Due to the looks of neighborhood (especially since we don't live in the area) we thought we were going into a sketch dive. We couldn't have been more wrong. We all had fish and chips the batter was delish. The girl servicing tables was the only one there and she rocked it. Mom wanted to try the clamp chowder. I ordered the Reubano which was excellent. Chowder was topped with a large layer of unseasoned croutons and looked unappealing. Mom said it was OK. This place has had a complete Renaissance. When I was in high school in the 70s, you would see in the police blotter in the local paper all the time, three words. "Vista Del Mar." It has also had a few unsavory nicknames that I could not repeat here. Over the years, it's changed owners and names a few times. The current owners took it over in 2016, and it's wonderful now. Just a nice neighborhood restaurant/bar. I decided to do an order of the shrimp and chips each for my dad and I, as well as 2 cups of the clam chowder. Everything was very good. The fries were tender, with a good flavor, and they were very generous with the shrimp. They were not over breaded or greasy. They came with an absolutely delicious cocktail sauce. The clam chowder was rich with lots of clams, the only thing I could possibly say, was that I thought the veggies in the clam chowder were a little bit al dente for my personal taste. Holy Toledo. I came here with my family on the recommendation of a friend, who said they have the best fish tacos. And since I have kiddos, and it's a bar, we got the tacos to go, and had them in the car, overlooking the water! Wowie was she right! We all loved them! They were spicy, but in the best way possible! I only ran in to get the food and pay, but it was clean and spacious inside, and nice and neat outside. Plus their service was snappy and friendly! So we'll be back if we have the opportunity! Wow...Hidden gem! Starting with the clam chowder, which is exactly what a good clam chowder is...herb and clam forward! Not to thick, not to thin. Just yummy! A great little hole in the wall bar that had a community feeling. Located on the edge of town in a warehouse district, the outside of this bar is unappealing and we almost didn't go in. But once we did, we knew this was the place in town to get some good brews and food. Loved our meal. Loved watching all of the other customers young and old coming in. Driving up and gazing upon the Vista Del Mar, if you're a "judge a book by its cover" person, you'll probably turn around and go somewhere else. And you'd be doing yourself quite a disservice. Vista Del Mar is THE place the locals go. There were two people covering the bar and tables: one was the bartender/server and the other was a busboy. The pink haired, tattooed, bartender is both friendly and sarcastic and knows almost everyone who walks through the door. If she doesn't know you, you're instantly welcomed into the family. We chatted with a couple of tables. She took our drink orders and slipped away to help literally everyone else. We split the nachos and shrimp po'boy and got tots with it. The nachos come with homemade chips which were crunchy and delicious, yet light and airy. The nacho cheese has a nice little kick to it along with their sweet pico de gallo and jalapeños. The po' boy was big enough to share. The shrimp was huge and delicious, the bun was light and fluffy with a slight crisp and held up the shrimp, lettuce and roumelade sauce. Everything was truly fantastic! And we had stumbled upon this place on our trip down the 101 and looking up great places to eat in Eureka, CA. So, if you ever find yourself out this way, make it a point to stop in and grab a bite at the Vista Del Mar. You'll be glad you did read more

Found this place on a whim after a long day in Trinidad. I was speaking to a local and she raved about the food here so we went in with expectations and Vista Del Mar did not disappoint. Get the firecracker tacos, just get it!!! We had both the shrimp and fish, both were delicious but I highly recommend the shrimp. The shrimp tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly, love the flavors of the tropical pico. The quesadilla burger was delicious (be prepared for a mess) and the beef patty was cooked perfectly. The fish and chips are always a good idea when seaside. The accompanying fries were probably some of the best I've had, crispy yet soft. There are plenty of tables but there's a sign that suggests sitting at the bar for better service. The place is clean and cool, nice reprieve from a hot and humid day. It was busy and there only seemed to be 1 staff member who was working both the bar and the tables, but there were no issues with service. She was friendly and super efficient. We were a group of tourists looking for a quic dinner in downtown Eureka, and what looks like just a dive bar at first is actually a great spot for some fresh local seafood. I had the fried oysters and chips, and I have to say that the oysters weren't the best HOWEVER! everyone else's food was amazing (according to both them and me, since my family knows I like to sample their food ). The calamari was some of the best I've ever had! We were all super impressed with the seafood here. The bartender is also so sweet and friendly, and she is absolutely killing it at handling the drinks and serving by herself. The portions are so large you might as well as for the box when you place your order. It was slower than most times I've been here, there were actually two open tables .
