Very little resembling what you'd find at a real deal Mediterranean place. I'm sure if you want to get drunk in a gentrified neighborhood with your girl that wears thrift store mom jeans circa 1992, and want to nosh on a tiny but tasty snack, then it might be for you. If you want to eat at an actual Mediterranean restaurant then go elsewhere. Fake diet Coke too. Seriously, this place is lame. read more

Amazing experience! We had great service and the food was even better. The Spanish Octopus was the best 8-tentacle preparation we've ever had. The fresh pita was just that and delicious. We will be back very soon with all of our appetite. read more

This place is so incredible. Food, ambiance, and the people behind the restaurant. It all comes together perfectly. First, the food: They bake their pita in extremely high heat in a wood-fired (moroccan-inspired, tiled) pizza oven and it comes out all puffed up, molten, warm... it is HEAVENLY. As is their hummus. Creamy and perfectly seasoned I'm always looking for a perfect hummus/pita situation and this is it. Ash'kara's only US rival (imho) is potentially Dizengoff in Philly (if it has a rival at all). Other must haves are the saganaki cheese, the carrots, the whole fish. They have what looks like a pretty special natural wine program, but didn't imbibe tonight. Next time. The ambiance is joyful, colorful, plant-filled. It's one of those dining rooms that just immediately improves your mood. Lastly, the GM is lovely -- she came over to our table and asked how our meal was. She's super knowledgable and passionate about Ash'kara and engaged in the customer experience. I'm such a super-fan from here on out! Can't wait to come back. Would give it 10 stars if I could. read more

The ambiance and food are great. Service was good. Would return and would recommend. Not sure what's up with them tipping themselves. Luckily the server was great but not sure that will breed a desire to provide good service. read more

Had a great experience here! Loved the hummus, and the pita, and basically everything else we ordered. Octopus cooked perfect. Worth checking out 100%. Looking forward to white wine on their patio this summer. read more

My bf and I came on a Saturday night and even though we had reservations, we really didn't need them. The restaurant was full but there were always some empty tables around. We got the hummus and added spring onions to start. The hummus was good, but not great and the onions didn't actually add that much flavor. The pitas they came with though.... SO GOOD. Freshly made and nice and toasty coming out. Probably some of the best I've had. We also ordered the asparagus and the whole striped bass. The asparagus had a good flavor but was overpriced for the size. The bass ended up being just ok and again, overpriced. The fish was nicely cooked and the skin was crispy and delicious. The toppings of the herbs and horseradish, while unique, didn't compliment the flavor of the fish that well. It came atop a tomato sauce that we really did like with the fish though. But everything together was just ok. Overall, not enough stands out that would make me want to come back to this place but I'm not upset that I got to try it. read more

Had a fantastic meal last night with 3 friends, a lovely patio dining experience that felt authentic to the neighborhood with cozy outdoor seating where you can actually hear what your friends are saying (ie, it was not noisy, yay!). Food was great (my favorite was the carrots and the warm pita), best of all was our waitress Christina. She was so friendly and really made us feel welcome and taken care of. Maybe the best waitress we've had anywhere in years, seriously! Only complaint was at the end of the meal we wanted a decaf cappuccino or at least decaf coffee-- and they didn't have anything decaf! So we left to try to find coffee and dessert elsewhere. But, we'll be back again and hope to stay longer if they offer decaf in the future! :-) read more

George and Josh bartenders were great, Kelsey was a fantastic service person, food was extremely over priced and small portions, I've eaten a lot of octopus but this was tough and awful, steak was tough as well. Chicken was the best entree apps were good. They supposedly got a Michelin place holder and I can't imagine how!!! Pass on this one read more

I loved the fresh pita and humus. If was really good. The cous cous was really good too. However, I was not a fan of the chicken wrap. It was $16 pre-tax/tip and was quite small and not much meat. My friend said the same thing. Their menu is quite small. 3.5 read more

Place has a great vibe, love Mediterranean cuisine although not your traditional plates here. Great hummus, and loved the fresh pita.

