Weather was beautiful so we sat outside and had wine while one person in our party got a beer. Overall the wine was good, but the service and ambiance were great! Stepped into Septentrio the other evening, a chill and very laidback winery thats so unpretentious its a pleasure to actually sit, sip, sample, snack, and socialize The winery has a nice selection of wines by the bottle and the glass as well as an assortment of sparkling waters and lemonade - I settled on a 2016 Russian River Cabernet that was simply sublime, smooth full bodied and rich overtones of chocolate, spice and berries it was well aged and ready for its uncorking on my visit. This is a gem of a winery located very inconspicuously in a downtown neighborhood Arcata. The backyard makes it all worth it too, a very comfortable private area to enjoy your libation choice and sit outside in mother nature. Several seating areas spread out with fire pits at a few, pairs, groups and clusters of areas allow you to pick your space accordingly. Friendly help and kind folks that work here too, everyone is very helpful and professional my server was so kind, she even brought a water dish for my little buddy. Absolutely love the atmosphere and wine, but we had a terrible experience at Geos Pizza. They should advertise that they only serve gluten free crust... which tastes essentially like pre-packaged frozen crust with a cardboard texture. Two long tables that could accommodate small groups for a celebration or an after work glass of wine. An unassuming location across from the Hatchet house and a block from Safeway in downtown Arcata. The food truck associated with the winery comes to you from the owners of the Sushi Spot a delicious combination of foods that go well with wine. We ordered both flights beginning with a brut rose, a rose and a Pinot Noir then finishing with a selection of three different Cabernet Sauvignons. All were delicious especially the selection of Cabernet. We were served and well cared for by the owner herself who was lovely and obviously dedicated to her craft. Her husband Jared is a wizard at growing and buying grapes, making each sip full of a cornucopia of flavors. We will definitely frequent this sweet local wine lovers haven. Pros: Great winery, beautiful ambiance, delicious bubbly, live music Cons: The real housewives of Arcata have mommy wine daycare play date here. Well dress 30 something's with devil spawn running around screaming and throwing things. The momzilla's are downing wine and not watching the kids at all. ‍‍‍‍. This is not just one group. There are multiple tables with young children/babies/toddlers. This is a beautiful place & the staff is amazing. If they can afford this delicious wine, they can afford a babysitter for 2 hours. The toddlers definitely don't want to be here. Maybe a kid friendly section? Over 21 after 6? I love kids, this is not the place for a bunch of tired bored toddlers. read more

I wish I had more time to spend here because I was expecting to go in and sample a few wines but it wasn't the case. Beautiful outside setup with tons of seating. They have menus where you can order wine and bottles to drink and hangout. They also have a food truck serving food with your drinks. After hanging out for a bit and enjoying a glass of wine I had to leave, so I asked if I could pick up a few wines to go and they guided me inside where they have wine setup on draft systems. We visited Sunday before Labor Day with a friend and we don't have enough good things to say about this place! The decor and seating is simple yet adorable. The two owners were there and had no problem chatting it up about what we liked and didn't like when it comes to wine. Not in a wine snob kind of way either,but a normal human way lol- really asking about the wines. We had a great time and between my friend and myself we walked out with 8 bottles of delicious wine. UNPOPULAR REVIEW Ive been here 3 times, twice with friends the other with my 22 yr old son. The ambience is great, location is great, wine is decent. If you're a wine mom this is the perfect spot for you. I particularly don't care to walk into a wine bar with a bunch of little kids running around while mommy brags how perfectly well behaved her kids are knocking back bottles of while during mommy & me play dates with other wine moms.
