My wife and I went to bayfront for their Teppanykai. The food was delightful. I recommend getting the dinner for two its cheaper that way, but you'll still be paying $100 which is well worth it. The food was delightful especially the filet migon, that melted in your mouth. Gorgeous views of the bay, a great place to celebrate a birthday, or anniversary. We had Kala as our server, first time there recommended from someone at our hotel and absolutely 10/10. We got in and were sat immediately, got our orders in within 10 or 15 minutes on what seemed to be a busy night . We were in sort of a rush with only a hour to eat and without saying it our server understood immediately and got us started. We were checked in on perfectly timed and our server had gotten 4 tables at once so the time management skills were very much alive. Our food was quick and ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, we got the lobster roll, Dungeness crab roll, miso soup, jalapeno poppers, and clam chowder. Both rolls absolutely amazing but lobster roll was the favorite of the 2. Miso soup is my favorite already but theirs was amazing!! And the poppers are an absolute must have, not the regular jalapeño and cream cheese I was expecting but shrimp and sauces and other stuff I was too busy enjoying to read the description of it. Overall 10/10 experience, I work in food service and the flow of the staff was something I adore, service- fast, understanding, excellent, food- nothing to say but AMAZING, do wish we knew to sit in the hibachi section though, definitely next time. Oh boy, where to start? We've been going to bayfront restaurant for a very long time. Today we went and grabbed a sushi meal that was basically inedible. The rolls and the Nigiri were made with rice that was old and stale tasting like it been sitting out for quite some time. We were shorted one Nigiri, which we probably wouldn't have eaten anyways because all of the other Nigiri we got the fish was rubbery and not fresh at all Why didn't we send it back, You ask? Because today we decided to pick up the order to go and by the time we got home, we realized that not only had we've been shorted our food, but it was also not good. This will be the last time we go to the bayfront for any type of meal and definitely not sushi. I do not recommend. Edit: the person who took my order was very pleasant, however, when I called back to speak to the manager and was told they were "too busy to take manager calls". We arrived in Eureka after a long drive with growling stomachs! We searched for the best looking restaurant with a great view and settled on the Bayfront restaurant. While the view outside was enjoyable, the inside of the restaurant looked a little dated. So did the waitress uniforms. After we perused the menu, we settled on an edamame app, some sushi rolls, a romaine salad with chicken, and a burger and fries for my daughter. The menu was quite extensive and had a lot of interesting and delicious looking options, especially since they combined sushi/seafood and Italian dishes. It took a while to get the appetizer and I was delivered the wrong salad. During that time, one of the other tables came in and left, I'm assuming because no one came to serve them. The sushi was decent and salad all right, but nothing to write home about. I don't know how they do their fries, but they are some of the best and most interesting I've had. Amazing texture, but way over salted! When we received the bill, one of the items was priced higher than it should have been and some of the items we ordered weren't even on there. Disclaimer I came here about five years ago. This restaurant offers a panoramic view of the bay. Along with a boardwalk to walk at after feeling a bit stuffed for the evening. I prefer to order from their specials menu, the last two times I ordered I had sushi, which usually never disappoints. I have yet to try their Japanese teppanyaki tables, plus sake & other drinks. I recently learned that Bayfront restaurant not only offers a restaurant but also has a vacation & executive rentals for those water lovers. I've been eating at the Bayfront since it was the Ritz, at F and Third. The sushi is the thing. However, the place is going downhill, I'm sad to say. About a year ago they replaced their ceramic puddling dishes (for mixing soy sauce and wasabi) with plastic ones, which too easily scoot around the table. Now the miso soup comes in plastic dishes. I asked for some more wasabi, and it arrived in a plastic (Melmac actually) dish. The sushi serving platters are wooden with the sealant worn off all around the edges, exposing the wood. The tea cup was ceramic, but chipped and cracked. Can unfinished wood and cracked crockery be effectively sterilized? I have to wonder. The sushi is still good. Try the Black Kitty roll. Service is usually attentive, and the view of the ship moorings is outstanding. I hope they can get their act back together. read more