We were super excited when we found out a new middle eastern restaurant was opening in Denver this week, so went for dinner tonight for a celebration with a large middle eastern family we are close with. With that being said, it didn't take long to realize that Ash'Kara does not have the most authentic cuisine. We had high hopes and I'm sad to report being a bit disappointed. Menu: The menu is short and mostly limited to small plates, dips, and pita. When we asked about the size of these items, our server said they are enough for 2-3 people to each have a taste. The only other options are feasts, which are advertised to feed about 2-4 people. There are also only 3 feasts to choose from - duck tagine, vegetable tagine, and a whole fish. So unless you want to eat family style or order your own set of small plates, this may not be the place for you. One thing I did love and appreciate about the menu was the transparency and attentiveness to indicating vegan and gluten free options. I think more than half of the menu can be done gf with or without some minor changes, and they have DELICIOUS gluten free pita. That was definitely the best part! Just make sure if you have celiac to ask them to cook it on the flat top instead of in the oven with the regular pita. Ambiance: I would describe it as more of a hipster place that serves tapas style food with middle eastern flavors. Customer service: Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. Our water glasses were never empty, and the GM even made rounds to introduce himself and see how everything was after our meal. Overall: The food was good, but did not quite meet our expectations. 1 star for the gluten free pita, 1 star for accommodating food allergies and making sure I'm safe, and 1 star for the friendly staff. read more

PERFECT date spot! This is on a cute corner in the Highlands neighborhood. It was pretty hopping on a Wednesday night but we were able to get a seat at the bar and Mike the bartender took great care of us. He was thoughtful and attentive and really seemed to love his work. His recommendations did not disappoint: we had the lamb kofteh, hummus with charred onions, roasted carrots with labneh, and falafel. DELICIOUS. That was plenty for the two of us. My date's Manhattan was fantastic, so we plan to come back to try their other cocktails. read more

What a great dining experience from a warm welcome to fond farewell. The (two) hostesses were awesomely professional. Wednesday night was buzzing and the vibe was cool. The house-made hummus and pita to start rocked! Lamb kabobs were tasty and bone-in whole fish was good. The wine selection just ok but full service bar was always an option. Waitstaff friendly and attentive. 5-stars - we will be back. Great for ladies out, couples and small groups. read more

I've been here a couple of times, but this review is based on my most recent visit for a to-go order. Called in to place my to-go order, and the woman who answered and took my order was refreshingly nice to talk to. I got an order of the Babaganoush Dip, Lamb Kofte Plate and Baklava for dessert. I can't remember if I ordered it on my own, or if it came with the Babaganoush (I believe it's the later) but my order also came with a delicious pita. I was able to easily split this meal into two, and the leftovers were no disappointment. The standout for me was definitely the Lamb Kofte, the flavor was fantastic on it's own, but I couldn't get enough of the saffron yogurt that came with it. I think I've been fortunate to never have bad Babaganoush, but I enjoyed that there was some heat to this one with the tomato jalapeno salad on top, I made sure when I divided the portion that I left a little jalapeno. The baklava was the perfect meal end. When I went in to pick-up my order, via the bartender, she was happy to provide me with a drink menu and make me a to-go cocktail on the spot. I went with the espresso martini and she gave me a remedy for making it frothy again if desired by the time I got it home. Food was fantastic and overall experience made even better by the friendly people working. read more

Food is very tasty, service is very friendly but a little slow. Appetizer portions are very small for the price. Main course is big enough to share for 2, so priced accordingly. read more

I'd heard good things about the restaurant and we were excited to try it as I love Mediterranean food. Sadly, it was a very disappointing experience and we won't be back. Love the decor and atmosphere, so had high hopes, but the service was sub-par, and the cocktails were unbalanced as were the flavors of the food. The exception was the hummus and lamb, which were wonderful although the hummus portion was small. I feel like there is potential here but needs MUCH more attention and oversight from management. (Listening??) Maybe we'll try again in six months with hope that all will improve. read more

I was so excited to try this spot! Sadly it was a pretty terrible experience all around. We came in today for brunch and although our waitress Grace was super nice at first, our service wasn't good. Our food came out at odd times -there was just two of us. And then once she dropped our entrees we literally never saw her again. After 30 min we went up to the bartender and he got us boxes and the tab. We returned to him because we wanted to split the tab so each of us could pay for our own food and drinks and he told us that you do not split tabs. Which is obviously untrue. There's no way you make a guest pay for other people's food if they don't want to lol like it's insane actually. But he stuck to his guns and doubled down on that. Whatever. ADDITIONALLY there's a 20 percent service charge already added. For 2 people? I honestly usually tip 25% as I am in the service industry. But that's just super odd as well. We never did see Grace again except on our way out when her and the bartender were chopping it up in the service well laughing. I found that to be the most unprofessional thing in the end. I was hoping to try the dinner service but sadly will not be returning. Horrible experience and rude immature staff. I mean in the end what do they care? They get a 20 percent tip no matter what right? read more

