I was so happy to find this little spot in downtown Eureka. The space itself is super fun with wonderful energy and really cool aesthetic touches. We were served right away and the hostess was very nice and located at two top for us. The wait person was lovely and immediately accommodating. The menu was interesting and inviting. I had to laugh out loud as there is an item on the menu referencing Pee-wee's Playhouse from my childhood. I even asked if it was a Gen X restaurant and sure enough the chef is of my generation. I'm including a picture so IYKYK! The waitress had shared all of the specials, and I was intrigued by the flat iron steak option. It was a flat iron steak with marsala mushroom sauce, and mushroom risotto and asparagus. It was delightful! The meat was perfectly cooked and tender with a lot of beef flavor, offset by a rich marsala mushroom sauce. It was perfectly complimented by one of the top mushroom risotto I have had in my life. It was delectable. And the grilled asparagus side paired nicely with the beef and marsala sauce. It even had a little bit of lemon on the asparagus, which is my preference for it! Overall, this is probably in the top five of all of the restaurant meals I've had in my life. My husband had the mixed beef burger with fries. He said he really enjoyed the burger, and I did steal a tiny taste, and it was perfectly cooked and had a slight gameness that gave it some depth. My husband said that the bun was very nice as well. The fries were perfectly cooked. The burger was perfectly cooked and it wasn't over juicing nor dry. Overall, a really great burger! Funniest thing we noticed was that all of the chairs that were sitting on a cement floor had been given rubber caps for each of the legs so that when you moved the chair, it didn't make a horrible sound. First off to start, I'm unsure why they have bar in their name. They only have beer, cider and wine. That's fine. Was just misled by their name, expecting more. I had oven roasted salmon with what was supposed to be a teriyaki glaze on top but it was more like a syrup. The mushroom risotto was good. The pizzas that we ordered were good. The price for the child's slider was crazy for the tiny thing that we received. My personal opinion otherwise are the chairs. They are cold and uncomfortable. read more

Great experience. The food and service were excellent. We arrived around 6:30 pm on a Thursday and the place was bustling, which is always a good sign. We started with the charcuterie board. The crostini were so yummy, and there was a generous assortment of meats, cheeses, nuts, fruit, spreads, crackers, etc. Three of us ordered the flat iron steak with Marsala sauce, grilled asparagus and mushroom risotto. All delicious. The risotto was so flavorful that we were still talking about it the next day. One of our party ordered a pizza, and was very happy with it, but I can't remember the details. This was a bit of a splurge for us, but we were celebrating a graduation and are so glad we took a chance on the Diver. It was a memorable meal. read more

Waiters were nice, but the kitchen needs to organize better. We got there around 6:30pm, got seated right away... but phew, our appetizer took like 30 min to appear, then another 40 min or so for the entrees! We were exhausted by the time we finished dinner. We had 2 little kids, and glad we were able to grab one and only crayons for them to entertain during the looong wait!! Food was so so in my opinion. Not worth the wait. The food at the Diver Bar and Grill was excellent! I had a Caprese pickle sandwich with a berry spinach side salad. Both were excellent! The raspberry vinaigrette on the salad was great and the berries were fresh and ripe. The sandwich had a very nice pesto and balsamic dressing. I was skeptical of the pickles, but they worked well on the sandwich. My husband had the pastrami sandwich, which was also delicious. The portions are large and the service was great. It's not a fancy place, which suited us well after a day of hiking in the redwoods. The tables were comfortable and not crowded together. I will go back next time I am in Eureka! read more

