This is small town a really small town with Eureka about a 10 minute drive away The kid is in school, therefore needs to focus on classes and gets to hang out with us when he get a chance. We didn't have a car at first, so we are limited to Arcata. This was a good thing since we wanted to check out the town that Big said the Pickens are slim but good. There are a few bars in town. This is the only one being a traditional bar. I would even go as far as saying dive bar if it were in San Diego, but here I think it's just a regular bar. Payment is cash only. There's a long bar that has settled over the years and sloped towards the Bartender. There are a few tables along the opposite wall, which we did not sit at. There may have been something out back because I saw people going that way, but I didn't go check it out. We came on three separate occasions. Everybody here was incredibly friendly as they have been in town. It seems like all the locals also come here we saw the cook from another restaurant having a drink at the end of his shift. Don't expect anything fancy here it's a straight bar with a good selection of spirits. I generally stick to a vodka soda or Keile soda when it was something like this by Jenifer behind the bar said she's happy to take direction and made me the most perfect margarita. Another person next to me even ordered the same thing. So I'm in town if you want a place to grab a drink that's straightforward and friendly. This is the place.

My bartender was funny, kind and gracious and made me feel welcome and appreciated RGT&TR is an eclectic mix of folks from 21 and up, a large portion of the room is also over 40. The room is a smaller space with a mixture booths and chairs, a singular bar with about 6 to 8 or so stools, along with a few tables and chairs and also an outdoor seating area. The noodles were really good bar food, and my draft a decent pour. Having a nice hot green tea afterwards was a treat and that made my visit even more enjoyable and not like I was just hanging out in a bar. 3.5 Stars a cool neighborhood tavern with decent bar food and drink, rounded up for my bartender 00956

(Warning to straight white men) This place presents itself…read moreas inclusive, but I've personally heard complaints from two other straight white men who felt stigmatized here. What I experienced was the most humiliating nightlife situation I've ever dealt with, and it's something I'm still affected by when I go out in this small community. I had been going to The Goat on and off for about a year prior with no issues. No other establishment has ever had a problem with me. I'm sober and respectful. One night I was talking to a woman when a very drunk guy came up to me and asked, "Are you spiking drinks tonight?" I honestly thought he was joking and said, "No... what the hell?" To this day I do not know whether this guy was jealous because he wanted to talk to her, or if he genuinely believed something had happened to someone he knows. Either way, he had the wrong guy. He came back even more intoxicated and wanted to fight me. He was with a large friend group and was clearly the most drunk among them. I went to the bartender (Toss) and told him a guy was making serious accusations I did something I didn't do and was trying to fight me, and asked for help. What I didn't expect was a guilty-until-proven-innocent response. I wasn't asked questions or given any chance to explain. I was told there had been "several reports" that night and I was asked to leave, even though the other guy was the one threatening violence. I followed up with ownership/management over the phone the next couple of days. They told me there was no evidence of anything, that I wasn't banned, and to ignore the people involved and just enjoy my nights as long as I wasn't creating issues. I did exactly that. However, The Goat is a very clicky LGBTQ community, and after that night I was clearly socially targeted. Toss would follow me around whenever I showed up. On Sunday, the only unusual thing I did was leave the crowded karaoke room early and later take a nap in my car because I was exhausted from working earlier that day. I didn't even feel safe driving at that point. Then on Tuesday, I showed up and was told I could not come back due to another "cluster of complaints," including something about me being on my phone, which made no sense. I asked them to check the cameras because I didn't do anything wrong. Later that same Tuesday night, I saw Toss at Everett's, intoxicated, telling the owner I should be 86'd, citing these vague "incidents." I was just playing pool. I have no way to defend myself against false claims like this. No one ever complained about me before that first incident. I've spent years in Chico's bar scene with a solid reputation. False accusations are incredibly damaging. I would never spike drinks and wouldn't even know how. I don't think they realize this is bullying and harmful. I did nothing wrong, yet standing up for myself has gotten me nowhere.

A Time Capsule of True Grit…read more Walking into The Logger felt like stepping back into an era when logging was more than just a job--it was a way of life. As a former log truck driver turned heavy hauler, I was instantly transported to the good old days, surrounded by the scent of wood and stories of hard-earned grit. The walls are adorned with black-and-white photos that date back to the 1960s and earlier, each one telling a story of a time when men and women alike knew what it meant to work with their hands. It's like the ghosts of the past are still hanging around, sharing a drink with you. The night I was there, a guy was strumming some live music, his dog chilling out on a barstool like he owned the place--another regular just enjoying the vibe. There's no pretension here, just authenticity that's rare to find these days. The Logger isn't just a bar; it's a living, breathing tribute to the logging world I once knew. Every visit reminds me that I was born in the wrong era, and that's what makes this place so damn special. If you've ever felt the call of the woods, or just want to experience a slice of real history, this is where you'll find it. Xo, ss.trucknbabe
