Love it for weekend brunch (get the special) and love it for dinner (the filet with the gorg butter is my fav). Also, don't sleep on the homemade cheesecake, it is bomb! They can seat 12 max at tables and double that at the bar. You may want to call for a reservation. We just walked in on a Sunday night and got lucky. Service was so-so, as they need more servers. First of all there was plenty of parking after 5pm in an adjacent lot. Liked the vibe of the place. They played classic rock and songs i liked. My $29 14 oz steak was wonderful and came with a salad and baked potato. Food was wonderful. My husband got the fish and chips, which he says was excellent. They looked authentic to me and he said to say he is English and he should be a good judge of fish and chips. Portion size was large (3 pieces) and chips and good sauces on the side. We just left there, having walked in 2 hours before there posted closing time, to be rudely told that the kitchen was no longer accepting orders. Why advertise yourself as open for dinner until 10:30 if that's not true? It was our first, and now last, time there and a special occasion. But it seems like they don't care about impressing diners with their food. If the food is anything like the service, I'm glad we dodged that bullet. Plus it's across the street from the county jail so it was really dodgy walking to the joint with lots of sketchy people hanging around, inside the place and out on the street. It's written on right side and left side walls . So when people are sitting all over the place , you can not read the menu on the wall . You need to go close yo the wall next to people who are sitting next to those walls to be able to read the whole menu. They said they don't have burgers. Lunch menu was not also available. That's obvious, because I went at 6:30 pm . So I didn't want steak and fillet mignonette and pork That's basically all they had . A friend of mine recommended this place for steak so I wanted to check it out for myself. The bar is located near the Humboldt County Jail and there are many different characters in the area before you are able to get inside the restaurant. The bar/restaurant has that dive bar feeling. I was skeptical about ordering food here at first, but why not? I ordered the Filet Mignon 8oz the first night. The Filet Mignon came out as ordered and it was delicious. I enjoyed this place, so I came back the very next day. I ordered the Ribeye 16 oz. the next day. The Ribeye also came out as I ordered it and was delicious! The service was good and the bartenders and servers were attentive. I would definitely come back here when I am back in the area. The only complaint I had about this place was that there was a smoke smell. I am not sure if it was coming from the back patio, but it was a smell that I did not enjoy. We came in on a Sunday evening after a recommendation from Carter House Inn; our party of 4 got the ribeye steaks and WOW. AMBIANCE: Our party of four grabbed some open bar seats and we were acknowledged immediately for our drink orders and also kindly pointed out the chalkboard menus for our food choices. We all went with the ribeye steaks which came with a salad or soup and also a side of fries or baked potato or onion rings. The U-shaped bar was very cool and the screens on the walls showed either the games that were on, or something easy to watch like TheChive TV or Family Feud. FOOD: The flavor of the steaks (16 oz ribeyes!) are amazing and deeply meaty, the texture is tender and if you go for the gorgonzola butter, honestly takes the steak to the next level. If you're not a fan of blue cheese, the included horseradish sauce cuts through the fattiness of the steak if you need it. We chatted with Ariel and she mentioned that the meat is cut in-house which may affect the quality and hey, if so it really does matter. The doneness of the steaks were perfect. It's rare (ha) to have a place make a true medium rare and this place certainly does it right. Honestly one of the best steaks I've had and I've had Ruth Chris or Nick and Stef's - this place wins every time! SERVICE: We were traveling with folks from out of town and everyone was super kind and welcoming.
