Had lunch on a Wednesday, it was quiet as breakfast is their busiest time, but folks regularly came in to pick up orders to go. Friendly service, willing to customize dishes with small additions or omissions. Tried the chilaquiles and tropical smoothie based on reviews, and got a breakfast burrito to go. Place is cozy but lots of table options. It looks out to a parking lot and the drug store beyond, so you're not here for the view. Very friendly service, answered questions and provided helpful options. Bathroom for customers was nice and clean, if a bit on the dark side. Ordered at the counter and found a seat, my smoothie came out first and then a bit of wait (which I never mind because it means food is made fresh) then my chilaquiles cmae out and a while later my to-go burrito. I rarely eat chilaquiles as it is basically nachos (corn chips and cheese), but it is the sauce the put over the corn chips, as well as the beans and egg they include that make it good. I tried the red & green to taste both sauces. Red was a classic enchilada sauce with solid depth of flavor. The green sauce I liked better as I like tomatillos and the other ingredients in a green sauce. It tasted fresh and homemade. The refried beans were cooked right. They cooked my over-hard egg perfectly. I liked that nothing tasted over-salted as so much food does to folks like me who go easy on the salt generally. They were kind enough to omit pineapple from the tropical smoothie, as I'm not a fan, and I liked the fruity taste, especially the chili & lime, which gave it a nice heat. I also liked that they asked me if I needed a straw, which I didn't, rather than give me one and add it to the trash. The breakfast burrito was huge - could get two meals out of the generous size - I see why they are popular here. Lots of egg and chorizo along with some hash browns, beans, and a good amount of cheese. The chorizo is naturally greasy, so be sure to wrap the burrito in something if you get it to go so you don't end up with grease on your car seat. When you see a lot of customers who are Mexican, you know it is good Mexican food, and it is. Affordable, tasty and a great place to eat in or take out for breakfast/brunch until 1pm. read more

After a disappointing first vacation meal in Fort Bragg, I was excited to see a Mexican breakfast spot with such great ratings. Sadly though, it was just another disappointing Fort Bragg meal. I ordered the huevos con chorizo and my mom the pancakes with eggs and bacon. Everything was pretty bland and needed the addition of salt. Once I added salt to my meal it was much more enjoyable. The scramble was a little over cooked, but the hashbrowns were cooked perfectly, and I liked the texture of the beans. My mom's pancakes had no flavor at all. When she said that, I was skeptical and thought that maybe they were just a little bland, but no, they really tasted like nothing. No sweetness whatsoever. The syrup helped, but you shouldn't have to smother a pancake in syrup for it to have flavor. We arrived fairly early in the morning and there was only one group ahead of us waiting for their food. The food took a while to come out, and it didn't come out at the same time. We had a good 5 minute wait between entrees arriving. The prices here were better than most places in the area, not over priced and pretty reasonable for the portions. Just wish the food had more flavor. read more

We are blessed to have so many yummy spots in Fort Bragg. Sunday I did a review of the laundry right next door, the smells emanating were divine. My son and his girlfriend treated and both got the burrito which was giant and AWESOME. My son dipped into my plate and reveled at its flavor. The chips were the perfect consistency remaining crispy even while melded with the best green sauce in town and cheese. The eggs were perfectly fried and the black beans an amazing complement. We came to Fort Bragg for the beauty but lucky found this family run cafe hiding behind CVS on Main St. The three of us ordered the Juevos Rancheros, Berry and Banana Crepes, and Wet Breakfast Burrito. Trying to find someone where to sit down and dine was a pain in Fort Bragg. I really wanted to try Egghead but that didn't work out so I found this little spot right next to the CVS. It was a small quiet family owned restaurant. You placed your order at the window and then found a seat. The fruit that was ordered for a fruit bowl was cut fresh to order. I even requested an orange juice which was freshly squeezed for me. That was delicious. Huevos Rancheros was exactly what I needed and the papas and black beans just tied everything together. I also was able to try the French toast and a sugar free latte, both were soooo so good. If you're ever in Fort Bragg and want authentic Mexican breakfast, stop in here. I picked out this place for family breakfast and I'm so incredibly happy that we stopped by. The food was fantastic and the service was very good. Very happy we went here for breakfast one morning when we were visiting Fort Bragg/Mendocino. My husband got crapes that were loaded with fruit, as well as a traditional Mexican breakfast. Quick review: definitely go! Bring cash! Passing through town on a road trip and looking for a delicious and hearty breakfast. Came across Cafe Jaavy on Yelp and the reviews were right. Very happy we chose to eat here rather than the other local diners. The menu was simple but sometimes being really good and few things is better than being just ok at a lot of things. Anyway, husband got the Huevos Rancheros with black beans and hash browns and a mocha. I got the breakfast burrito with sausage and a latte. Everything was delicious, hot and flavorful. If I could change one thing, I would've ordered the Chilaquiles instead, based on how well the Rancheros were executed. The tortilla was still crunchy, the eggs had a nice dark color to the yolk, the chorizo was flavorful and little crispy. He even liked and ate the black beans, which is remarkable since he's not a fan of beans. The burrito was a good size, packed with flavorful sausage, fluffy eggs and cheesy. I would switch out the hash browns for potatoes to add a contrast in textures. Make sure to ask for a side of spicy green salsa that really elevated the burrito. Coffees were also well executed. This was a cute local hole in the wall place for some brunch. On the way home, we decided to stop by for some breakfast burritos. It was pretty busy but we were able to secure some seats for two after putting in our order. I got the breakfast burrito with chorizo and tropical smoothie. The breakfast burrito came out fresh and piping hot. Lots of good flavor and the chorizo bits made it delicious. The serving size was pretty generous as well. One downside is that there was too much sour cream spread all over the burrito but no big deal. The tropical smoothie was tasty as well as refreshing.