Kids eat free on Tuesdays. Go somewhere with a family of four and show me a bill under 100 bucks anywhere else. I've only eaten sushi and that is equivalent to any of the pricier sushi places around here, so all in all I give it a major win. She took our drink and apps order very quickly. There was a door open near by and she offered to close it because she noticed we were cold. We didn't even have to ask. I was so grateful. Such great service. Our apps and sushi were both great. The only reason why I knocked one star is because the food took a really long time to come out. Really disappointed in our experience this evening which didn't even go beyond the hostess stand. We had a reservation for our mother's 75th birthday party this evening at 7 pm. At 7:15 I checked on the table and was told they were running behind. I asked to speak to a manager, who informed us our table would be another 45 minutes that they're overbooked and running behind tonight. If you've overbooked for the evening it would only be common courtesy to contact your large reservations for the evening and let them know their tables wouldn't be available for an hour past their original reservation time. With toddlers and children in our party, we told her we needed to talk with eachother to make a decision on whether or not we wanted to stay. She came back over to check to see if we had an answer in the middle of us deciding and it felt very rude and rushed. I have been in restaurant management for 15 years and felt the entire experience was unprofessional. I would have offered our party something to drink or done anything I could to at least keep us happy but they didn't seem to care they were running an hour behind. We ended up calling fiesta cafe and left, took our party elsewhere. I couldn't imagine supporting a business who wouldn't at least communicate to a 75th birthday party of 12 they were so behind in the evening. Shame on them. read more

Really frustrating, I live right around the corner and Bayfront happens to be one of the only two sushi restaurants I will go to in Humboldt. Times have been tough lately so I haven't had the funds to go as often as I'd like, so I'm really excited to get some sushi tonight.... I called at 9:10 to place an order for takeout....They don't close at 9:30.... They close at 9. If you stop taking orders at 9pm then that is what time your restaurant closes. The food was good. The chef was fun and our server was great. They charge too much for hot Tomodachi. The large is $12.00 and at other Japanese restaurants you get 2x the amount for the same price. Food was very good including their vegetarian/vegan options. My tempura was crispy, light and not overly greasy, and the udon was especially slurpable. If you're looking for a chill and family friendly vibe I'd recommend Bayfront's Teppanyaki experience for the following reasons: 1) generous portions of grub - we ordered shrimp, scallops, chicken, and filet mignon (the best dish was by far the scallops) and had plenty leftover for another meal the next day; 2) Servers were attentive and kind, which as a Mom of three I greatly appreciated; 3) Food was out and prepared quickly, again as a Mom that's a win every day. Only reason I didn't put five stars is the shrimp ended up a little overcooked, but otherwise we really enjoyed the meal and the experience. Mini warning if you have younger kids - the fire does get pretty hot, large, and can startle small children if they're new to teppanyaki, but the water squirters off and on were good for a quick laugh and calm down for all. We were on our way to a high school baseball playoff game in Crescent City and stopped in Eureka for a meal. We decided on a Sushi spot and couldn't have been luckier. The place is warm as well as inviting and the hostess friendly. Our waitress Lainey was a dream, she was well versed on the menu, personable and answered all of our questions. We came here for a late birthday lunch and were seated quickly, so points for that. The problem arose after we had ordered was we anticipated to be a delicious gorgonzola salad with romaine lettuce, and hints of pear and walnuts. We received our clam chowder first and expected the salad to be out very shortly after, as usually at restaurants the food comes out altogether.... or so we thought. After about 15 minutes with no salad and a bowl of clam chowder licked clean we asked about where the gorgonzola salad could be hiding. It came out shortly after we complained. A romaine salad is usually primarily lettuce, correct? Apparently not at the bay front restaurant. This salad was comically full of pear to the point everyone at the table was laughing. We brought this problem to our waitresses attention and she started cracking jokes like she was doing stand up at a comedy club. We received zero compensation for the salad being absolutely not being what we expected and mostly pear with a couple pieces of lettuce. When we asked to speak to the manager, to our surprise it was our waitress/comedian. Her tone felt very condescending but she did give us a free dessert. We were also charged extra for bread that came with the clam chowder and she admitted to that mistake but yet again nothing was done.
