It almost feels silly writing this review because most people know Eureka KNOW Ghallagher's is good. If you're just passing through or haven't tried it yet, give this place a chance! Their food is great quality and their portions are huge. I reccomend their corned beef with colcannon or shepards pie, they lowkey changed my life. Good service and comfy atmosphere. With the rising cost of everything, we don't eat out much but we have been looking forward to checking out Gallagher's again since they moved back to the old location. We were not disappointed. Jordan was our server and he took very good care of us. He was friendly and attentive. We all got the Captain's Platter. The servings were generous with enormous scallops and shrimp and beautiful big fish fillets. None of us could eat the whole meal so we took it home and air fried the next day. This place was interesting, definitely had an Irish setting and looked clean inside. Service does take a while which they should either hire more people or take so many people at a time. We ended up having fried calamari which definitely needs improvement, breading falls rights off and barely any flavor 1.5/10. The cheese curds that seemed more like a cheese stick 2/10. The fish fry combo, which the fish was bland 2/10, prawns were actually the best thing we ended up having there 7/10! And lastly the clam chowder 2/10 tasted like it came from a can some salt and pepper made it the 2/10 honestly, and that's what we had came for. We visited Gallagher's while staying at the historic Eagle House Inn aka The Inn at 2nd & C. It's conveniently next door and after reading great reviews, it was a no brainer this was going to be our dinner spot. As a north east girlie who loves trying cheesesteaks from all over, I am pleased to say this cheesesteak was quite tasty - especially the "beer cheese". The menu had TONS of great Irish options but I was in the mood for this steak sandwich. We also had the fish and chips which were popular amongst the table. We noticed many guests had the traditional Shepards pie that looked delicious. Cocktails were on point. Ambiance was wonderful. Seemed like the place to be in the area. Yes there are a lot of unhoused in the area but don't let that stop you from visiting. Parking behind the hotel/restaurant is free after 4pm but plenty of street parking available around town. The reason for 4 stars is due to service. Our waitress seemed like she wanted to start closing up around 7 when they are open until 9. Upon walking in, I asked if we could sit at the table by the door to ensure we'd be in the "bar area" as there is a ducked off dining area, and she said that area was closing. It shocked me since we were a few hours til close so I double checked the hours as it was a Tuesday, thinking they may close early but no, still 9pm. While seating us, she asked if we were ready to order lol. We said it was our first time and needed a minute and she walked away. Felt as though we bothered her. Gallaghers is great but the lack of enthusiasm and communication towards guests from this one server will likely keep folks from returning. We had to wave her down to get more cocktails. Almost as if we weren't ready to order food she wasn't going to return. We ordered a soup around 7:20 and by 8pm she approached said "the kitchen was closing" very blunt like so we hurried up and ordered. Guests were still rolling in until 8:45 ordering dinner so we felt rushed and unappreciated that she told us the kitchen was closing when it wouldn't. On each trip out of town we try to find a steak restaurant, an Irish pub and a brewery to enjoy. This Irish pub night could have been better but the food and kind chef (who mingled with many guests) made it worth it. read more

Guinnness beef stew was good as was the blackened salmon. Big portions. However, the place was packed, and the two servers were trying to keep up, but needed help. WOW! Such a great find. Came into town for a fishing trip asked the captain for a recommendation and this was one a couple he spoke of and I am glad I went. First and foremost Kim! She's an absolute badass, running around multiple tables, making sure all was taken care of for each and every table. Her recommendation on beer battered mushrooms was spot on and the cheese steak was so flavorful. Our server was very friendly and attentive and kept checking on us and refilling our water. I enjoyed the pub atmosphere. I haven't been to Gallagher's before, but my 96-year-old Dad loves them. I was recently visiting, and I said, "how about Gallagher's for lunch?" He said, "OK!" I ordered via DoorDash, and went down to pick up the food. I really like their restaurant in the old Eagle house. It just gives oFf the vibe of a good old-fashioned Irish pub. I understand it's recently been remodeled, and it looks awesome. Everybody was friendly. I picked up the food and brought it home. I ordered the two-piece fish and chips, and a cup of clam chowder for each of us,. The clam chowder was a big cup, and it was rich and creamy. Lots of clams. Even though I ordered the two pieces of fish and chips, we got an order with three in them. The fish was flaky and tender, the breading was wonderful. Not greasy at all. And the fries were just absolutely the perfect texture. The tartar sauce was amazing It also came with a side of coleslaw, which was crunchy and delicious. I finished my meal, and I was stuffed. My dad had a little bit left over, and he said it reheated very well. The price is a little bit on the higher end, but for all that you get, quantity and quality, it's well worth it. I love old school interiors and it also looks clean and neat from a customer chair. I ordered fish and chips and NY steak and also beer battered fried pickle! ( wow!) Fish and chips dish was solid good. Something you can reminiscing from NY or Boston Irish pubs! Also, it comes with 3 pieces of fish rather than ( inflation style 2 pieces)! Gallagher's is a great place for lunch or dinner! The restaurant has warm interior style and decently comfortable chairs. They have really great waitstaff too, they make the experience so much more pleasant. My favorite dishes here so far are the fish and chips, the shepherds pie and their ribeye steak! The chocolate mousse is also amazing and my husband favors the banana pudding. This place has been a big hit with family too when they visit. read more

