After giving the menu a look through I opted for a standard I go for when I see it, the Chili Relleno The plate a Chili Relleno plus a barbacoa taco rice and beans, with a real mexican bottle Sprite. Very basic bit also very good. The rice and beans very basic and a little bland, needed salt and pepper. The Pablano chili stuffed with cheese was very good and a nice flavorful stuffing with a nice breading exterior and sour cream on top. The Barbacoa taco was a good crispy taco, basic but good, very traditional street taco style. The chips and salsa housemade, with a decent lunch and a real cane sugar Sprite. Read some good reviews about this place on yelp. My fellow Yelpers did not let me down! Before I placed my order, a gentleman brought me chips and two different salsas. Both were phenomenal! One red and one green, and absolutely tasty! I love it when restaurants bring you enough salsa for your chips. It really shows they understand what the customers want and need. I ordered the Carne Asada nachos, and I was not disappointed. The chips were warm and perfectly crispy with melted cheese. The ingredients like cilantro, tomatoes and onions were fresh and tasty, as was the guacamole. Now, for the customer service. The gentleman who took my order was so friendly and was striking up a conversation with me about where I was from and what I was doing in town he asked me questions about my family, etc. He was very friendly and helpful. If I could leave a zero-star rating, I would. The waiter was very nice, but the place was empty, and my kids wanted some tacos, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered three tacos and two tortas. As soon as the waiter brought out the tacos, I smelled a foul odor. I ignored it at first and had my partner smell them as well. Unfortunately, the carne asada was rotten, and the smell was horrible. My kids took one bite and immediately refused to eat anymore. I would never recommend this place. Additionally, the cook smoked before preparing our food, so who knows if she washed her hands? We are blessed to have more Mexican restaurants per capita than anywhere else I have ever lived or visited. La Estrella is one I'd driven by many times and is by some very busy end destinations so it may get overlooked. A co-worker turned me onto them saying they are the only place that gives two sauces with chips. Something that should be standard but isn't locally. I googled their menu a placed an order. I am an enchilada snob and stopped ordering them locally because nobody else's cut it. So after a late night and little sleep I asked for cheese enchiladas and truly expected to regret it. I want ones that are full of cheese, onions, cilantro and flooded with red sauce, artery stoppers brimming with flavor. I opened the box and was pleased with how pretty the presentation and size were, though not like my dream-chilada. I sighed and started by sampling the sauce, the red and super hot were good but the greed was tremendous. My mood perked up as I started on the beans and rice, both great. Lastly I tried their rendition of the classic enchilada and I must say I was happy I did. It had great flavor, texture and melted in my mouth. The folks who helped me on the phone were courteous and very friendly, they even greeted me as I entered. The place was warm and I felt as though I'd been transported to Old Laredo, where I spent a bunch of time years ago. We came into this place at 2pm, and made the decision based on the reviews here on Yelp. We checked out the menu and the choices were varied enough for our picky kids. The staff took our order, cooked our meals fresh, checked on our satisfaction, and replenished our chips and salsa. I had the Carne Asada nachos, my wife had a breakfast burrito, one sone had a breakfast plate, and the eldest had a bean/cheese burrito. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we ate so much, we couldn't even fit in the ice cream place that was next door (with the aroma of waffle cones floating into the street), so that says a lot. If you are looking to get some great Mexican food, this is the spot. Total bill was $40! I left a ten dollar tip because they deserved it for their great food and service. read more

This lil place is easy to miss if you are looking for a flashy sidewalk sign. I'm so glad we stopped in to this place on our way out of town because everything about it was great. We were immediately greeted, seated, and given the traditional Mexican restaurant chips and salsa. But the salsa was delicious. Our meals hit the spot and we left there very satisfied. Went here on a weekend trip in Fort Bragg and holy smokes. I read previous reviews complaining how the food is greasy, if you're NOT looking for authentic Mexican food, then go ahead and drive to the Taco Bell down the road. We were not sorry we chose to wait about 20 minutes for this place to open. We were the first customers in and got a warm welcoming right away. I decided to get the Pambazo special and I tell ya, it was soft bread, but also had a perfect crunch after biting in, a wonderful balance, not so crunchy you bite it once and everything slides off. This one was actually manageable to eat haha. I enjoyed it very much. I also had to get the Tacos Dorado and again, amazing crunch. I ordered the Tacos Dorado which is three deep fried tacos to an order. I chose two potato and one carnitas. Man, they were delicious! The potato was mashed nice and smooth. The carnitas were moist and tender. My boyfriend got the cheese and chile tamales which were a much bigger portion than we expected. These were the perfect texture, not dry and crumbly like tamales often tend to be. His bacon wrapped hot dog was still delicious even after a three hour drive! We try and eat here whenever we are in town when they are open. Mexican breakfast all day, what is not to like! Really fresh flavors and preparation. I hate leaving poor reviews, but our experience is worth mentioning. My fiancé and I have never been to Fort Bragg, but Google recommended this restaurant and I took its advice. We walked in to an empty restaurant at about noon. It took a couple minutes to get service at the counter, but received courteous help after that. Unfortunately, much of the food was inedible by our standards. We ordered 3 fried potato tacos, which were bland, overly oily, and wet with water from the lettuce and sliced onion directly placed on top. We also got cheese "enchiladas", which seemed to have come made with ricotta cheese and no sauce. The beans and rice both looked to be of canned/premade quality. Overall, we ended up spending about the same amount ($22) at the Taco Bell down the road for a more satisfying experience. read more

Awesome find of this authentic Mexican restaurant while walking main st. They had Carne En Su Jugo, to die for, doubtful any locals even know what this is. Only time I get this dish, is when my wife makes it at home. Otherwise, won't be found at restaurants, even in Sacramento, where we're from. Wife had posole, and daughter had sopes, both were very good and authentic. What a treat, waitress was spot on, kept my ice tea full and got anything we needed. I was excited to try this new Mexican spot, but unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. The flavors were decent but the 3 tacos were literally as small as my finger. I Also ordered the tacos dorado. The menu says it is 3 fried tacos but it's taquitos, hardly enough for an appetizer. So needless to say, we spent 15 bucks and are both still hungry. They definitely need to think about portion size.
