The food is good but a little overpriced. I like the Mexican omelette, the avocado club, and the steak and eggs. The chefs are really efficient and know their stuff. It's a running joke in Eureka how they only hire young, thin, blonde waitresses. The waitstaff looks like a Scandinavian soccer team. If you're "weird-looking," expect to get seated on the lower level. Do Not Use Liquid Cheesewhiz Plastic-Stuff On Real Food. This was especially horrible because most of the rest of the ingredients were actually fresh and decent, and were utterly ruined by that disgusting congealed plastic mass that was supposed to be cheese. The experience of eating it disgusted me so much I couldn't even really finish the rest of my dinner, which was miserable considering how long I'd been driving, and we still had to get to Crescent City. Nonetheless the friend I was traveling with had a reasonably decent if completely uninspiring dish and all in all, while the one particular dish I ordered was horrible the quality of the restaurant and presentation were not bad enough to rate only one star. I stopped here for breakfast on my way out of town. Adel's appears to be one of the many "family" style restaurants you'll find around the country. The hostess and server were very friendly, which is always nice when you're trying some place new. Service was also pretty quick. I didn't wait too long for my meal. I ordered Joe's San Francisco Special...I think the people of San Francisco might want to reconsider the association. It was a skillet type dish with potatoes covered with seasoned beef, spinach, mushrooms, scrambled eggs. The most complimentary thing I can say about it was that there was a lot of food. The potatoes weren't seasoned. The seasoned beef was bland. I tried upping the flavor factor with tabasco, salt, and pepper but it just didn't help. I have a feeling I should have gone with pancakes. Always friendly service, reasonable prices and good for breakfast or lunch. Happy they serve Benedict now. They serve dinner as well, but we don't tend to go in the evenings. Can get pretty busy during certain times but there are lots of tables. The French toast is good, the popcorn chicken. The chicken fried steak is good too. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out on a Saturday evening. We walked in and was greeted by their friendly staff. It was pretty quiet for a restaurant that evening, but it was nice. For appetizer, we ordered the "giant nachos" (w/chicken) and boy, it was amazing! We also ordered the grilled avocado club sandwich and that was pretty tasty as well. Food: Great Atmosphere: Great Waitresses: Depends I have visited this restaurant many times, however there is a HUGE difference between night staff and morning staff. If you can't wake up and have a smile on your face, maybe you shouldn't be a morning waitress. I used to come in more for breakfast, however now it seems all the staff is very clique-ish and huddles around. I'm an older woman so I don't feel as though they are talking about me, but it is just very unprofessional. It is also very unprofessional to see girls on their cell phones walking around or putting on makeup in the back. Night staff however all seems to laugh and have fun WITH us customers and it is greatly appreciated. They just have an overall warmer attitude, even the male manager. I have always had a waitress that paid me enough attention, however it seems the dinner-time staff is more warming. Food on the other hand though seems to be prepared excellent no matter when you come in. I always get HEAPING plates for a reasonable cost. Whether I'm having a burger in the morning or an omlette at lunch the food is prepared exceptional. read more

I was really disappointed. Came here for the first time last night on good reviews from friends for valentines day and got the special ("shrimp scampi and filet mignon") what I got in reality was a steak with "wine sauce" which was obviously hollandaise mixed with mustard and 4 shrimp in a little bowl. There wasn't even butter sauce on my shrimp. When I asked for butter sauce the waitress brought me back a cup of butter... Umm.... Thanks? Had I ordered a steak and a side of shrimp, this would have been quite satisfying. But calling it a filet mignon and shrimp scampi and slapping a high price on it to boot was a bit of a stretch Poor service over all. Very disappointed, won't be coming back anytime soon read more