Not bad but nothing special. Options limited, humus delicious, the rest was just so-so. Not sure I'd make a trip just to eat here but if I'm around the corner, I'd pop-in. read more

Great date location with good, funky music. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. This is definitely a tapas, share small plates type of place so large groups or going with folks that you don't want to share with might not be ideal. The fresh pita was nice and I found the babaganoush really tasty. Both cocktails I had (Blueberry Bliss) and Punch) were tasty with fresh ingredients. I appreciated that the manager checked in to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Don't picky eaters but so go for a fun, eclectic vibe. read more

What a cool spot in lodo that is serving up some insanely good Middle Eastern cuisine. Loved the vibe and decor - super great for date night. Dishes are served up as shareable portions which means you can try a-little of everything. Hummus is a must- it was rich in flavor, and the warm pita was to die for! Other notable dishes - roasted carrots (probably my favorite!) so tender and delicious! the falafel, again super flavorful but a bit dry. And last but definitely not least the Duck Tagine, the combination of the dried fruit, couscous and date syrup really take this dish to the next level. Give this spot a try if you haven't been! read more

Simply fabulous dining experience in "Mediterranean" food. Ordered cocktails and a bunch of small plates and everything was perfectly presented, flavorful, and high-quality food. Everyone on Yelp raved about the hummus but I thought the real star was the babaganoush. The fresh baked pita was fantastic with it. Had the lamb and octopus--both delish, but most impressed that the octopus was cooked so tenderly. Didn't have space for the tag i.e., but it's definitely on my list of things to eat the next time I'm in Denver. The only reason it's not 5 stars...? The price. Despite that, I'll still go back. read more

Omg! I will never come here again. We sat down at 5:38 and by 6:45 we had been told 6 times that they needed the table at 7:15. Omg! My friend and I were having a conversation and were interrupted every 7 minutes to be informed that they needed the table at 7:15. And then, they had the audacity to charge a $13 service charge to the bill AND expect a tip!? We went out to happy hour to relax and chat and this was exactly opposite. I won't support a greedy place like this! If they couldn't serve us, they should not have seated us but they wanted our money and then to get us out the door. read more

We went here on Saturday night for dinner with some girlfriends and you need to make a reservation here for sure! Since it's such a newer restaurant and they don't have a ton of tables inside, it's a must. We got the hummus to start off with and it was delicious. I'd recommend the lamb, it was cooked to perfection. They have a bunch of fancy drinks and a good variety of wine. I could tell that the waitress was pretty nervous or maybe this was her first time being a waitress so we tried not to be too demanding but they could up that for sure. The decor inside is so adorable and the bartender was very on-it! read more

Excellent on top of excellent, with a side of excellent! My wife and I were in town visiting our children and granddaughter and I asked for Mediterranean. My daughter-in-law didn't hesitate. Overpriced food with small portions and awful service. Waited too long for the server to acknowledge us or give us water refills. The "Middle East feast" is definitely not worth $45 - or even $25. We were served 4 of the same dishes cooked differently and was not worth the pay. Will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone. read more

I order from Ash'Kara for the first time (and did pickup) and it was wonderful! I've had a craving for good Middle Eastern food, especially fresh hummus, for a while and it totally hit the spot. I ordered the hummus + pita, tuna ceviche, lamb kofte, and wood roasted carrots. All were delicious, with my favorite being the lamb kofte. I really enjoyed the contrasting flavors in each dish - such as the accompanying saffron yogurt with dried fruit for the lamb kofte and pistachio spread accompanying the carrots. Ordering through Door Dash for pickup was easy, and everything was well packed and still beautifully presented even though it was takeout. Looking forward to enjoying my leftovers and will order pick-up again to try out more from the menu. read more

Thanks to Askara, we were abke to find an awesome sushi restaurant called Mizu! So in short, skip Askara and head down to Mizu if you don't want to literary be forced to sit on stools in the back near the oven eventhough 60% of the tables were available! The lady seating us later gave us "permission" to sit at a table up front stating that the table was reserved for a party coming in a couple of hours, we weren't planning on spending the whole night there so we gladly accepted. We waited for a server for more than 20 min and upon no service we had no other choice but to leave! As the lady seating us knew we only had the table for two hours, why couldn't she have expedited service, why couldn't the restaurant make more money off the table, why didn't she send a server asap so we could order and get out in time?... are some questions the owner's need to consider. I really hope Askara doesn't go under just because of the attitude of the lady at the door and poor management. read more
