My soul-mate and I visited Chin's Cafe this evening. The last time we ate here was in November. We had our usual: General Tso's Chicken, Sesame Prawns and Pork Fried Rice. As has been true in the past, it was all delicious. My only criticism is that they could leave off the white rice (we never eat it, and we already have the Pork Fried kind), and they serve way too much broccoli, which we never eat, but I suspect it's more of a presentation thing. Paul, the waiter/host, is very friendly and makes you feel like you are visiting an old friend. It looks like they may have recovered the booths. It all looks good. I believe this is the best Chinese restaurant in Humboldt, and possibly the best kept secret. read more

Worst Chinese food I've ever had. Ordered beef chow mein with pan fried noodles. Got a plate of mostly shredded lettuce and carrots with some sort of bland, flavorless oily glaze. The small amount of noodles were burnt. The beef actually tasted ok, everything else was trash. Literally. That's where I put the rest of it that I couldn't eat. Went to in n out and got something edible instead. The dining room was dirty and run down. Rips in the upholstery in my booth. In need of a serious remodel.Service staff were nice though but that doesn't make up for the awful food. read more

Food was great. Always looking for Chinese food like we used to have in the 50's and 60's. Not an easy task and the cooks have changed their recipes to suit American palates. My family stopped by this spot during our road trip to Humboldt County. We were craving some good Chinese food as we always do every time we go on vacation so we decided to come here. We haven't always had good experiences trying Chinese food in areas outside of big cities so we were kind of skeptical, but this place was actually so good! So good that my Chinese mother approved! The server was really nice and my family had a good time chatting with him. For food, we ordered the honey walnut prawns, orange chicken, black pepper beef, pork fried rice, and beef chow fun. All of them were so tasty and each meat dish came with a portion of white rice. They were flavorful and tasted like home. Excellent, friendly service. Not a fancy place, but I was comfortable. Lunch and combinations offer great deals. Can't beat the prices. Loved the massive amounts of vegetable in the pork chow mein. I have been coming to Chins since they opened many years ago. Always a treat. Paul, is a great. I always liked the food. Clean and quiet.

Old style - everything looked the same, except the orange chicken. Tasted about the same between dishes.

Oh my goodness!! The hugest rave to Chins Chinese. This was our first time trying and it is definitely a new favorite of mine!! The owner was so friendly & humorous. I'm not sure if Chinn changed chicken vendors, but my sweet and sour chicken looked strange. A bit disappointed with my order.

We have many good Chinese spots in Sacramento. In town for about a week and tried this hole in the wall. We were skeptical because of the name but still gave it a tried. The place was clean and neat. Lots of seating area. Service and food were excellent!! I would recommend this place and would go there again. Lots of food options. Tried the following: Cashew chicken - this was ok but very few cashews in the dish. General chicken - this was good. Would order again. Sweet and tangy. My shu beef - best dish in my opinion. The best Chinese food in all of Humboldt and the close surrounding counties. When we go, we order a ton of food and happily live off of the leftovers for the next couple days. A few favorites are the mango ginger chicken, general Tao chicken (extra spicy please!! ), combination lomein, chicken wings, honey walnut prawns, orange peel beef, vegetable mo shu, and crabcheese puffs. Chin's is Humboldt Counties best kept secret. We always have a good meal there. Highlights are General Tso's Chicken, Sesame Prawns, Pork Fried rice, and for an appetizer, Crab Cheese Puffs. This is absolute garbage. They give you fried pieces of I don't know what kind of meat and call it chicken, looks like throw up, and then give you the sauce to put it on yourself. All the sauces were terrible. The fried rice is so bland and looks burnt. The pot stickers are so bland and have hardly any filling. Should have known by how empty it was and the weird smell inside that it was bad. Will never go here again. When a Chinese food restaurant messes up pot stickers and fried rice you know they're not good. Idk where these good reviews are coming from! read more

I found this restaurant by accident as I was traveling through with an overnight stop next door at the Comfort. It's was late , near closing time, covid restrictions in place meant a grab and go back to the room. I thought I'd try something different and I'm a fan of mangos...MANGO GINGER CHICKEN was my selection. The service was fast and ready by the time i walked next door. Fantastic food, impeccable service. The food is so fresh and delicious here. I've been here 3 times now and more amazed everytime. The szechuan entrees are spicy and delicious. The egg foo young is big enough for 2 people to share. Veggies are crisp and fresh. Meat is quality and cooked right. The outside of the building is a bit shabby, most of the boths have rips and are patched, and the parking lot is small and awkward --- but don't second guess the quality of the food and excellent service. Best Chinese I've found in Eureka in the 10 years I've lived here. Always very friendly service. The food is hot and flavorful.

I don't think they seasoned this at all. I got fried rice that was the color of soy sauce but had literally no flavor besides sesame oil. The egg drop soup was watery and flavorless as well. Barely had any veggies besides cabbage and almost no egg. Do NOT go here. I don't think I've ever had Chinese food this bad, even from Panda Express. Also, I am a vegetarian so I got veggie fried rice AND IT HAD MEAT CHUNKS. Not friendly for allergies/special diets. read more

Well, when you get food from a restaurant/motel combination, you should be prepared for the worst. Unfortunately the food was even more disappointing than we had expected. Nothing fresh, not a darn thing. Egg rolls were obviously frozen and served with sweet & sour concoction that was plain gross. The teriyaki chicken was basically little lumps of salt. The chow mein? Omg... served in 2 boxes. One box of slimy goop that was supposed to be barbecue pork, but looked more like ground chicken & too salty to eat. The noodles were cold, burned black & so hard we wondered if they were made a few weeks ago and forgotten about. Disgusting meal. Threw it all away ($40+) and got hamburgers. What a waste. read more
