A cube of pork after breading removed!
    Fionnuisce S.

This was only our 3rd time in past 10 years dining at this restaurant. I seem to recall different owners on my first visit, and second visit was before 2020. Abysmal quality and pitiful service. They were extremely busy attempting to fulfill online and take away orders. We called ahead and were told we wouldn't need a reservation, but when we arrived we almost couldn't fit through the door. After 25 minutes the snappy guy taking and calculating charges took a minute away to seat us. It was as if it was a bother for him. We got menues and waters then sat for about 10 minutes waiting for anyone to take our order. The wait person was interrupted constantly. I tried to order by the numbers of each item (since we waited so long I wrote the items and numbers down) but the waiter said they used different numbers than the menu, so to just tell him what we wanted. Our bill indicated each item with the same alpha numeric menu code that I attempted to give him. Ordered: Fried Prawns. We got 4@$9.95. They were flat like fan tail style shrimp sometimes served at cheap fish n chips places. They were hot and crispy but no way is that "Chinese restaurant style." They were accompanied by 2 dipping sauces: sweet and sour and some kind of soy based mixture. No mustard was served, even in a packet, though I suppose we could have asked for it. Pork Potstickers 6@$9.95. We suspect the waiter (harried beyond belief) heard the order for "wontons," but not "pork wontons." They were chicken. The bill confirmed. The worst Lemon Chicken in the world@$16.95. Big bready chunks of tasteless deep fried batter containing pieces or shreds of chicken the size of what you might pull off a small chicken wing, and then -- pull that apart. The yellow tart lemony sweet sauce smothered the lumps of dough, and there was no shredded cabbage or lettuce bed underneath. Sweet and Sour Pork@$14.95 also inexcusable, consisted of centimeter size cubes of pork (and a few actual diced chunks of chicken managed to find their way in as well) as with the Lemon Chicken, the pork bits were battered and fried to three times their size, then smothered in a weird tasting orange colored sauce. Inside the sauce were raw white onion chunks and a few canned pineapple chunks. No peppers or carrots, generally found in most standard s+s dishes. There was no bed of greens under this dish, either. It got to this point that we were picking these two dishes apart, like picking crab, looking for the protein within, and casting off the sticky coating. We had not received the third dish, and a female server came along with our bill and asked if we had gotten all of our dishes. I barely got out a, "No," when she said she would get us the vegetable Chow Mein... Vegetable Chow Mein@$10.50 was perhaps the closest to a passable dish, however there were only tiny bits of broccoli, which we picked out and ate, a few shreds of cabbage or bok choy (tiny dark green bits) and a very few slices of celery, but NO onions or carrots, or mushrooms. NO other random veg. There were big fat noodles and under 2 dozen individual bean sprouts in the whole dish. It tasted okaaay. Rapidly came the bill: $68 with tax and two fortune cookies, containing proverbs. "Now is the time to be candid and aboveboard in all things." So here I am. We will NEVER go back to this sad excuse for a Chinese Restaurant. Hoping we don't get sick within the next four hours.

    Wor Won Ton soup. $14.25

4 stars. Maybe a little bit pricey but the food is good. 4.5 stars chicken fried rice. A lot of nice sized chicken. Plenty of eggs and veggies. Tasted good. 3.5 stars Wor won ton soup. Broth was really good. Just about every addition to this soup was good except the won tons? Won tons were small with very little filling that tasted ok. Everything else was really good.

    Veggie spring rolls!

Deeply concerned about the quality of this food. I could get better food at the frozen section at any grocery store.

I absolutely love this place! It's my favorite place to go to sit down and have a meal in the area…read more I love going there just to draw down abundance and get the flow going. It's got everything I need: the fortune cookies, the lucky money cat, all the California rolls I can eat. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Nothing like getting that home feeling when you walk in the door and they already know your drink order. I've been to a lot of Asian Buffets in my time as a California utility worker but these guys take the cake! The food is great, the restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. I've never had a dish I didn't like. Trust me.. this is the best deal in town if you're looking to feel like a fat cat.

We literally went somewhere where ChatGPT told us to go the moonstone grill and spent so much for mid food then we only spent $36 here and it was so fresh and delicious! The restaurant was very clean and very well decorated. The staff was nice and thanked you when you left. They were very prompt when picking up your finished plates and bowls.

Driving through Northern CA and did not expect such a filling and fun meal…read more This spot is definitely a Chinese, Korean, Japanese fusiony spot that I did not expect to find here. We ordered the Chinese Style Lamb Stew, Cheese Corn, Kung Pao Vegetables, and it came with a side of banchan. Every single dish here was absolutely delicious and piping hot! We ended up ordering a second plate of banchan because it was so good. The daikon radish had the most satisfying crunch and the others- cabbage and bean sprouts were very well pickled too! Cheese corn was sweet and honestly a good pairing with the very soury/ pickled soup. The kung pao vegetables would have definitely fooled me if I wasn't told it was mushroom. The batter holds on the oyster mushrooms just like chicken does. Well seasoned. Service was very impressive - there was a single waitress serving lots of tables. She had amazing recommendations and really seemed like she knew what she was doing. Very kind and attentive the entire time. Would love to return.

This is the best Asian style restaurant in Humboldt county. Great dishes well prepared. They were busy, only two servers but they did a very good job. We even ordered plates to take home, food was that good.

A Tale of Two WOKINs: A Journey from SoCal to NorCal in Search of the Perfect Bite…read more Every family has a story, a collection of moments stitched together with love, laughter, and--if you're lucky--really, really good Chinese food. Ours begins in Redlands, California, where a humble, hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant called WOK IN became more than just a place to grab takeout. It became a second home. A young couple owned it, pouring their heart and soul into every dish, and over the years, we grew close, bonding over sizzling woks and steaming bowls of comfort. But life, as it often does, led us north. A new chapter. A fresh start. And while we embraced the adventure, there was one thing missing--a place that felt like our place, a little corner of the world where good food and good people came together. For nearly a year, we searched. And then, like a beacon in the fog of hunger, we found it: WOK IN WOK OUT in Eureka, California. I told my wife about it, cautiously optimistic, but she met my excitement with skepticism. "Let's see if it's the same," she said, as only a woman who has been burned by disappointing takeout before can say. So we did. The order was simple: Kung Pao Chicken, soup, and Pad Thai. The stakes? Immensely high. One bite in, and suddenly, it wasn't just dinner--it was a rediscovery. The flavors were bold, the textures perfect, the spice hitting just right. And then, the true test: my wife, pregnant and all, gave me the nod. It didn't make her sick. That, my friends, is the highest praise a restaurant can receive in our household. While nothing will replace our forever WOK IN family in SoCal, WOK IN WOK OUT has given us a new home for comfort food up here in NorCal. It's not just about the food--it's about the feeling, the nostalgia, the quiet joy of finding a place where you belong. So, to the good people at WOK IN WOK OUT: thank you. You've given us more than just a meal--you've given us a piece of home. -Jacob Williams