Our 2015 road trip lasted 14+ days, was 5,538 miles long, and went through 15 different states, and we spent the night at 14 distinct locations in 13 cities. But like all good things, this adventure had to reach its conclusion, and after our last night in Brookings, Oregon, we were ready to come home. After a night of almost no sleep, we crossed the border back into California just after 6AM. Traffic this Friday morning was light, so we cruised through Crescent City and enjoyed the run down the Del Norte Coast, even though we couldn't get too many good ocean views, what with the fog and all. And then we reached Eureka just after 8, and voila! There was traffic. After a day where we ran into everybody and their brother coming down the Oregon Coast, we were eagerly anticipating a day of freeways or effective freeways. With the town of Willits now receiving a wraparound of US 101, the only cities north of San Francisco that will still have traffic lights will be Crescent City and Eureka. But as we looked along the Redwood Highway for a spot to have breakfast, nothing was grabbing our eye. We were worried that we might have to stop at the Bayshore Mall, especially considering that it probably wasn't open at this hour, when we saw Adel's pop up on our right. "Let's stop here" I said to the wife. She didn't argue. After two weeks of having breakfasts included with our hotel rooms, it was nice to actually have a simple café, with a waitress to serve us as you'd expect. It's an actual restaurant. As I'm not an egg person, I ordered a short stack of flapjacks and coffee, whereas she ordered some sort of omelet. Waitress was nice and expedient, food filled me up for the balance of the ride, and the coffee gave me enough energy to move forward. While there's nothing about this café that you haven't ever seen before, the restaurant takes full advantage of its location to give the traveler a good, relaxing meal. read more

Adel's is okay. I was just passing through, looking for sit-down, family diner type of food. Sick of fast food, I decided to give them a try. I ordered a corned beef omelet for lunch. The food was just okay, similar to what I'd expect from a Denny's. But the quantity was huge! It was a substantial amount of food for not a lot of money. My big plate was completely covered with omelet and hash browns (plus coffee) for only 12 bucks. The menu was ridiculously huge. I've given this place 3 chances. I heard it was great but not a single time was. First time: asked for a rare steak. They tried 2 times, both it was well done. And the sides were mediocre at best. 2nd time I tried to get a rare steak, same thing except I didn't bother to ask for a new one. The last time really chapped my ass. My wife asked for a Rueben. Comes on rye with sauerkraut. Was brought to my wife with no sauerkraut. My wife asked the waiter why it didn't have it and the waiter got in an argument with my wife about how it doesn't come with it. My wife finally just got up and grabbed a menu from the podium and showed the waitress. Who with great anger said okay fine, and brought her cold a sandwich out with cold sauerkraut. We haven't gone in a really long time. The food we ordered was delicious. My oldest got the fish n chips and said it was so good. My youngest got the country fried steak and ate it all(he's my picky eater). I got the marinated steak special and the steak was cooked perfectly, the garlic mashed potatoes was delicious as well. In Eureka for work and it's not easy finding good places to eat. The staff here is very friendly and the food was very good. Its definitely a diner with regulars and that says a lot. My waitress was Sarah and she was super nice and kind. When eating alone most of the time the wait staff kinda ignores you and barely checks in but Sarah had perfect timing and made sure I had everything I wanted/needed. ADEL's Restaurant I tried to purchase Adels, some years ago, they ain't selling. It is a gold mine. Fantastic location and a few dedicated people, who run it very efficiently. I have eaten at "Mrs. G's", then "Adel's" Restaurant, for over 30 years. Was a customer at least 5+ times a week. I don't like to cook. As I was there last, had ordered my meal and was sitting there waiting on my food, I observed a newer waitress, who was attempting to take the orders of a group of people. I could see that there must have been some difficulties, by her body language and posturing, the tilting of head, the dropping of hands by her side, turning palms up, in the mannerism of maybe frustration, or surrender. A few minutes later, the waitress who was seemingly having difficulties with a larger party of guests came to the counter, maybe 3 feet from me, doing something on her order pad. As to be polite, I inquired, "How are you?" The girl stopped what she was doing, to raise her voice at loudly exclaim, (In her exact words) "I'm too busy right now, I do not have time to talk to you!" I did respond, "Wow! That was extremely inappropriate." calmly, while feeling a bit shocked and embarrassed. Unsure if she was listening, or even heard me. I strongly felt insulted and embarrassed by her loud outburst, with so many other customers nearby. Making me look like a 60+ year old pervert, trying to pick up on some young girl, or something. I was not flirting with her, nor asking for conversation. I only inquired of her on how she was. Only to be polite, as we were raised to be, in my generation. I had not intended any further exchange, beyond that. It would seem more reasonable, for her, to have just responded with something in the nature of: "I'm too busy to talk" - "Busy as Heck" - "I'm good, just busy" - etc. It would have taken less effort and time, being she was "busy". She exerted extra effort and time, just to be rude or aggressive. I realize that she may have been in distress, due to a former interaction, but that is not cause, nor justification, to inflict verbal abuse onto others. When I mentioned the outburst to my waitress, she justified the actions by stating that, "the people in the other seating area had been rude" to her. When I asked to speak with a management person, I was told that no one was available. After about four telephone attempts, I spoke with a lady who identified herself as management. I attempted to explain what had transpired, she was not really interested in what might have happened. I had to even ask her, (Exact words) "Do you even want to know what happened?" (In her defense, I did call around the noon lunch hour.) She responded, "I have customers, but I will listen." She did not suggest, request, or ask that I might call at another, or a recommended time. After all, it took 5 attempts, to get this far. It was clear to me, that she really didn't care about the incident. An experienced manager, or one who cared, would have made arrangements for a follow up call, or asked for a phone number. A month later, I was able to talk to Juan, the Manager. As we had discussed the incident, at the far end of the restaurant. Juan apologized, for the incident and I was just about ready to leave. We were interrupted by one of the waitresses, who walked up to us and said, "You're making us uncomfortable, so I'm calling the police." Juan, told her not to call the police. I volunteered to wait, if they had. I had done nothing and would appear guilty, if I left, to avoid police. I inquired to Juan, what I had done wrong or inappropriately. I asked, "Did I have a loud voice?" He answered, "No." I asked, "Was I violent?" "Juan responded, "No". I asked, "Did I use curse words, or threaten anyone?" He responded, "No". I waited for 18 minutes in the parking lot to see if the police came. Did not want to appear I was evading them. No cops showed up. The initial reason for the complaint to Adel's was, as a businessman, if someone working for me, representing my business, had interactions like these, I would definitely want to know. So the treatment of customers is not an important concern, it would seem. And any complaints are met with strong resistance, even to the threat of calling the police. read more