Strolling around when we stumbled in here. Upon entering has the makings of a real Irish Pub. Quickly greeted and seated. Smithwicks on tap so knew we had the right place. Ordered a Rueben and the Fish and chips. Corned beef used in the Rueben was to die for. Sandwich over the top good. Fish was pacific cod and fried perfectly. Malt vinegar brought out all the flavor and chips were perfect. Finished it off with one of the best Irish Bread pudding desserts we've had this side of the pond! Not sure if I've Yelped here before but I've certainly eaten here several times. We've stayed in the rooms above also. The place was full, a hardy loud crowd. We found our favorite seats at the bar. My wife had the portobello sandwich of course. Now I'm a big fan of the Ruben...or the fish and chips...so I'll have the...shrimp and creamy grits! So glad I did. From our seats we can get a grand view of the place, front seat service from the barkeep and watching the cooks so skillfully pump out order after order is entertaining and fascinating to watch. An attempt at dinner with two kids, not a good choice for food or location with kids. Very loud and overstimulating even for adults. Limited table service and very slow. Perhaps they were busier than two ladies could handle. Ordered food with our non-alcoholic beverage to hopefully save time. Potato skins WITHOUT onions and food for the kids were requested to come first, entrees after. We waited an hour for food and nearly left, then potato skins WITH nasty green onions arrived and so did everything else. Probably a good thing everything came so my son and husband could start scarfing. My daughter passed the point of being reasonable for anything but fries, so I had to carry her around while the stuff was packed up. Just as well, my Thai salad was a horrible disappointment with chicken as dry as jerky, slimy spring lettuce, limited and bland peanut sauce. I ate 3 bites and lost my appetite. I tried eating the onion laden potato skins, but they were so flavorless that salt couldn't even perk them up. I should have had fish& chips I guess, it's the only thing I remembered they did well before they moved twice. Oh and my son and I went to the bathroom to wash our hands before dinner. The rage music coming from the kitchen was so loud that we couldn't hear each other at the sink. The sink was nearly overflowing and paper towels were haphazardly sitting on the edge of the counter instead of the dispenser. Pretty sure I dried our hands on dirty towels. I didn't bother to really complain, the staff seemed oblivious to any needs or cared to inquire when I declined a box (while stating the salad was horrible). Plus I wasn't interested in waiting for a remake, whatsoever. I couldn't wait to get out of there for my own sanity; and my kids did remarkable considering the very loud environment and long wait. We won't be back, and we remembered why we never made it a point to dine there. read more

Love this place, First of all they have the cleanest bathrooms of any pub/resteraunt we have been to on our 10 day trip thru Nortern Cali and Oregon. The wings were great for a starter and my GF's corned beef Rueben was too much to finish and thick cut like it should be. My Sheapards pie was very delicious and a large serving. One of the best I've had and I'm a Boston boy ! We are so glad we stopped in on our way back to SFO. It's rare I jump on yelp anymore, but I have to today. I've lived in Eureka a year and a half and have eaten out hardly at all. Most of that is due to always having our pup with us. But today, we wanted a little luxury and sought out Gallaghers, having seen the billboards for so long. I was expecting a hole in the wall and had low expectations, but when we walked in it was amazing to be surrounded by the welcoming and warm atmosphere. The menu made me forget why I came and everything seemed like it would be delicious. We chose the potato skins as an appetizer. My wife chose the burger, not her usual go-to. After pondering 80% of the menu as my first foray, I decided on the fish and chips, but I substituted onion rings, having seen a plateful pass by. In summation, the fish was the best I've ever had. Every time I come here, I get the Reuben eggrolls. They are my absolute favorite cheat meal. I also love their fried pickles and cheese curds. The ambiance gave us a welcoming feeling. I originally wanted to order the Blackened Salmon but had a change of mind when I happened to "peek" at the other table's entree-Irish sausage. I had their clam chowder to quickly satisfy my growling stomach. Naturally, it already filled me up! I ate half of my entree and gave me such a gastronomic delight!