A work trip brought me to Eureka, so I had an opportunity to try out some of the offerings here. This was our choice for dinner before heading back. Really amazing pizzas arrived at our table, straight from the cool-looking brick oven! I really enjoyed the garlic and clam pizza - super garlicky and tasty! My coworker really enjoyed his cup pepperoni pizza, too. The server was helpful and quick to get our orders in, but wasn't pushy or intrusive. The decor is really amazing. Lotsa antique diver-related photos, plus huge canvases and other art by local artists. And the ceiling is pressed tin, with cool light fixtures. All around, awesome spot! Farm to table rustic vibes! While visiting Eureka I stopped to have lunch here & it didn't disappoint. I'm not a fan of sweet potato fries but these were crispy & fluffy on the inside. They had good wine selections but no pinot grigio. I asked the server for recommendations for something similar on the dry side & you could tell he wasn't sure which is totally ok. My usual 1 night stay Eureka restaurants let me down, so I found this place on Yelp, I had never been. This place was amazing!! They have a small bar in the back, ordered a Pilsner, and the 2 bacon pizza, it was the best meal I have had in forever! I travel every week, and have my favorites, this establishment blows them all away, with the service staff, and great atmosphere. A reason to come back to Eureka soon, well done. The whole experience was great from the friendly waitress that knew all the beers to share to the appetizers that were amazing to the burgers that we shared so we could taste a little of each. I'd say the Popeye was probably my favorite. Next step would be the black and blue followed by the one with the pineapple on it that was really good as well. Great experience, fun crowd. After initially passing The Diver by due to reviews which spoke of the excessive wait time, we are SO glad we gave it a try! Not only was the wait reasonable for a busy Friday night (10 minutes to get seated and 30 minutes to get food once order was placed) but the service was AMAZINGLY friendly and efficient! Every dish was delicious but the star was the wood fired oven pizza! The Salty Sweet pizza was a slice of culinary heaven with 3 different types of cheeses (blue cheese sauce, mozzarella and Gorgonzola crumbles) and the salty and sweet dance of the bacon jam and medjool dates. They said they could put a table together for 5 people but couldn't seat us for 15 minutes due to their head chef being out and the kitchen being backed up. There were several open tables. We were 100% fine waiting. I asked if we could just sit and wait to order, the hostess said no. I said we really would love to just sit and really don't need to order. She said no. About 5 minutes later my 10 year old who was very tired sat in one of the chairs at the table we would be sitting at. She asked him to get up. I said again we really would just like to sit because we were very tired and don't need to order. She said it's only going to be a few more minutes. Amazing food and service. Met here for lunch with some business associates. Everyone had the smoked salmon Club. The fish was fantastic. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. They were actually crispy but not overcooked. The service was great. My Diet Coke glass was never empty. And the server could not have been more tolerant of our delayed lunch start - - one of our party had a delayed flight. I love the neighborhood. Old Town and eclectic. When my fiancé and I were visiting Eureka, California, The Diver was probably our favorite place we ate! It had the grandeur of being a fancy restaurant, but paired with some funky art (that we loved) and a casual atmosphere. (TL;DR- it felt nice but we didn't feel out of place in our shorts and tee shirts) Derek got a spicy burger of some sort and I got pasta with so much goodness in it??? It was a special that day, and it came with shrimp, scallops, and chicken, as well as SO many fresh tasting vegetables! (Although I did pick the carrots out like a four year old because cooked carrots are yucky ) The noodles were thick, which gave them a handmade vibe, and the sauce was perfectly light and complementary to the toppings without stealing their thunder. I love this place. They are so friendly and they have a wood fired oven. I have not YET tried their pizza, but I can report that there is no better Hamburger. Seriously, they grind the meat right there in their kitchen, it is short rib, I think NY steak and some other premium beef. We had the Popeye burger. AMAZING ! ( I only order classic burger, normally ) but I took a chance. It has a lot of caramelized onions, spinach and goat cheese, but it is the way they do it. Generous meat, I have never tasted such a delicious hamburger patty. We had to savor every bite. The fries were excellent, the wine was great, and the service. We were a party of six. Once again I didn't get our waiters name. He was very thorough and explained the specials to us before we ordered. I ordered the special which was halibut.. it was moist and flaky, very tasty and accompanied with nice mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus. Also we selected the pasta with mussels, another order was the chicken sandwich, a nice Caesar salad and two delicious burgers. A person in our party was having a birthday in a few days so we ordered desserts. They were also delicious. A friend and I came in on a Wednesday at 1220. We got seated, ordered water and our food. The food was really good. I ordered the classic burger and a side salad. My friend ordered the Cobb salad. Presentation was good, the server was great, but he was alone and working so hard. The bathrooms were clean. The only downside was the slow service. There was one server hosting, bussing, serving, and running food. The server was running about 9 tables by himself. I would like to come back at a later time hoping they are more staffed. Overall we got seated, had our food, and bill in about 1 hour. If you're looking for fast service for lunch, I wouldn't recommend it. I do recommend the burgers. read more

If you're not in any hurry and want some incredible food, The Diver is an awesome restaurant! The decor is fun with an ornate golden ceiling, big steampunk lighting fixtures and modern art on every wall. It's a trendy-looking spot to go on a date. As of a Tuesday night in early 2023, the place was packed and they seemed understaffed, but the people working here are clearly really trying hard & doing the very best they can. Our server was able to make spot-on drink recommendations and was really nice. It took about 30 minutes to get our wine & beer and 45+min for food, but when it arrived the food was fantastic. The Calico Cowboy burger and Capresse pickle sandwich were incredibly good, and the the fries and side salad were super delicious. The Diver is a great little restaurant tucked away in Henderson Center. Their food is consistently delicious (personal favorites are their sandwiches) however the wood fired pizza is wonderful also. Staff is friendly and attentive and overall it's a great atmosphere. I recommend calling to make a reservation, as it's a little small inside but I've never had an issue calling the day before or a few hours ahead. :) read more
