This is the BEST oyster place I have been to in California, hands down. They are very reasonably priced, the service is great & friendly, and the oysters were perfect - very big & filling, creamy, & the all of the sauces on top are tasty. You can't go wrong with whatever you pick - raw or broiled oysters. They have a big space, a few minutes walk from the water, in the downtown area so it's perfect as a place to sit and chill with some friends.
Do you like oysters? This is the best for a couple hundred miles, maybe more. The oysters are very fresh. you can see where they are harvested across the channel on Whibley Island. They are huge. They are served raw and broiled. I recommend the former. They have a dozen sauces for each style. Never overdressed. They do have other food choices. Local meats and cheeses. I am sure they are great. Get the oysters thought. It's in a beautifully restored building in an area of town which is hip. Servers were great.
Quality/Quantity - Sold out of oysters!! Due to the floods from the storm, they are not allowed to harvest their oysters for 3 days as per the law here. My wife insisted that I get a beer, since we made the trip here. Or was it because they wanted to go next door shopping?!?! So I got an "amber" draft beer, and tried a few other tasters of their other dark beers. I almost got a second beer, when my family came back and wanted to go to dinner. See Pineapple Express's 5 star review. Ambiance - Decent size location, indoor and outdoor seating. Bar, counter, table, counter table, and outdoor seating; so many options. Limited menu, but I am sure when it is in season, it is done well. They were making a mango rock fish ceviche, but we really wanted oysters; what they are known for. Open kitchen and bar. Service - 6 stars, so friendly and welcoming! Offered me tasters before deciding on my "amber" beer. I should have and could have hung out at the bar while my wife and daughter left me to go shopping next door, lol. The team gave us so many suggestions of what to do and see in Eureka. Walk in only, no reservations; not a problem on this rainy/storm day. Our last visit to Eureka was positive, but this trip with the amazing friendly service EVERYwhere took this 5 star trip to the next level. I look forward to our next trip! Price - $8 + generous tip. Cute place m, great ambiance, great selection of drinks wine and tap beer n cider! we had a couple of ciders. delicious and affordable. Cheese plate was good and fairly priced. Service was great. She said we were in luck the oysters were fresh this morning. we were so excited. we got a dozen and a cypress Grove cheese platter with crackers and jam. cheese plate was fire. They lost me on the oysters. she said you choose your sauces and they dress them for you, but we could get them on the side so we did. Not only were the sauce sides small not near what you would need for a dozen. Somewhat chewey, a bit fishy and definitely enough to get me to wonder if I should try a second. I did.. same. Even after the mignonette, cocktail sauce, and squeezed lemon the fishy-ness still powered through. She ate one and I ate 2. we left the rest. we will see how we feel late night/tomorrow. Hopefully ok. if it wasnt for that this would have been a completely different review.
Matthew was so friendly, so helpful, such a joy to listen to. He caught our oysters yesterday and served them to us today. Best oysters I have ever had. Phenomenal service, Matthew is super friendly and engaging. Definitely recommend this place for a charcuterie platter, oyster biscuit, and fresh oysters!
For my work trip I get to go to Eureka for 2 weeks. I came here 3 times during that two weeks! Service was fast and friendly. You order at the counter and then sit where you want. If you're ordering charcuterie board you fill out a sheet of what you want. Charcuterie board was fun I tried a lot of combo. However - they kept on not having the thing w the fig which is kinda sad but oh well. I've been into charcuterie lately because of the board game lol I tried so many of their oysters but I don't remember the flavor. I just ask for chef choice each time. The first time I got the spicy combo of oysters which can be a tad too intense - so fair warning. Then other time I got the baked oyster which is literally so good. I think the peach and nou nou are my favorite. The fresh ones are also a must get especially on the days they get them off the boat , if I remember what they said it's Wednesday but idk if it changes every week. All the combo of sauce and mignonette makes for a dynamic experience. If you love oysters you can't miss this spot.
Visiting the area and decided to try this place. Never have we had Oysters so we opted for the broiled. VERY tasty, but I did get a face flush allergic reaction, so perhaps my last oyster. Bummer! Hummus plate was yummy, loved the Pink Lady Apple slices, our favorite apple!. And we tried the single portion of Humbolt Fog cheese, been wanting to try it, and while mild, we were not disappointed. Vibe is very cool... Super nice staff. And service was great. Prices seemed a tad high, but considering the location and products served, it is to be expected.
I stumbled upon Humboldt Bay Provisions while I was out walking my dog by the bay. What an incredible local gem! The oysters are farmed locally and staff work both the farm and the restaurant. I had their fresh off the boat oysters and ceviche, which was also fresh off a local fisherman's boat. The wine and beer lists are small, but well thought out. There was a speed dating event being held that night, which provided entertainment for both me and my dog! Super chill, clean and friendly place. The bartenders were exceptional.
The best oysters I've ever had in my life. Incredible local wines and beers. The friendliest staff. Huge windows that let you people watch or have a view of the bay. Found this place thanks to a Los Angeles Times review, and we came here every night for dinner or a snack. Highly recommend. read more

