Our group stopped by for lunch. The staff was friendly and accommodating to our large walk- in group. Ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with chasu. My bowl came out in a decent time... looked great. Broth was on the bland side, noodles had chew, and chasu was tasty. Needed more flavor overall. Edamame and cucumber salad apps were ok. Service was good.

This is some of the best ramen I've had, comparable to what I had in Japan itself! Great food and wonderful service! This place fills up quickly each night, and for good reason so come early or expect a little wait to be seated!

I did not expect to find a solid ramen place in Arcata, but nonetheless it happened! Came on a Sunday night for 2 and had to wait around 15-20 minutes which was okay as we just went down the street to buy some things from the grocery store while we waited. I will say that I think that they could use their space a bit better and put in a couple more tables. I ordered the mild spicy Tan Tan ramen, which was quite good. I liked the bamboo shoots, and the broth was rich and delicious. The pork didn't have much flavor but it counteracted well, as the rest of the dish was pretty heavy. The noodles were also very good as it grabbed hold of a lot of the soup. Honestly, I was very surprised and happy with this meal. This is a solid addition to Arcata!

Extra Spicy Shoyu

Nice dark, modern atmosphere. Clean, and easy to order from the kiosk. Bowl of extra spicy shoyu ramen with an egg and all the fixins; seasoned to such a degree that it required no additional condiments? Hell yeah! $30 (20 + 5 + 5) for that, a canned soda, and a decent tip? Oof, maybe not so much. Damn good ramen, but too cost prohibitive to make it a regular stop. My old friends Ms. Maruchan and Mr. Tapatio are gonna be the ones underwhelmingly scratching that itch for most of the foreseeable future.

Dinner at 6:30 Tuesday with no wait, so nice. Greeted nicely and great service. The Kangi fried chicken appetizer and it's slightly spicy sauce - yes, highly recommend. Miso ramen with spice level 2 plus a draft Sapporo hit the spot.

Cannoli dessert.

I've been here both at dinner time and at lunchtime. Honestly overpriced... Pros: The yuzu cheesecake is AMAZING. Miso broth is gingery and I like that. Cons: Cold as hell inside. Annoying to use the kiosk at lunchtime because it takes forever. They charge you extra, up to $1.25, for spice levels, and it's not even that spicy. The cannoli were cold and chewy. Recommendations: The ube cheesecake is really dense. The yuzu one is way better. Don't order the cannoli dessert. The spicy charge is not really worth it. The miso broth is good.

I found myself one of the best ramen spots in the lost coast . I love all the ramen we had that day. Nice thick broth and perfectly cooked noodles. One thing I think they can improve on would be the chicken Karaage. I personally think it's a little saltier than my liking. So worth the visit though.

Best ramen in the town! Like how you are able to customize your ramen. They were very accommodating to our large party.

So beware and check the weather before going and dress accordingly. It's nice on sunny days but then you have to be mindful of the UV. I appreciate our waitress getting our drinks and food out to us through the chaos of people being seated outside, then being reseated inside when room opened up, or like one table, just leaving! Their plum sake is very good, smooth and light. I also got a hot tea but that was only hot for a moment out there, the sake definitely did more to keep us warm. Their ramen bowls are now my favorite in downtown, the pork is DELICIOUS, the broth could be a drink on its own and the marinated egg has a perfectly soft yolk; it's a very pretty dish. My favorite sushi is split between the Russian roulette and the ocean queen (I think that's its name).

Craftsmanship and attention to detail are central to Sushi and Japanese cuisine, none of which I could find in what I was served. We ordered: salmon lover roll, vegetable tempura, and chicken katsu. - salmon lover roll was not notable, bland, almost too sweet. It came with the smallest blob of wasabi and two slices of ginger (one which was very long for some reason). - vegetable tempura was serviceable, if you mess this up you get 0 stars. - chicken katsu is the star of this abysmal show though. I was served two cut up chicken katsu slices. The presentation was horrible. Loosely strewn about the plate over some cut up veg and a fork on the side of the plate. For an $18 chicken katsu entree, no rice is criminal. This entree comes with miso soup which was served in a small bowl half full. Service was slow, took them 40 min to get the food out and the tempura came after the roll. On a positive note they took our card quick, the atmosphere was cool and the bathrooms clean.
