Quality/Quantity - Had an amazing time in your Arcata location on our last visit. This visit was almost as good. Still 5 stars! Your Arcata location was just so much larger and with more activities. Plus, I believe your beer is brewed there...? Anyway, had the Dusseldorf Altbier (again) and finished with your signature Sticky Finger IPA!! As usual, all your beers are very good. Food truck available, see menu, but we were scheduled to go to Smalls Fusion Comfort (another 5 star review). I am so glad I did not get fries here and ruin my dinner at Smalls. Ambiance - Good size location. Less activities than Arcata. Indoor and covered outdoor seating. Bar and table seating. Plenty of mall parking. Well, we also got here early and for HH. HH is $1 off each pint. Service - Counter service. Fast and friendly. Tasters offered if you are unfamiliar with their beers. Price - $13+ tip. Expensive for HH, but worth it for good beer! Great beers! We were sent here from another great brewery up in Reedsport OR. They said it was a must stop and they were right. We sampled a bunch of their beers and everything from the pilsners, to the IPAs, to the Belgian style was excellent. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. We only tried the loaded fries from the food truck, but they were very good too. Our beertender was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating as we wanted to sample a lot of their stuff and had to stick with 4 oz pours or splashes of things in order to be able to try everything we wanted to. Parking can be difficult. Great selection of beers though and the food truck is a nice touch. However, they've cultivated such a family-friendly atmosphere that it's ruined the vibe. Think screaming infants inside that are ignored while their parents drink. We've been chased out of the patio before by a group of moms who wanted it for their kids to run around. Redwood Curtain was an excellent brewery we went to when we went to the Eureka area recently. It was one of our first breweries for this town and it was a nice kick off! I got an awesome Dry Irish Stout! Living up to it's name it had a dry flavor, smoothness, coffee and creamy flavors and textures. Steve really liked his beer that he got (though I can't quite recall what he got I do remember the praise). Their beer selection is huge, and there is a detailed menu with tasting notes (and friendly, knowledgeable staff) to help you decide. Prices are very reasonable always, and even $1 cheaper Mon-Fri 4-6 for Happy Hour, so you can try lots of varieties. The Cookin Nook food truck there has a great menu too, with mouthwatering burgers & fries/onion rings, fresh, loaded salads, homemade dips with flatbread, grain bowls, warm sweet treats... anything you could want. I for one have become sour to the idea that a bartenders only quality is the accumulation of facial piercings. When one asks about a beer you answer should not be it looks like that on over there, pointing to a table across the room. Redwood Curtain needs to do better at hiring. That's not bad and and they are like French fries and sweet potato fries. ambiance was also good, and you can have live music over there. A totally different vibe from their original industrial-esque Arcata location, but still just as great. It looks like it's in a former Mexican restaurant with its arched windows and tiled roofing. It's open for takeout and outdoor dining and doesn't offer food, but allows you to bring your own which is awesome. Service is super friendly and attentive, there's sanitizing in between customers, and tables are well spaced out. Beers are diverse and great as expected from Redwood Curtain. Since we live in the Bay Area, we even got a few crowlers (3 for $20) to take for home. Plenty of free parking out front. read more

I don't really like beer, but a lot of my friends do like going to this brewery. It's busy, clean, well staffed (Arcata). The Eureka location, not so much, generally 1 bartender & while clean & good service, they are often out of stock of items on their beer menu. Also, the Eureka location is randomly closed, from regular hours. Both food trucks at locations seem to be good, though sometimes out of stock if it's a busy night (Arcata location, specifically). It's fairly noisy in Arcata, Eureka's smaller & a less busy & generally less customers overall. My review is mostly that of personal taste, also had a bad experience with someone who was addicted to their IGA. It's a bit stronger than their lighter beers & it made him extremely mean! But, again, that's not The Curtains fault! read more