Came here after being on the road all day and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Not only were the oysters and wine amazing, but the hospitality really stood out. We had such great conversation, felt genuinely welcomed, and got some awesome recommendations for the rest of our travels. The space itself was cute, clean, and super chill. You can tell the 2 guys working here truly care about creating a good experience for everyone who walks in. We'll absolutely be thinking about this place long after the trip is over. My partner and I stumbled upon this place while walking through downtown Eureka & we were greeted with very kind workers who were helpful when we were deciding what to get! You can never go wrong with cider, so ours were delicious. The ceviche... I wouldn't recommend. There was shrimp, grapefruit (and its juice, and corn. For some people, that might sound delicious, but man, the bitterness from the grapefruit was throwing it all off! I would recommend stopping by and checking it out! read more

This welcoming and warm place serves up local brews, local wines, fresh oysters, and locally sourced charcuterie boards. It has vault ceilings and wood floors. The service here was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. This place had the freshest oysters served a variety of ways with a variety of sauces. Yum! The charcuterie board with local cheeses was incredible and one of the best boards we ever had. We added green apples and dry salami. Wow! The local fumage blanc and Humboldt fog were delicious! We loved all the beer, wine and eats we tried. In eureka, this is a must try place for oyster lovers or charcuterie board lovers. read more

This is an oysters and cocktails (yummy coders$ place. They do have cheese and other small plates but the oysters were delicious! They are medium sized and we did dozen of the raw and dozen of the broiled. We chose "chef's choice" of spicy and mild sampler. It was great! The ambiance is cute and friendly! There are card/ board games to play while waiting. You order at the counter and wait for your food to arrive. The employees are friendly and kind. I was visiting and this will be a spot I return to on my next visit. read more

The location is breathtaking amongst the Victorian buildings. Inside is what you would expect long bar , open ceilings , windows for the avid people watchers ! The beautiful men who helped us so much on our journey were magnificent! They made our day magical! They even gave us a few extra locations to visit while we were in the area ! Let's not forget dessert too we love how much care they had for us weary travelers! ! We will be advising everyone we know to head over to this establishment! read more

The building and location alone are worth going but I Immediately loved the place when I walked in! So open and bright with fantastic wood tables and bar. But what I was really excited about was the local and natural wines they offer! Mathew was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about them and made my experience all that much better!! Definitely try the Miles Garret sauvignon blanc and the Ishi Pishi chilled red for something different and of course the local oysters and cheeses to pair. read more

Best meal and wine! We were so impressed by the staff -- Madison and Matthew -- because of their knowledge and passion for oysters. They gave us the best suggestions for sauces! We randomly happened upon this wonderful spot. We had no idea We found a hidden gem in downtown Eureka. Great atmosphere, oysters are always super fresh, super nice staff and wonderful drinks. My grandfather is a commercial fisherman, and I wanted to bring him to a spot where I know the oysters would be wonderful. He vouched that they were indeed so. We ended up coming here multiple times and then the last time for pre-wedding celebration party get together. We planned it last minute and Michael and his staff went above and beyond to help us have a great time! I highly recommend this local spot. read more

What a great find while I was exploring the Redwoods parks! These oysters are as fresh as they can get with them being brought in straight from the harbor within walking distance. In fact, the restaurant owner himself is the one bringing these goodies in as one of the staffs shared as we chatted. Only tried the oysters here -- raw and broiled -- and both were delicious! We did the chef's choice for raw to get a taste of various flavors (gave them the ok for spicy) and they were great! The 3 we tried; Habanero Jelly, Spinach & Cucumber Mignonette, and Humboldt Hot Sauce. And because we love pesto, we went for half a dozen of the Pesto Broiled Oysters and they were so good. If you also purchase a drink, they'll give you a free oyster if your choice as well! A great deal if you ask me. These oysters were also great value ($14-16 per half dozen)! And they have Happy Hour deals on Tues and Thurs. All in all, lovely spot with very down to earth servers where we got to learn more about the restaurant and also ask for other spots to try out in the area (in which we went and it was indeed delicious). Lots of seating with a woodsy interior made the space feel cozy as the sunset lighting peeked through the windows. Would definitely recommend people try out this spot if you're in the area! read more

Was passing through eureka for a roadtrip and we were craving oysters. These were top notch oysters: very fresh, sweet, and clean tasting. There was only 1 type of oyster but there are a number of sauces that you can choose from for the order. Typically 1 for each order. The habanero was my favorite; it was slightly sweet with a light undertone of spice. Something very doable for those with a lower spice tolerance. Super cool, chill environment. Seems to have college kids come here to hang out. They also have charcuterie which is a very sharable add to the restaurant. read more

This place is such a great find! The guy at the counter was so helpful in explaining the menu. They had no oysters due to the weather, so I built a custom charcuterie board and it was delicious and great portion! They had a deal on wine and beer on Tuesdays, so I got a delicious glass of wine for only $10. Great vibe, great location, I will definitely be back next time I visit the area! read more
