Sadly, I would have to say this is three stars at best. Our server was very nice but a little awkward. The setup is not great inside. Based on the reviews we anticipated a better experience. The food was blah and despite our low expectations was just so so. Salsa was watering and flavorless. The chips were stale. The sampler platter was eh. You had to dip everything in queso to give it some flavor. The other dish was a three item combo with a beef taco and two enchiladas. They use cabbage here instead of lettuce which was a nice difference. The margarita was the 4 star experience. Although very tart and sweet it kicked my butt. Definitely got a buzz. I would not recommend or return based on this experience although many have given it high ratings. read more

This is hands down some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. I think the secret lies within their tortillas. They hand make their tortillas in house, so every tortilla item you order is made fresh. You can also see them making the tortillas there in the kitchen as you are sitting at your table. You can't beat a meal that is made fresh in the kitchen. The employees are extremely nice and attentive. Our waitress always made sure we had what we needed. We tried the pachanga sampler (pictured). It came with nachos, taquitos, quesadillas, jalapeño poppers, and queso dip. This specific dish runs about $20, but like I said before, all of the tortillas involved are freshly made, and the food is absolutely delicious! read more

I hate giving bad reviews but yikes! Thought we'd try something new and local. Ordered a chicken fajita burrito, steak fajita burrito, and Queso blanco. The Queso was nothing more than thinned out velveeta. No white cheese. Both burritos were bland. No seasoning at all. It's how I imagine hospital food would taste in Mexico. It doesn't have to be spicy but maybe a few seasonings??? Salt & pepper would have been an improvement. The steak tasted boiled. Not even a char from a grill. The chicken burrito was also bland. There were no fajita vegetables in it. The best part was the fresh tortilla but it it was stuffed with disappointment. read more

This family run establishment is my wife's favorite though not mine. She loves that pretty much everything is hand made. She also loves their margaritas - not too sweet. Servers are super friendly. Pleasant decor. Good location right on 101 north. My own issue is with the food. In particular, it is not well seasoned, not very tasty. Salsas tend to be watery, without much zing. So check it out, though in my opinion there are plenty of better options for Mexican food in Eureka and Arcata. read more

Walking around Eureka loving the homes and buildings. On the way back found this restaurant and as it was around dinner time I stopped in. Very nice staff, seated quickly and gave good recommendations. Chips fresh and not oily, salsa was a cabbage based Pico De Gallo with very nice flavor a mild heat. They bring a roasted chipotle salsa for the heat but it was not overly hot. Ordered fajitas burrito very nice size stuffed with everything. By the way the pico goes great on the burrito. When I was done I was full. I will come back here again. Only thing I would change would be to add some sauce/gravy over the burrito. read more

Yessss Pachanga ! I was placed in Eureka for a month and within that time, my friends and I had to come back here for a second time. I love this cute Mexican restaurant! Walking it, the decoration is very lively. Then you get their menu and it's filled with photos of their family. Just sitting there makes you feel like you have been welcomed into their home for some home-cooked meal. The staff here is super sweet and accommodating! We had a group of 6 and they offered to keep the tabs separate to make things easy for us. They are more than happy to make suggestions on what to get and the food here is delicious! Plus, the margaritas are delicious and just hits the spot after a stressful day of clinic! I had the carne asada taco, flautas, and some of my friend's jalapeno poppers. The flautas were by far my favorite! They were crispy, flavorful and I loved the toppings that came with it. The jalapeno poppers were HUGEE. Some as large as a small hand! They also have a spicy salsa that comes with the chips, which adds a nice kick to every dish. We were on a weekend trip for a family event and when we got into town, this 4 star restaurant was recommended to us. We were served salsa and chips but the salsa was literally tomato sauce with cabbage in it. There was no garlic, no cilantro, no spice and no seasoning. The chips were warm but stale. My husband ordered a chimichanga with red sauce on the side and I ordered beef fajitas with veggies. Our food came out pretty quickly and my husband liked the chimichanga (it was okay, he said) but my fajitas... There was a heaping amount of vegetables and very little beef. The vegetables tasted like frozen Chinese stir fry veggies. There was squash, zucchini, onions, peppers, broccoli and sugar snap peas. The meat was small strips, were dry and had no seasoning on them at all. I was given flour tortillas per my request and I ate half a tortilla with the meat and veggies and the other half with just meat. That's all I could eat because it was that bad. It was beef and vegetable stir fry in a tortilla and not fajitas. Also, the lights were off when we came in and they turned them on while we were eating. I could not eat another bite. We paid and left and will never come back. read more

Right on the 101, I dropped into this place while working in Arcata. They had my favorite mexican dish (Camarones a la Diabla) so I thought I'd see if it would live up to the Diabla standard. If you don't like real chipotle heat with large shrimp, you should play it safe and order a taco salad. Service was quick. Chef did a great job, cilantro, chipotle, pepper char, a simple dinner and so damn spicy. So damn good...Ate every single bit of it. Only minor complaint I had was it ran me $30. read more

Ordered a beef and a chicken fajita burrito along with Chile con queso online. Received the confirmation my order was received. Arrived at pick up food and they can't fine the order. After a lot of back and forth they "found" the paid for order, apologized and said they would make it quickly. Queso tasted like watered down Velveeta. Chips were bland. Both burritos were terrible. So bland. No onions or peppers in a "fajita" burrito. Tasted like boiled meat in a tortilla with bland rice and beans. $40 for that. read more

I didn't have a huge appetite and opted for the ala carte chicken enchilada. It came with an AMAZING mole sauce. This simple enchilada saved the day for me. I had actually ordered a beef enchilada and got the chicken, but I didn't complain. A table next to me got pork instead of the ordered beef. Maybe a communication barrier between server and cook?
