The service was great, our waiter/server was very nice and answered all our questions, he checked in on us often and offered what we needed when we needed it Drinks : we'll be coming back to try their margaritas and such, they have such a long menu of different variations / flavors we're excited for, but only ordered soft drinks this time around, I'm pregnant currently so we'll be back down the road when drinking is something I'll be able to participate in again. Food: food was great ! My husband ordered street tacos and loved them, they had great flavor and each bite had enough of everything. I ordered the grilled chicken taco salad, the one in the crispy tortilla shell bowl- loved it ! The shell was perfect, it added such a great crunch, the salad itself was good, and we had a lot of leftovers to take home as well ! The restaurant itself is super cute with a nice ambiance ! Have been to Arcata many times and this was my first time here. Such a cool location and I love the details in the restaurant. We both had margaritas and they did not disappoint. Surprised is the last emotion I want to feel when I'm trying to get a late night dinner when driving to my hotel for the night. El chipotle presented that emotion to me when I got their food. Holy crap. FOOD We ordered the 4 little tacos and asada fries. We were honestly shocked at how good they were. The tacos were your standard street taco style. The meat was tender and tasty. The seasoning was to perfection and how I would cook them as well. The asada fries were also amazing too! SERVICE The servers were amazing. They were nice and attentive. They were also very responsive as well. ALL IN ALL, this is an amazing spot for Mexican food. It honestly rival the great names in SoCal. this was a to go order that was placed by a caregiver. Did not come out exactly as expected. I was charged 6.99 for a container of pico de gallo that wasn't really ordered and 1.50 for hot sauce that wasn't really necessary. whether this was a language issue I don't know but when I called the next day asking for the manager I ran up against it myself. I don't care so much about all the extra money I was charged bringing the bill to almost $28 for a simple shredded chicken chimichanga and a separate charge for a to go order. The food was unremarkable. The whole experience annoying and it certainly did not add up to all the praise of this place. Will not be trying this one again! read more

After a long pause we decided to try this place again. We had given up on it a while back but heard it changed hands a couple years ago. We were so happy we did! It's been many different Mexican restaurants over the years, originally was Fiesta Cafe. The latest, as of two years or so ago, is El Chipotle, but the menu couldn't keep its secret! It's one of the 4 restaurants in the Fiesta Cafe family. I was super excited to see my favorites in the menu: Pollo A La Crema, their authentic and flavorful Molé, and Chicken with Sliced Potatoes. You can't go wrong with any of these! Aside from the Pollo A La Crema most dishes, like the molé, you can have prepared as enchiladas, burrito, taco, or bowl/salad. And it's diner's choice: chicken, beef, seafood, or veggies. The possibilities are endless. The inside is a large bright open room, with extra seating on the side, in the back, or outside. Plenty of options depending on your mood or the number of folks in your party. The service was great, we were offered to sit anywhere we like, gave drink orders right away, and had chips and salsa in a flash. We didn't wait long at all for our food either. Eaten a lot Mexican food over the years and in a lot of different cities and states. Most do not match our little local spot. We were greeted walking in the door, by the young man busing the dining room. The restaurant interior is a very traditional mexican style with some booths and tables and chairs inside and a covered area outside. Some of the best Mexican food around period. Menudo is really good on point, traditional rich and flavorful, just like it should be with diced onions and fresh cilantro. Not for the faint at heart. Chili Verde a large portion with rice and refrieds and some fresh corn tortillas again exceptionally good, tender pork in a great fresh "green" sauce that actually looks like its made from real tomatillos and not canned. Even the rice and beans, though basic are really good, near perfect cook on both and the refrieds with a little queso, very good. My friend had the Fiesta Enchilada and said it was exceptional as well, and my tasting I would concur. Great Mexican food is here, some of the best period. We go there at least 2 times a week and it's the best restaurant in town. Something for the whole family. It's my 10 year old daughter and my 7 year old son's favorite restaurant and we go there for birthdays and normal days. At birthdays they have an epic show at dessert. I had Mary's margarita which is my preferred way to make a margarita: tequila, lime juice and Cointreau, no sweet and sour. It was excellent! The family ordered all over the menu. We sat out on the patio, my son was well behaved telling people it was his birthday. 2/3 of the way through the meal and 6 top came in, and older man tried to shut access off to the patio because of my children. His younger people in his party stopped it, also it's not allowed but he didn't care. After that it derailed even more, we were ignored. Repeatedly asked what we needed, I wanted a box and the check. Found this place on yelp with great reviews and decided to stop by. We had a great experience so we went back a second time the next day lol. It's a cute, decorative restaurant with its own parking lot, enough for many cars. Inside was very spacious and colorful. Staff were nice and attentive, and bathroom was clean. However, my only complaint is that it was FREEZING in the restaurant lol. We ordered the tilapia plate and enchilada plate. The enchilada was ok but the tilapia was delicious! I think because the fish was small i was given 2 fish! We thought they were pretty big lol. But we ate all and ordered the tilapia the second time too. It was well seasoned and just so good! El Chipotle was just AMAZING. I am from LA which can be known to have good Mexican food however, if I could transport this restaurant to LA I would. This restaurant has authentic Mexican food/flavors. The salsa was very good and spicy. I definitely recommend the grande maíz quesadilla which comes with a HAND MADE tortilla. The pambazo was also very good (not many Mexican restaurants even have pambazos). The ambiance is fun with colorful chairs and Spanish music.
