My son is a big Raman fan so he picked out this place. I will say, while eating he definitely spent quite some time in the bathroom during and after. And they have one bathroom so people had to wait. Something in the food activated the glands to run to the bathroom. My daughter enjoyed her Raman. I personally felt the portions were small for my husband. I ended up sharing mine. The chicken was stiff. I would never order the chicken ramen here. I was not expecting the ramen to be as good as it was seeing as I was far from the SF Bay Area. I was wrong. It was great . He had shoyu ramen and I had the miso ramen. Excellent. Broth was too salty to drink but it tasted great. (I'm on low sodium and am not used to so much salt). The eggs were soooo good. Veggies all done perfectly. Out of all the food spots in Eureka this has to be the best one hands down! After sitting in the restaurant for a few minutes we forgot we were in Eureka and felt like home in the Bay Area. Fast and friendly service, well lit restaurant with just enough space for everyone. Now for the food we got the tonkotsu ramen and gyoza. The ramen flavor was good it was just missing a chili powder, they did give us some chili oil but I think best would be powder, and the chashu pork needed a lil more seasoning and was pretty dry in both our bowls so 6.5/10 for ramen. Gyoza were pretty good just missing that crispness to them when pan fried and a lil seasoning on the meat so 4.5/10. It was so good barely got to take one picture sorry! Just went to Kokoro Ramen on drive through Eureka after visiting Lady Bird Johnson Trail. This place is a locally owned, family run restaurant. They also own the Roof Top Sushi restaurant. My party of two had the tonkotsu ramen. It comes with 2 halves of soft boiled egg, nori seaweed, blackened pork belly, bamboo shoots, wood ear mushrooms, pickled ginger, and green onions. I asked for some side chili paste. The broth was flavorful, not as rich as other places I've eaten at like Marufuku, but just another style. Also had the chicken karaage which was good. Lastly, we had the cucumber salad, freshly made. The owner's son served us and was very nice and helpful, refilling my water without asking, a big issue with me. At this time, they are one of the highest rated restaurants in Eureka. If I'm ever in Eureka again, I'll be stopping by. read more

The red ginger they use has been pickled with aspartame adding an unnecessary sweetness to a bowl of ramen. TBH I've never seen pickled ginger in a ramen bowl ever. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is pleasant and causal. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen. It was very good. The only thing I would prefer is for the noodles to be a little more firm. They weren't mushy or anything, just a little bit more well done than I like. It was still delicious. My favorite part was that when I asked about spicy options, they brought me four containers. I chose "nuclear chili". Whew! A little goes a long way. I loved it. Vegetarian reviewer: Tried this Ramen place while on a vacation. It was a quick sit and dine for us, we liked the ambience, right in downtown beside a funky club. It was quiet and cozy - service was okay, we didn't have to wait too long for our food. The veggie broth was creamy - I guess it had a lot of cashew in it, it tasted okay, didn't taste too sweet. I had to ask and add a tonne of garlic chilli (tip: skip the oil, it isn't needed). They did not give us any chilli powder or ask for spice levels. Also, we added an extra egg in it. Thank you for being here. We're on our way in from the Bay Area and this is the best option for Asian food. Unfortunately we couldn't dine in having our dog on the trip with us but the service was great for our phone in order. We ordered the Takoyaki to share, tonkatsu ramen (I got mine without green onion since I noticed how large the pieces were), and then Ube cheesecake for dessert. The Takoyaki was very good - there were large pieces of octopus inside. The tonkatsu ramen was also quite good - I wish the broth had been a little more flavorful, and that the pork belly slices were a little less overcooked, but I appreciated the large serving of noodles we got and the egg was well cooked.
