Had dinner here while spending the week in Arcata area for my 50th bday! My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner including fresh spring rolls, drunken noodles w tofu, yellow curry with tofu, mango sticky rice, plum wine, and sake. Okay, now that I wrote it out I realize we really ate A LOT. It was so good, though!! We asked for everything to be veganized and they knew exactly how to do it, no egg no fish sauce, etc. Service was good, and the restaurant is cute and decorated very ornately while still feeling cozy. I highly recommend Bencharong Thai House!

Dinner at 4:30 PM. Super great service. Food came out quickly and very well prepared. We will definitely be back. See photos for food descriptions.

Never again will we be eating at this restaurant. I feel embarrassed for them. It's crazy that they could actually sell this to the public for the price they charge. I don't need a call, a return of my funds, we will not be returning... Ever! This has happened before and we wanted to give them one more chance And we were wrong. These are pictures of what 57$ looks like. Super lame.... And stop using the leaching plastic containers already. Zero thought about your customers experience....

Which one is yellow or green curry?

Little disappointed today with my carry out. Ordered two curries; one yellow and one green. Both appear to be green to me. And why are they different size containers? See my picture and judge yourself. This carry out order was not opened until I got home; 40 minutes from the restaurant. If I lived closer, I would have gone back. In lieu, I offer this advise to others..... check your carryout orders

It's always a good sign when a place is already crowded around 5 PM for dinner. Bencharong is one such place. My wife and I had first discovered it coming back from the redwoods when we were looking for a place with vegetarian options, we could have confidence in. Thai restaurants are one such option. The Meing Komm is the appetizer that drew us in. Never seen it elsewhere. On a small platter car little piles of Thai chili, roasted, shredded, coconut, peanuts, chopped red onion, and a couple more along with sauce, and a collection of small leaves. You take one of the leaves and spoon a little of each ingredient onto it and then pop it in your mouth. Delicious! And I'm not really a fan of coconut. For my entrée, I went with the grilled pacific cod. That arrived firm and just shy of too dry. It comes with steamed vegetables and its own sauce and garlic rice. I enjoyed the flavors of this dish as well. I had a glass of one of their Cabernets. My first sip I thought it was a little sunburned, but after waiting a few minutes, it opened up and was more than drinkable. If I was not driving to San Francisco, I would've had a second class. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. My only complaint is that they should be attentive about clearing dishes. My table was a little inaccessible as tables are placed, fairly close together, since the space is small. So I don't fault my server for not clearing , although he could've asked me to pass my appetizer plate to him. At the table next to me, the whole server brought the entrées without first clearing the appetizer plates. Nor did she ask for diners to pass the appetizer plate to her when they lifted it up so she could put down the entrée plate. Instead, she let them put their appetizer plates to the side, and then inquired if they would like her to take those plates (which were empty). That's a given! I'm sure the desserts are good, but I wanted an espresso for the road, so I went to the Finnish sauna/café, and had a cappuccino and chocolate covered baklava there. Bottom line, I'll be coming here each time I come to visit the redwoods

    Fresh rolls

We ordered custom vegan drunken noodles and asked for extra veg. The spice level was perfect. The noodles were tender, and the sauce was delicious! The fresh rolls list that they come with herbs, but we barely got one tiny leaf of cilantro and mint in our rolls. The accompanying peanut sauce was watery. The service was excellent, quick and pleasant. Nice looking restaurant but small and noisy when full. We give it an A minus rating due to the spring rolls lacking herbs.

We are visiting Arcata and the kids wanted Thai food. I didn't like the idea but we saw this place. When we got there it was busy. We waited twenty minutes for a table. They're welcoming and the service was great. The ambience of the restaurant was awesome. Now for the food. The egg roll was delicious. But the Pad Thai didn't taste authentic Thai. Food was overpriced. I wasn't expecting to pay for the amount of food we ordered. The portions was for a kid not an adult. Authentic Thai is questionable. Padd Ghat Seht was just an over priced chop suey over rice for $18.