Spent a solid four hours here killing time. Seems pretty uncharacteristically cool for Eureka, but I'd imagine that's why they're as successful as they are. Good variety of beers, all with good flavor, nice girl working, interesting interior layout, but still classy. Wasn't happy that the food stopped at 8pm when the brewery closed at 11, but that's alright. The guy running the food was nice about it. Worth a stop if you're in the area! read more

My favorite beer in the county! I like the Arcata location better because there's a food truck and the design is nicer, but if you can snag a spot outside in Eureka it's great. Rumor has it that Eureka will soon again have a food truck too. I wish they'd carry at least one alcoholic GF option (like Humboldt Cider) for my gluten intolerant friends. Overall Mad River wins for that reason since they have good beer, food, a nice outdoor area and are more accommodating to people with dietary restrictions. read more

This bartender foisted a sample on me before I could even look at the menu and/or take a piss! He always knew when to check on me, and that is a key ingredient of bartending. Also, the beers were good. And $5 for happy hour doesn't hurt. read more

Service was great. Beer - meh for me. I like reds, ambers and porters. They had two porters that were too bad. Since it's Halloween I was hoping for a Halloween beer but unfortunately nothing at this time. I will say they had some yummy Pale Ales. read more

We visited Redwood Curtain Brewing pre-covid. We originally intended to visit the Arcata location, but it was crazy packed, so we opted for Eureka location on Myrtle Avenue. I loved the concept - beautiful open brewery with outdoor activities, and a food truck out back. I drank a péche rustique beer and ordered some fish tacos - the food was to die for! The group I was with also purchased an order of garlic fries for us to share. Holy garlic! There was so much of it, and very large pieces! It had a lot of bite! As the drinks continued to flow, half of our party played some shuffleboard. I appreciated the fact that there was a self-serve water fountain with clean glasses, so that you didn't have to wait for a server to hydrate. I very much miss this place and am looking forward to going back someday! read more

My second time to this Humboldt county gem. My sister and I enjoyed a flight of mostly IPAs. Our favorite was the session DIPA, and the nitro oatmeal stout. Awesome beers! Super authentic, friendly staff, and a fantastic food truck (South G kitchen) on the patio serving the best french fries EVER! The black garlic parm french fries are to die for. Redwood curtain has a lot of good beer (and hooray!!! They aren't all IPA's!) This is no secret & if you haven't tasted these beers you are Missing Out Big Time. This taproom is open late enough, often has space to sit & chill. The patio gets great sun during Humboldt's sun season (but is a bit small for all of the things it's in use for... games that involve throwing things, seating & food truck access). Kid friendly. (They have some toys on hand and whatnot). The fish truck is damn good. And I mean damn good. I realized I have been back 4 times in 2 weeks. It's not a cheap food truck... it's one that is putting out 10-15$ plates that are actually worth that money. Meat is never over dressed & is the highlight of every dish. Crab melt Sammy special is divine. Grilled halibut tacos are better than the fish tacos I have gotten anywhere else in eureka. The salmon kimchi bowl has a nice gentle spice to it. Grilled cheese available for picky eaters. A few pub grub style snacks that aren't pricy for drinkers only in need of a tummy sponge. read more

And there is great grub (made fresh) in a top notch truck. There is a modest patio; perfect for the space and its intended audience. So here it is. Pay attention, folks. What a gem in little Arcata, Ca. This family owned and operated business is located down the street from the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary and next to an indoor skate park! I love this place! A jovial atmosphere and positive, engaging bartenders accent their premium product. The arrival of this taproom has gifted the otherwise dormant Myrtletown neighborhood a much needed hub for merriment. The beer selection is diverse, offering options for both the casual imbiber and those who immerse themselves in the culture. The assortment changes often, but has a few staples always on tap. The bar and tables are made from beautiful slabs of Redwood and there's usually plenty of seating. The outside patio area offers a couple backyard games and there's a shuffleboard inside. Like the Arcata spot, the LoCo Fish Company has a food wagon on site, which always comes through with the grub (I like fish, but I might suggest the Wagyu beef burger. Yum.) I frequent this place about once a week. It's always the highlight, especially when Lindsay is working :) She is awesome! read more