Adel's was such a huge disappointment. I love diner food, and always prefer to choose local joints over a big chain, like Denny's. But geez. I'm not sure where on earth all of these positive reviews are coming from... did I somehow end up in a different restaurant? What happened? Here's my experience: my boyfriend and I went to Adel's for a late lunch on a Saturday. I ordered strawberry and cream waffles with a side of hashbrowns (for lunch, yep), and the s/o had an omelet with a side of bacon. The waffles were competent. Not amazing, but I wouldn't have complained...but the strawberries, which had a heated strawberry sauce over them, were completely frozen. So... they tried to make it feel like they'd made a compote (which would NOT be difficult or time-consuming) by dumping strawberry syrup over strawberries they clearly hadn't bothered to defrost at all? I guess? I know strawberries aren't in season, but... at least don't serve me ice, please. My boyfriend knew something was wrong when I stopped eating halfway through my waffles. And also because he'd begun to suspect that this place wasn't very good when he bit into his bacon: it was like a motel's hot case continental breakfast bacon in that it was ridiculously overcooked and dry, as well as lukewarm... as though all flavor had been fried out of it hours before and the crumbling, charred remains were served later to us. His omelet was mediocre, for the record. And once he convinced me to complain to the waitress, she replaced the waffles. No strawberries this time, at my request. So, to be clear: my problem with Adel's is with the kitchen or management--wherever the decision to serve reheated (or still-frozen) food is coming from. The waitstaff was great! read more

If you have kids...they are super accommodating!!!!!!! So the food isn't bad, atmosphere is super chill, and the strawberry lemonade is L-E-G-I-T! On their eggs Benedict though it's shaved ham like deli meat. That bugs me...in my opinion it should be a thick slice of ham...don't deny me the pork my friends!!!!! :) All in all though....great service, chill diner, kids were happy, food was good. read more

Adels is reliable and fast even when relatively crowded. It's a classic diner with a pretty solid and extensive menu. Typical american diner food of burgers, hot sandwiches, etc. They serve a good breakfast all day too It's nothing fancy, but the wait staff is quick and friendly, the cooks are efficient. Food always comes hot, beverages always stay filled. You can sit at the counter too. Remember 3 stars means A-Ok! Adels fits that description perfectly. read more

I love Adel's Restaurant. I work there and eat there all the time when I'm off work. I know for a fact that we are extremely sanitary and do whatever we can to make sure our guests enjoy their meal and have a pleasant experience. We have lots of fresh fruit, fresh salads and veggies, grass-fed beef burgers cooked to your liking, and a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. Portions are huge and the desserts are just as fun as anything else you'll find on the menu. Guava mimosas and fresh strawberry & cream crepes drizzled with chocolate sauce and served with a side a four slices of perfectly cooked bacon? Yes, please! Fresh roasted quality corned beef and cabbage served with red potatoes and carrots every Tuesday for lunch?
