We needed a quick lunch after leaving Avenue of the Giants (redwood forest). It wasn't much to look at, but the food was excellent. My daughter had an Asada Quesadilla which was full of tasty asada and cheese. It had a tasty medium green salsa. My wife had the chicken taquitos which had all white meat chicken, the same green salsa, and a nice amount of cotijo cheese sprinkled on top. I had the chorizo torta, also excellent. We had a birria plate and a chili relleno plate for sit-in dinner. Took a long time to get the food and drinks, something like 20-30 minutes. Food was rather bland and uninspiring. Patron is gem and Rio Dell is lucky to have her. these guys can cook. Starting out as a Torta shop with Loaded fries, they have expanded over the years to be a complete taqueria plus a dedicated burger joint, and everything is delicious. The only place in this town to get fresh hot food that is actually delicious, and fairly fast. like I said these townsfolk are lucky to have this family here and dedicated to cranking out high quality quick eats on the daily. Found this restaurant after our auto tour through the Avenue of the Giants. Based on other's reviews, we decided to give this place a try. Funny that the rave reviews were for their burgers but this is a mexican cuisine restaurant. Given that, we ordered quesadillas, the Patron torta, chicken ranch sandwich, Buffalo chicken wings and chicken tenders and fries. Portions are large and tasted great. Loved the quesadilla and torta. Service was fast and efficient. Definitely a good spot to try. read more

On a recent one week visit to the Redwoods I ate here twice and the food and service are excellent. From the outside it doesn't look like much but it's a must stop for food. The chef cooking does a great job. I wish I had pictures. read more

We were recently in Scotia to explore the redwoods. We happened upon this restaurant and decided to give it a go. I ordered the Hawaiian Tortas. My wife ordered Tacos. She loved them. The Hawaiian Tortas - top five sandwich I've ever had...and I am 60 so I've had a lot of sandwiches. It was amazing, and unique - all kinds of flavors that worked perfectly together. Nearing the edge of hangry and trying to keep my mitts off the M&Ms I convinced hubby to stop in Rio Dell on way back to Gualala. Two burger options - my pick because Im the one reading Yelp reviews. Driver goes where I say ( ok I win sometimes - this is one of those). I chose this little place. Pics on the boards do not do it justice. I'm not a major burger fan but hubby is. I got Avacado burger which was HUGE and cooked perfectly with plenty of avacado - it was so yummy and juicy! I used a lot of napkins - probably should have had a bib! Thankfully I didn't spill a thing on me! Hubby got the bacon burger. Good thing he has a big mouth ( I mean this in the wife of 36 years kindest way ) he could get a mouthful of all the fixings that were piled in that bun! The French fries were crispy outside and soft inside and also deserved a 5 star. Very friendly family owned establishment. I saw some write about the decor - This was humble but who cares?! After a day of hiking around Humboldt Redwoods on our recent camping trip, we were searching for an eatery and couldn't have been more pleased with this GEM we stumbled upon in Rio Dell. It was Tuesday so what did we happen to find?? TREASURE... AKA TACO TUESDAYYYY AYYYYY! My husband and I LOVE Mexican food and could easily have tacos/burritos in our weekly rotation. Given the millions of tacos we consume a year, I must say these carne asada tacos were OUTSTANDING! I'm a bit particular with how well the meat is seasoned, and there are probably only a handful of taquerias I can honestly say "nail the meat"... and this is one of them. Flavorful, juicy (not greasy), well portioned (not skimp), and balanced perfectly with the supporting cast: onion, cilantro and salsa verde. A wedge of lime (without one is a crime) and sliced radish and cucumbers served along with. And the cherry on top is the "hot salsa" - he asks if you want it, and it's served on the side for good reason. This stuff is the real deal - finely chopped habanero and shallots that I recommend you "sprinkle" sparingly upon first introduction. Once acquainted feel free to indulge but I must warn you this stuff will kick your a$$ in the best way!! Yeah!! Careful not to overdo it, as the taco is perfection as it is.. just a little heat to elevate makes it magnificent. There were many options of meat and aside tacos, the menu was quite extensive consisting tons of different burgers, tortas, sides... I wish I had some horchata. Staff incredibly friendly and sincere, really. If I lived in the area I'd be a regular here. I dare say it is the best tacos they have in the whole Humboldt county. We will make this a stop anytime we're back in the area!! Hopefully it will be a Tuesday ;D read more

We love going to the Patron Kitchen. The food is wonderful and we love the Jalapeño burgers and their fries are the best anywhere. We stopped by this cute lil café on our drive up from the Bay Area. I asked for water and they gave me a bottled water which I found interesting. Typically, other restaurants ask for your preference but no biggie. Same thing happened with the table next to us so I think you'll have to specify if you just want tap/glass of water. Ordered the Milanese Torta with a side of fries. The meat on our torta was slightly over cooked/chewy but delicious nonetheless.
