Don't be deterred by the outside.... This place is awesome! First off... the service was better here than some very high class restaurants I've frequented. Our waitress was also the cashier, and the only one we saw... yet she just did her job with kindness, didn't act rushed or like she had so much going on.it was such a breath of fresh air! We actually didn't get pizza because we don't eat bread that often... however I will say that was the most fresh minestrone I think I've ever had. I don't blame the employees, HOWEVER the owner NEEDS to make some changes. Please use FRESH ingredients i.e. real Bell peppers that were raw not in a can would be amazing! It has a super cozy atmosphere like you're in your Italian grandmother's kitchen and the staff is very friendly. Even though they were pretty busy during the dinner rush, they sat us down immediately in a nice little nook. It looks a bit different than your everyday lasagna, as it comes in a bit of a pile (my opinion). It had other types of pasta around the edges under a heap of sauce and cheese. It tastes good. We sat on the outdoor patio for lunch as it seemed a bit stuffy inside on a warm day. The food is typical Italian American. Food portions are generous and reasonably priced. Their salami sandwich was good. The pasta was tasty and is served with or without meat marinara sauce. The complimentary bread was fresh and hot. This place is well known for their pizza which we unfortunately did not try. I would however stay away from their house wines. Staff was nice and friendly with service generally good, attentive and accommodating. I would definitely come back if I am in the area again and try their pizzas. read more

Great little place! They have such a delicious menu to choose items from. I got a beer to start (yum! Eel River IPA) and got a chicken parmesan. You can choose sides of pasta or lasagna. I got lasagna and they give you fresh baked bread. The chicken was SO generous and the lasagna was soooo good. The sauce was well-seasoned and rich with tomato. I loved the texture of the chicken parmesan. It had a good amount of cheese on top. I loved it. Staff were so nice! First of all, they made it fresh for us, which took about 10 minutes. Second they gave clear instructions on how to best prep it. Third, this pizza was amazing!!! The crust rose and was beautiful. This little pizza shack makes good handmade pies in a multitude of ways. Along with pasta, sandwiches and salads there is something on the menu for most tastes and though I've only tried their pizza if it is any indicator then everything should be pretty tasty as well. A buddy stopped by recently for a visit and brought a Ferndale Pizza with him in the take it and bake it mode (saves you a few bucks versus them baking it for you). This is a large pie, with a lot of weight to it and at about $20 bucks is enough to feed 3-6 people and its loaded with ingredients. Really good crust that bakes up nicely and browns properly on the baking tray on which it was prepared. Baked at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes. The pizza itself was good, lots of with fresh ingredients not my first choices but since my friend brought I rolled with it, it was a little bit on the thick side to my preference but definitely better than the national chain options in the same price point. I plan to revisit on my own and will re-evaluate again on my preferred toppings and crust of choice, or maybe a pasta dish. The cashier was nice and took care washing her hands before gathering some plates and utensils I requested which was much appreciated. We ordered a large Works pizza. I made reservations for a party of 11. The restaurant kindly put us in our own table at the back of the restaurant where we had privacy. Some in our party had gluten intolerances and one was a vegan. The restaurant had gluten-free pizza and also allowed the vegan to bring his own special "cheese". The pizzas were fantastic. The server was wonderful and very helpful.
