I'm visiting Eureka and wandered into Ernie's without knowing what to expect -- and it ended up being one of the best bar experiences I've ever had. It's full of true locals, the kind of place where everyone seems to know each other, but they still made me feel completely at home. The people were friendly, the drinks were great, and the whole space just has this comfortable, welcoming vibe you can't fake. I had an amazing time here and genuinely didn't want to leave. If you're visiting Eureka and want a bar where you instantly feel like part of the community, this is the spot. I'll definitely be back. read more

It's a friendly safe local bar. There are neat people in there & the bartenders are kind.

Smaller dive bar with in and patio seating. Full bar with bottled beers in window fridge side of bar. Chill friendly little spot relaxing after work before we go home. Prices are reasonable, lots of street parking and friendly bartender. read more

Calling Ernie's a dive bar falls so short of what it has to offer. New owners are bringing back the nostalgia, revamping to Ernie's earlier decor with a hip update. I loved the "Strawbwars" shrup inspired cocktail with the cheeky name "Bandalorian" for its strawberry banana vodka combo. Very refreshing. The homemade shrubs are to die for, adding imaginative cocktails to the classics. This one is a must when I come to town. read more

As far as small, local neighborhood bars go, this is pretty quintessential. There's not much to the place: it has a patio to the side for smoking, it has a few beers on tap and a few more in the bottle. Apparently there is champagne on tap, but I've never tried it. No food to speak of (no kitchen), but they do offer you some pretzels and the like. A few tables to congregate at. This is a small space, but it's comfortable inside. Overall, if you're looking for a smaller dive bar, this is the place in Eureka. No pool table, no kitchen, but a decent juke box. read more

Love this little bar! Champagne on tap, great jukebox and an outdoor smoking area. Last night Ande was bar tending. That girl single handedly kept everyone taken care of. Great mixed drinks, offers sparkly "princess" water for designated drivers, calls a cab if you need it and seems to have fun all at the same time. We'll be back soon. read more

Dont go here. I want to make sure there's a seat available for me at my favorite watering hole. For all the poor reviews, understand you have to have Nor-Cal etiquette. As for the tweekers out front, I've never seen any but eureka is full of zombies so its not impossible. I like the way most of the regulars remember me even though I lived two hours away. It reminds me of a bar with a lot of old jockies. The front door is classic. Every bartender has been cool as fuck, but I go during the day and typically tip $2 a drink. read more

I have to be honest.. my boyfriend and I live not too far away from this bar.. so we thought we would check it out based on convenience ... we did not expect too much...i just moved here from so. cal.. so yes.. I have a different expectations than what I've been used too since coming to eureka.. but I have to say, I had an amazing time tonight.. Everyone was so nice, and Andy (the bartender,) was so great and friendly and I honestly cant wait to go back. If you have a sense of humor, and have a good time in general... I'm sure you world have a great time here.. (snobby) people... maybe not so much.. but you are missing out. Horrible service....I've been coming to this bar for years mainly because it's close to my house, but I'll never go back again, because one of the bartender is litterally psychotic. She screamed at me because I tried to order my drink with my friend when she ordered. Then she screamed at me not to "interrupt and be rude." Then when I said nevermind I won't have a drink after all, she said "oh are you going to cry now and tell the principle, are you going to tell the principle on me" very antagonistically. I asked her if I had done something to offend her, and all she could do is keep screaming at me about telling the principle. I don't even know what that statements supposed to mean. It seemed like she was pretty drunk anyway. Needless to say I will never go back, I'm not used to being verbally abused by drunk bartenders when I go out. read more

This is my favorite local bar. The bartenders are great, the atmosphere is definitely friendly. As a single woman, it is a safe place, the men are respectful or they are out of there. I've had some cool adventures there; dancing around and getting to know a variety of people. The scene changes depending on the time of day, so you have to sample morning, afternoon, and night to see what suits you. read more
