Luckily, we are in walking distance to The Palm at Eureka Inn. Been there many times & have always enjoyed the live music. The ambiance is lush, cozy & dark. I really liked this place! The old hotel gave real ambience to the venue. Dark walls made from wood, long creepy hallways, a nice reception lounge where you could sit & mingle. I've never been before but they had a Halloween Party going on and the DJ had the dance floor packed. The drinks were pretty strong and the only disappointment was a small bar and slow bar service. It took up to 30 mins to get a drink. I was told on off nights it a cool place to come and relax and enjoy. Will have to give it a try! read more

I'm pretty torn on how to rate this place. On the one hand, it is dated and its age is showing. Bartenders were a bit surly and brash. No interesting cocktails are offered. On the other hand, it was a totally memorable experience. Though we just popped in for a drink, we were completely entertained by the bartenders and their interaction with the other customers. My drink was really strong too, so it was a good value. Since we stayed in the hotel, it was a nice place to grab a nightcap and take in the local flavor. So, I'm going with three stars - don't go out of your way to visit, but don't avoid it either! read more

I went here for a free comedy show by Savage Henry. It was a fun show and worth every cent! The room was packed, but I think there were a bunch of people there who did not know about the show and they kept talking throughout the show... The lounge was neat and comfortable. I got a mint mojito... I would give it 2 out of 5 stars. read more

I really love this bar inside an old hotel. Their drinks are always delicous and competitively priced. They sometimes have comedy shows and different events going on that makes it a lot of fun. If you go during the holidays you get to witness the hotels fully decorated tree that is beautiful! read more

The bartenders are welcoming, and they make great mixed drinks. Ginger beer is here. + for whiskey. There are short tables for mingling. Plenty of room, Bar chairs and small tables along the outside, and nice lighting. This space is different and calm, with a couple pool tables and air hockey in the back. Oh... Dance floor. read more

Four stars for a neat, old lounge in an historic hotel. We stopped by after 10 p.m.ish on a Saturday night and there was live band playing some good music. It's dark inside with nice mood lighting and decor. There is also a large side room that looks like an old hall. The prices are reasonable and the bartender made a good gin and tonic. Would go back if I made my way to Eureka again. read more

I'm really impressed by the bar tenders and the level of cocktails they serve. All the drinks a fresh and usually include some sort if ripe berry or herb. I love the look of the bar and the dark lounge. I really dig the fireplace and the back room. I love being in this place during arts alive. Go here and have a fancy drink! read more

Best bar in Humboldt. Inviting and friendly staff especially our bartender, Jason. He was on the ball and made us the most delicious mixed drinks I've ever tasted. I feel so terrible writing this, but I had a HORRIBLE experience here. The new bar manager and bartender were so incredibly rude and not understanding. They accused me of not being the person on my ID and I had to fight to get it back. They also accused me of not being able to pay my tab. Honestly, I was drunk from the Primus concert. I thought I gave them my card, they said I did not. I assured them that I was not going anywhere and that my ride would be there soon to square up with them. So in good faith I gave them my drivers licence. I only ordered a shot and a cocktail. Once my boyfriend got there to square up they were rude to him and made him wait quite a while. While he waited to pay the tab the manager dragged me out into the lobby and told me to get the f*** out and that he was keeping my ID. That is my genuine ID, so I got angry, and yes, I yelled back (I'm nothing but a 100lbs minute of a girl). He threw it on the floor at my feet and 86'd me. Finally my boyfriend came out, the damage was a whopping $10. The next morning I called to cancel my lost card. The last charge was the Eureka Inn for $10. They charged my card and my boyfriends card. I will admit that I was drunk but I did not get angry until I began to be treated with great disrespect. I used to come here often. Now I will never come here again. Nice new bar manager, real peach :( read more

This place gives you great value for your dollar! All the cocktails are strong and the bartenders seem very nice. My only downside for this place is that it does not get very busy it's almost dead sometimes even on Friday or Saturday nights. I know humboldt county is small and it may sometimes be difficult to tap into the bar market place but I would say it might be a good idea to get a promoter to bring some people in or maybe even feature a more well known comedian or performer. read more

I've stayed at the Inn on a few trips and have patronized the bar (Palm Lounge) on other trips when I have stayed in Eureka. The hotel has a lot of potential but I am not impressed with the type of entertainment they book in their lounge. Very inappropriate music, twerking contests, foul mother comedy acts. On a few trips it was the same DJ group, {Anya Pressure?} playing god know what kind of mixes and genres of music. It is NOT the kind of entertainment I would expect in a hotel of this class. Of the 10+ times I've been to the hotel, only once did I enjoy a relaxing jazz band. Whoever books these other clowns should be replaced. read more

My last (and final) visit to the Palm Lounge was two nights ago. My friends and I went to see the stand-up comedy performances, Well, it was downright creepy!! Despite being among the only customers it took an embarrassingly long time to receive two glasses of wine and a virgin Tom Collins. At one point I walked back to our table and asked my companions to go up to try their luck. Priced at $10 a pour, the wine barely covered the bottom of the glass. Still, I tipped $5 and gave the bartender my card to open a tab. When I returned to the bar to get a second round, the bartender ignored me AGAIN. It was surreal!! I went back to the table and told my companions if they wanted another drink, they would have to get it themselves. The stand-up comedy was very bleak, the cast of characters "performing" appeared more likely candidates waiting to receive their morning methadone. The lovely venue was a wash when grouped with such appalling service and pathetic entertainment. read more
