I ate here twice while visiting the Avenue of the Giants. Breakfast restaurants are few. I had the choice of here, or the chain restaurant next door...I chose the local's spot. Glad I did. It's super cute, love the cows everywhere. It's not very big, so no large parties unless you don't mind being at separate tables. I sat at the counter both times since I was by myself. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is good and the prices reasonable.

The coffee and food are great here. A nice, small town diner where people know each other and feel at home. Love all the cow decor, everyone working here is so nice.

    Cute place!

We stopped for lunch on our road trip. We prefer small independent restaurants over chains and this place was perfect. I had the chili which was delicious, meaty with beans and a slight kick to it. My husband had a tuna sandwich with the special soup of the day, turkey rice. He loved the soup! We sat at the counter and chatted with the owner's daughter-in-law who was our server. She was so friendly and gave us a quick history of the restaurant after I told her I loved all the cows. Definitely worth a stop!

Privately owned unique café, good service, and good food. The ambience is unique. Menu is simple. Breakfast and lunch only. No dinner.

I'm so happy we drifted into the Eel River Cafe by happenstance. Our original plans fell thru (hey businesses - make sure your posted Yelp hours are accurate), but no worries because this warm little cafe was there for us in a pinch. Our waitperson was super friendly and assured us we made good choices with our veggie omelettes. She was right! The hash browns and sourdough toast were delicious too. It's a pretty good value too, $13.25 for omelette and two sides. We're from the SF Bay Area, where many places charge $17-$20+ for a meal this hearty. We'll absolutely return to this adorable spot the next time we pass through Garberville.

Met my friend for lunch who lives in Garberville. Check the specials, amazing food! A must stop!

Amazing hot and fresh food! Classic atmosphere. Love the decor. Service was very very good. Love the small town feel. Met my friend for lunch who lives in town. Didn't get a pic of the food but the Grilled chicken Sando special on ciabatta was so juicy and good, the temperature was so nice on the bread. It was like they were only cooking for me I felt my sando had that much care put into it. Biscuits and gravy were also enjoyed, and a burger. It's a must stop for sure

Now I can say I've been to two eateries in Garberville. Count 'em. Two. Considering Garberville's population hovers around 900, that makes me a near-native, I think. Don't ask me for a joint though. I'm out of doobs, dude. Last time I motored through town a couple of years back, I tried the popular Woodrose Cafe and enjoyed my tofu and veggies. Seriously (review: https://bit.ly/3PYYA77). This time I was with Jamie W. and decided to try this friendly diner just 'cause we felt like it. Besides, they have a cool vintage neon sign (photo: https://bit.ly/3aAihSt). Inside was equally vintage with a formica counter and high-back booths. They mounted lucite dividers between the booths to help us feel safer. They're also big on cows as that was the main decor theme. We were in a breakfast mood, so Jamie ordered the $8 Two Scrambled Eggs with Hash Browns (photo: https://bit.ly/3GSVZHz). I chose the $11.95 Veggie Lover's Omelette with spinach, tomato, mushrooms, onion, and Swiss cheese. Instead of the hash browns, I went for the grilled Country Potatoes, a smart choice (photo: https://bit.ly/3MgjDyV). Both of us traded in the toast for the Homemade Biscuit with Gravy, another smart choice if calories are not a consideration (photo: https://bit.ly/3arrhZX). Perhaps to offset the nutritional offenses, we shared the $5.75 Fruit Bowl which consisted of fresh strawberries, watermelon, and pineapple (photo: https://bit.ly/391z1lr). Jenny was an unfailingly cheerful server, and we certainly filled up for our long road trip home. FOOD - 4 stars...solid diner fare served here AMBIANCE - 4 stars...nostalgic diner vibes SERVICE - 4.5 stars...friendly with a smile and coffee refills TOTAL - 4 stars...now I know two places to grab a meal in Garberville RELATED - Exploring the redwoods? A cute cow themed cafe stop. Food was tasty even if a little on the expensive side when considering the portions and for a diner in that area. Service was good too. I would go back if in the area again.

Fun, time warp place frequented by locals. Basic food served with honesty. No avocado toast here.

I'm a bit of a coffee snob, so l asked about the beans - they actually brought the bag over and walked me through it. I got an Americano and it was excellent. My wife ordered the Honey Town Latte and loved it because it wasn't overly sweet. Then the food came - I had the ham and cheese croissant and it blew me away. Tangy honey mustard, a bit of pickled onion, melted cheese, and a poached egg on a fresh, toasted croissant. So much flavor. Honestly, while other places in town have long waits, this place delivered on flavor, coffee, and hospitality!

First visit, we had the cafe miel and cheesy Toastie. I never thought I would enjoy honey in my coffee and I'm not even a coffee drinker but this would make me convert. It was perfectly balanced. The Toastie was a simple but tasty snack. I was almost tempted to order another one. I had to go back the next day to have breakfast and try their Cup of Sunshine. Another unique yummy drink if you like chamomile tea with frothy milk/cinnamon on top. I also ordered: Carrot cake muffin - moist and had blueberries on top. Eggy bagel - open faced bagel. Forgot to take a picture before I dove right in. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked, yolk perfectly runny. Puppaccino - my dog gave it a 25/10 (they have a pup menu under Classics! It's small so don't miss it!). Place is kept really nice and clean. Portable speaker placed inside a potted plant - super cute and funny. Love their music choice, chill vibes and I think it keeps the plant happy because it's green and a decent size! Service was super friendly. They even remembered us from our first visit and welcomed us. Definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back if I am ever in the area again.