This place is tucked in a shopping center. The pet store right next door through me off, to be honest. But we parked (free and easy) and walked in - pleasantly surprised by the nice ambiance and decor. It is small - maybe only 10 tables. There was only one waitress and I felt so bad for her. She seemed so stress as the restaurant quickly filled up and she was overwhelmed. This of course led to multiple tables, including ours, to have to have king waits for ordering, drinks, getting food, etc. I saw one table sit without any menus for more than 10+ minutes. By the time we left on a Thursday night at 6:45, there were at least 4 groups of people waiting with estimated wait time of 30 minutes. They would be able to get people in sooner if they had more than one server. They really need to do better with staffing. As for the food, we got coconut prawns (a special), chicken satay, chicken pad tai, cheo kung (my spelling is off), and a Thai iced tea. The food was all just very bland. Everything lacked flavor - I mean everything, including even the tea. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't worth the $90 ($6 for a side of peanut sauce is ridiculous). We won't be back.

under popular Thai style menu. Gaeng Ga Ree w/mixed vegetables w/rice. So good! I added cilantro at the house

Thoroughly enjoyed this family restaurant with lovely traditional decor. The Padd see-ew was the best we've ever had.

A Tale of Two WOKINs: A Journey from SoCal to NorCal in Search of the Perfect Bite…read more Every family has a story, a collection of moments stitched together with love, laughter, and--if you're lucky--really, really good Chinese food. Ours begins in Redlands, California, where a humble, hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant called WOK IN became more than just a place to grab takeout. It became a second home. A young couple owned it, pouring their heart and soul into every dish, and over the years, we grew close, bonding over sizzling woks and steaming bowls of comfort. But life, as it often does, led us north. A new chapter. A fresh start. And while we embraced the adventure, there was one thing missing--a place that felt like our place, a little corner of the world where good food and good people came together. For nearly a year, we searched. And then, like a beacon in the fog of hunger, we found it: WOK IN WOK OUT in Eureka, California. I told my wife about it, cautiously optimistic, but she met my excitement with skepticism. "Let's see if it's the same," she said, as only a woman who has been burned by disappointing takeout before can say. So we did. The order was simple: Kung Pao Chicken, soup, and Pad Thai. The stakes? Immensely high. One bite in, and suddenly, it wasn't just dinner--it was a rediscovery. The flavors were bold, the textures perfect, the spice hitting just right. And then, the true test: my wife, pregnant and all, gave me the nod. It didn't make her sick. That, my friends, is the highest praise a restaurant can receive in our household. While nothing will replace our forever WOK IN family in SoCal, WOK IN WOK OUT has given us a new home for comfort food up here in NorCal. It's not just about the food--it's about the feeling, the nostalgia, the quiet joy of finding a place where you belong. So, to the good people at WOK IN WOK OUT: thank you. You've given us more than just a meal--you've given us a piece of home. -Jacob Williams

I pulled up, and the lady comes out to talk to me, she asked me if I had been there before and I said I didn't. She said take a look at the menu, and I will come back to you. It turns out she was going back-and-forth between being the cashier, and taking orders. If they had a box, it wasn't working. I decided to go with the pulled pork sandwich on a baguette, I chose all of the veggies, with no cheese or avocado, which was extra price. I requested the barbecue sauce, which was the non-spicy version. The sandwich was excellent. The baguette was a very high-quality roll, the pulled pork was savory, and all of the veggies were nice and crisp. The barbecue sauce tasted like it was a vinegar based, and it had a great "Tang" to it. It provided a nice pop of acid to offset the richness of the pulled pork. I could only finish half of my sandwich, and I had the other half for dinner. The sandwich came out to $14 and change after tax, , which was reasonable for such a good sandwich. The reason I'm taking off a star, is because of the wait time. The wait time from when I pulled up till when I pulled out with my sandwich was roughly 15 minutes. That's quite a wait for a sandwich. You can order ahead online, but you still have to wait in the line to pick up your food. They do delivery, but they only do one delivery run a day at 11 AM, and so you have to get your order in on time. They shouldn't have the person running back-and-forth between being cashier, and taking orders as well. Maybe have another person taking orders. Hopefully the next time I come back, the wait won't be so long. I wish these guys would get a "brick-and-mortar." They would do very well. Thank you!
