I always like visiting dive bars - they tend to offer up the best assessment of a city's townfolk. Happy to say that Dave's fit my expectations. Friendly staffperson behind the bar, a robust selection of beer, and best of all, clientele that are easy to interact with. Even though Eureka has the reputation of being perhaps a bit rough around the edges, for me I found this place to be anything and everything I would want, particularly with respect to cheap drinks, nonjudgmental people, and a generally chill atmosphere, and not necessarily in that order. I been going to Dave's place for year's and I have never had any reason to say anything bad about this establishment up intill now! My friend and I recently went there on a Saturday night and as soon as we entered the Bar the bartender ran around the bar got right in my face and blurted out I'm not serving you with no explanation or reason given to her actions. I nor my buddy have never been abduly or caused any problems in this bar and have always been respectful so We were both wondering what was wrong with her. About 5min passed a she returned yelling at me that I talked shit about her and I was 86 out of the bar. I believe that I was set up because 3 months prior she accused the same friend I was with that she had problems with him in the passed . I we asked her for was to help assist us on directions on how to run the juke box and she losses it. I then left a message with the owner of the bar , explaining the juke box incident which I never got a response. Later I went to the bar with another friend of mine and the owner was there it was then that I spoke to her about her bartender and explained that she had treated us unfair and accused my friend foul play in the pass. He swore up and down that she was sadly mistaken and that he lives in Rio del and hasn't been to Dave's for years . Well we finished our drinks and left enough was enough for that evening. We'll months had passed and my good friend came down to visit and we decided to walk over to Dave's place about 830pm still very early , like I said walk in to a semi packed joint only to get kicked out for nothing , but showing up together nothing more. I didn't get angry nor cause any problems, which I do believe the bartender was trying to accomplish on her first attempt and when that didn't work she came back a second time to take it further 86 me out of the place. So what did I do I again contacted the owner to inform her that a second incident has occurred and I and my friend would like to meet up to discuss what had happened, but this isn't going to happen because the owner text me telling me that I am not welcomed back into her establishment. So with that being said she well knowing that this bartender has treated me and my friend with out cause or an9y reason to be kicked out of her bar . So what kind of review would I give this place if you like being discriminate against and singled out because of no reason at all go to Dave's place where favoritism is practiced on a daily basis . In other words stay far far away from this place it's bad news my friends. read more

Only my second time there. Was illegal gambling in the back corner table with a young Filipino guy who tried to force me out side to fight me. The bartender would not listen to me at all and repeatedly told me I was awful and a bad person. I explained multiple times that I was sober and new and simply trying to enjoy an evening out while my 8 month old Child slept and she insulted me and refused to hear my side. The date was the evening of June 16 and I will not be visiting again. That "bartender" needs reeducation. Thank you to the previous bartenders I met last week. read more

Recently had a good friend of mine who went there to get a beer. He provided his U.S. Passport and was denied service. Last time I checked a passport was just as good as a drivers license. Hopefully him being yellow didn't play a part of being denied service. I would recommend dirtywood. They accept passports and all ethnicities. read more

Dave's is one of my standard "go to" places in Eureka. The bartenders are personable, fast, and friendly. There's usually a diverse crowd of different ages. The jukebox is good and you're able to bring in grub if you're hungry. If you go to Daves, chances are, you'll make a new friend or at least, have a good laugh. Just go. It's fun! :) read more

Every time I have been to Dave's Place the bartenders are so friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The other customers are also very friendly and welcoming. Basically a great bar. Our first time here was New Years. GREAT bloody Mary's, and great atmosphere. Met a couple good friends there. ANYWAY, when we were there we asked owner if we could vape there. She said yes and rolled her eyes at the request. All night we vaped and there was no issue...fast forward to tonight...we spent $100 bucks for 2 people and we were told we can't vape. Excellent neighborhood bar. Clean, comfortable, and friendly. You feel right at home. Easy to get to know the bartender and they are there for you whether a group, single male or female, or a couple. Great place to meet the local folks in the neighborhood. Sports occupy the TV screens and that is a plus. Juke box music and a small area to dance. Lots of fun! read more
