Chicken parmigiana
Paul C.

It took a long time to get our food. Luckily the cocktails were good. I ordered chicken parmigiana it was very dry, and burnt. I realized it was burnt after I got home or I would have sent it back. I'm not eating here again. I like the ambience, but the food is terrible.

We came in on a Friday night, the place was packed and had mellow live music during dinner service. We just stopped in for a bite, and everything was fantastic. We started with the wedge salad and the antipasto plate, and we shared the mushroom risotto which was cooked perfectly. This was our first time dining here, and we'll definitely be back. The atmosphere was lively, the service outstanding, and the food absolutely fabulous. Highly recommend!

To start, I'm not here to be rude or complain. I'm simply here to give feedback to the restaurant in hopes they take it into consideration to provide customers with a better experience. After a couple of hours after eating the chicken dish it made me feel sick. Not a great way to spend my birthday. The menu: for an "Italian" restaurant, the pasta options are lacking. You need more than 4 pasta dishes. All of which are extremely basic. There is nothing eye catching about the menu. I can get half of the items at most restaurants in Humboldt. It would be nice to have bruschetta and gnocchi. Both extremely easy to make. They have 9 pizza options and only 4 pasta options. At a restaurant that's trying to be nice and more upscale, this needs to change. You need more pasta dishes period, they're so simple. The food: The person I was dining with had the "Fresh Linguine Pomodoro" and added shrimp. The sauce was bland, you could only taste plain tomato. Lots of salt and pepper was needed to have any flavor. The shrimp was overcooked and chewy. It was $9 to add 6 pieces of shrimp, if that, and we weren't informed of the charge at the time of ordering. $33 for bland pasta and 6 pieces of shrimp. I had the "Chicken Piccata" which tasted good. However again, made me sick. The side of mashed potatoes were very sweet which I thought was strange. The pieces of chicken were tough on the edges, which made it hard to cut but the middle was cooked very nicely. The sauce was delicious. The side of fresh vegetables was just broccolini so that wasn't as fun as a mix of vegetables but it was still good. The espresso and hot tea were good! The service: Our server was great to start but we were kind of neglected towards the end. Weird since it was almost empty. It took a while to get the check and we had to ask a different server for it. The ambiance: the restaurant atmosphere was nice and they weren't very busy but it was a Monday night. They had live music which was a singer and I didn't think it really went with the feel of the restaurant. Maybe some calmer music would have been better. Again, just some things I hope the restaurant takes into consideration. We don't have many Italian restaurants so I really want to see them improve and thrive.

Chicken Parmesan sooo yummy!

September 11, 2025 - Fortuna, CA…read more Walking distance from our RV park, we decided to give this restaurant a try. We came in early on a Thursday and were greeted with attentive, cheerful service. Seated in a comfortable booth, we were quickly brought menus and warm garlic bread. The restaurant itself has a welcoming, relaxed vibe. The drink special was a blueberry martini, and it turned out to be both beautiful and delicious. For dinner, we decided to split the lasagna and added an extra dinner salad, along with a bottle of Robert Mondavi Cabernet to share. Both the salad and lasagna were enjoyable, and the wine paired nicely with the meal. By the time we were finishing up, the restaurant was starting to fill, so we were glad we opted for an early dinner.

Bella Italia, Fortuna, California - September 11, 2025…read more We came in on a Thursday evening right around 4:30 PM. They open at 4 PM and I think we might've been the first ones there. We were seated immediately by a very friendly server and given menus and some nice warm garlic bread. They had a blueberry martini special , which sounded pretty tasty, so my wife and I each got one. It's a very comfortable atmosphere with nice music playing in the background. They have a full bar as well as some limited bar seating. We decided to split the lasagna, which comes with a dinner salad. They have a five dollar split charge, which we are always happy to pay to have our meals come out on two separate plates. We also ordered a separate dinner salad. We also ordered a bottle of the Robert Mondavi black label Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon to go with the meal. Everything, including the martinis, dinner, salads, and lasagna we're very tasty. The Robert Mondavi wine was a good pairing for the lasagna.

Tried this place out, as I was intrigued while in Humboldt. As someone who has eaten way too much…read moreNY pizza when in the city, I wanted to give it a try. Got a slice, but it was expensive. Slice was alright. Wasn't anything crazy, for the all meat. We also ordered a pie to eat, choosing a classic pep so we could try compare it to a NY style one. I was pleasantly impressed. It had thin and supple dough, robust enough for folding slices in half. Crust was thin style and had the crisp. It was really greasy, and the flavor was reminiscent more of NY than I expected. Was it a perfect NY slice? No, but it brought me further east than California. Best to eat it warm and heat it up. The cold version of the slice wasnt reminiscent of cold NY pizza I've had in the city. When hot, an interesting effort at doing NY style. It was just lacking an extra oomph that would make it 5. For those with extra pizza, I'd strongly recommend heating it up rather than eating it cold. I say that, even though I'm a big supporter of cold pizza. This pie needs to be warm.

Oh have the mighty have fallen....ordered a calzone, promised sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onion,…read moreetc. what I got was dough and cheese. Look at the pic, there is no lying here. $$20+ for this, don't go here or order here, thieves and liars, rip off to the first degree. Ok, just called to complain and was told - calzone is just cheese and bread unless specified otherwise, yet the ad states "A baked calzone with a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables, typically including ingredients like pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions and peppers". You pay extra for other ingredients despite what the add says. Typical of Humboldt economics.
