The service was great, our waiter/server was very nice and answered all our questions, he checked in on us often and offered what we needed when we needed it Drinks : we'll be coming back to try their margaritas and such, they have such a long menu of different variations / flavors we're excited for, but only ordered soft drinks this time around, I'm pregnant currently so we'll be back down the road when drinking is something I'll be able to participate in again. Food: food was great ! My husband ordered street tacos and loved them, they had great flavor and each bite had enough of everything. I ordered the grilled chicken taco salad, the one in the crispy tortilla shell bowl- loved it ! The shell was perfect, it added such a great crunch, the salad itself was good, and we had a lot of leftovers to take home as well ! The restaurant itself is super cute with a nice ambiance ! The tables and restaurant were super decorated and they had fun music going too so the vibe was super pleasant and we were just happy to be there. Definitely recommend :)

Worst dining experience we've had on this trip so far…read more My fiancé and I are road-tripping up the 101, and we knew restaurants in our destination city would be closed by the time we arrived, so we intentionally stopped in Arcata around 6 PM to grab dinner well ahead of time. We ordered a California burrito, chicken enchiladas and a side of tortillas to go. We were told the food would take about 20 minutes and it ended up taking closer to 30, which honestly wasn't a big deal. If anything, I assumed that meant everything was being made fresh. Unfortunately, when I took my first bite of the enchiladas, there was nothing inside except cheese. I checked again to make sure I wasn't somehow missing the chicken and then brought it to the staff's attention. Instead of offering to remake the meal, they offered to bring me shredded chicken on the side so I could essentially open up the enchiladas and stuff them myself. In my car. That alone was frustrating, but then I realized I had also been charged for three sides of tortillas instead of the one side I ordered. The original receipt was voided and I was made to repay for the burrito and all three sides of tortillas. They took back my enchilada plate, but I was still left paying for tortillas I had specifically ordered to eat alongside the enchiladas, with no enchiladas to actually eat them with. What really turned this into a 1-star experience was how the situation was handled. Pickup initially felt friendly, but once I pointed out the mistake, the interaction did a complete 180 and became rude and dismissive. I even explained that this was my only real dinner option for the night because of where we were headed, and they still wouldn't offer to remake the enchiladas. This all happened before 7 PM, and the restaurant doesn't close until 9 PM. Mistakes happen. Forgetting the chicken could have been fixed incredibly easily. Offering me a DIY solution in my car instead of simply remaking the meal is what made this such a disappointing experience.

Delicious Homemade Mexican Food--The Perfect Post-Hike Meal!…read more We came here for dinner after a long day of hiking in the redwoods and were so glad we did, as the food was incredibly tasty and satisfying. Oaxaca Grill is a wonderful, family-run restaurant in downtown Eureka, operated by the parents, Carmen and Tony, and their daughter, Yuri. Carmen is the main chef, and you can truly taste the care she puts into making amazing homemade Mexican food. The ambiance is casual and cozy. We were traveling as two families and easily found tables on a Tuesday evening for an early dinner. The main dishes completely hit the spot: * Garlicky Soft Prawn Tacos: My wife ordered these, which were served with sautéed onions, fresh garlic, and the most amazing, flavorful mango salsa on the side. * Spicy Oaxaca Chicken Mole: I got this special dish, which featured a tender chicken breast topped with authentic, spicy Oaxacan mole. This mole is savory, rich, and incredibly flavorful, made from thirty imported Oaxacan ingredients. It came served with yummy rice and beans. * Prawn Soft Tacos: We also ordered these, and they were fantastic, paired with a crisp jicama coleslaw. * Kids' Dishes: Our children ordered from the children's plate options. My son got the chicken enchiladas, which came with fries and beans, and he absolutely loved it. My daughter had the cheese and bean burrito, which she really enjoyed as well. * Desserts: To wrap up the meal, we tried the coconut flan and the crème brûlée. Both were a sweet end to the night, and the crème brûlée in particular was absolutely amazing. Overall, it was a fantastic, comforting dining experience with wonderful hospitality. If you are in downtown Eureka, this family-run spot is highly recommended!

Parking was street parking and easy to find. We were seated right away, and service was great! We ordered a carnitas burrito and a few pastor tacos. The burrito barely had any meat, it was 95% rice and beans. The tacos were just ok. I don't think we will return. Not sure why this place has so many good reviews...
