Loved the outdoor seating and a beautiful veggie garden. There was a band playing and the food and vibe were great! Had a great lunch with my son

Great stop for travelers with pets! We stopped at The Peg House on our way to the Avenue of the Giants, and we're so glad we did! This hidden gem sits just off Highway 101, so it's easy to find. All of the seating is outdoors, with plenty of shaded spots -- perfect for relaxing without baking in the sun. There's even a stage area for live music. We stopped by on a Monday evening, so no music that day, but the atmosphere was still wonderful and laid-back. When we went to order, we were greeted by incredibly friendly staff who immediately offered our dogs some treats (always an A+ in my book!). Their burger and sandwich menu had so many tempting options that it was hard to choose. I ended up with a burger topped with jalapeños, while my partner went for one with bacon. The burgers were amazing -- the meat was tender and juicy, practically melting in your mouth. The toppings complemented everything perfectly, and the bun tasted fresh and fluffy. I also really appreciated the coleslaw -- not overloaded with mayo like most. My partner loved his meal too. We've decided this will be a new tradition every time we're in the area! Pro tip: Don't skip the gift store right next to the eatery. Pick up a Train Wreck cookie, Rice Krispy treat, and a brownie -- they're all incredible. We loved them so much that we stopped again on our way home to stock up. You won't be disappointed!

Delicious burgers. I didn't realize it was outdoor seating only. Somewhat steep prices $$$. for the food size and having to sit on wet cold benches. Bathrooms needed desperate help (dirty & had to wash hands outside in the cold) Otherwise this place had good vibes and friendly staff. Would love to come back in warmer weather if in the area

never not stop. this place is a random oasis in the middle of the redwoods. rootbeer floats, harris ranch beef burgers with heirloom tomatoes, beautiful flowers and live music under a peaceful canopy of trees. it'll always be in my core memories. additionally, there is a little store with literally anything and everything you'd ever need or want. i like how the campsite across the street, standish hickey, literally has a trail dedicated to visiting this store and restaurant. and the service was so friendly like you're in a small town or something. can't wait to come back again next summer :)

Needed to add that I've been back a few times since, and the BBQ oysters are also AMAZING, they are garlicky and delicious

I love stopping here when traveling through the redwoods. Years ago I was staying by myself at the campground across the street and didn't feel like cooking - I walked across the street and had the nicest time. There is a fun little general store with lots of gift items to browse through and then there is the big patio with a stage and most every time I've been there, there has been live music happening. There is a little food truck to get burgers etc. I have celiac and they were very knowledgeable as to what was safe for me to have. Be sure to save room for the delicious berry sundaes! Sit back and enjoy the music.

Great spot to sit outside. They even have live music sometimes! Must order the BBQ oysters. They were the largest and most delicious bbq oysters I've had! Lots of garlic butter and sauce and cooked the perfect amount. Yum! Plenty of other sandwiches and beer options if oysters aren't your thing

We went here on a late afternoon on a Friday while traveling up the coast to see the Redwoods. I'd read great reviews, and this place did not disappoint! The ambiance is adorable. They have an amazing living garden and picnic tables set up facing a stage. We were there when a duo was playing a nice acoustic set. Food was outstanding. We each had burgers. Everything was fresh and filling. A hidden gem for sure!

It was fantastic. The apricot Brie burger was amazing as was the root beer. Terrific setting and service just could not have been better. Even bought a California native plant to take home as gift.

The best beef burger in California. I got two Bigfoot burgers. Also the blackberry sundae was delicious!

My wife, her mom, and I, all like burgers so figured this would be a good place to stop. Our cellular service did not work here, so had to use the info I had downloaded in Google maps to know where to stop. It ended up being pretty good. Hours are daily 11:00 - 20:00, so we arrived just after it opened and were the first ones. There is two areas for outdoor dining: a large set of picnic tables near the chimney tree as well as a patio at the restaurant itself. We soon realized that a cat was roaming the patio, looking for food, so we decided to eat inside, instead. It's a one man operation, with the owner fulfilling multiple roles. After we orders and paid, we got a pager to notify us once the order was ready. Everything is prepared fresh, so it took a bit of time. But because it was served hot, everything tasted good. I love a lot of toppings on my burger, so the self-serve topping bar was great...was able to put as much lettuce and pickles as I wanted. The 1/3 hamburger ($12.99) came with good fries . My wife got her plain cheeseburger 1/4 cheeseburger ($9.99) and enjoyed it. Her mom got chicken strips basket ($13.99), and upgraded her fries to be curly. We all shared each others fries, and the curly fries were really good. Drinks are cans. I didn't want to risk having a milk shake, but from all indications, it sounded good. We ate our meal at the counter. Afterwards, the owner suggested we walk across the parking lot to visit the Living Chimney Tree. It's free to enter, and is hollow enough for a person or two fit in. There are openings on both sides, so easy to take some nice pictures.
