The service always top notch with a bit of 'entertainment' mixed in. The 1800's loggers museum is a treat too! Decorations and historical photos line the walls of loggers moving those giant Redwoods! Breakfast lunch and dinner are set each day, huge portions and seconds IF you still have room! Everything is served FRESH, HOT and deeelicious! Call ahead to see what they're serving! And when you're seated at a loggers table, be sure to order a loaf of their famous bread to take home! They are closed for re-modeling until 2026, so I'm so excited to see! The restaurant is small and has a skeleton crew of staff, but they don't miss a beat and provide an excellent dining experience for all their guests. There's a nice list of California regional wines by the glass or bottle, and a local selection of beers and hard cider. It seemed that the biggest hit of the evening was the deserts. To a table on the night we dined, everyone was eating the desserts. My only regret from the evening is that we didn't eat the desserts because we had to go in a bit of a last minute dash. Oh well, all the more reason to come back.

This used to be my favorite place for dinner and would tell everyone that came to visit how they "just have to go try it, you'll love". I've been coming into this place for over 15 years and never have I ever been treated so rudely. My hubby and I have been there twice in the past 6 months where we were ignored or literally had our plates and tickets thrown towards us. Not set down, literally slid or tossed like dealing cards. We don't make any crazy orders, don't ask for special treatment, and keep it pretty simple. The prices have increased dramatically and it appears that if you aren't friends with the bartender/server or some hot guy, you aren't worth being treated very nicely. It's too bad,too. We actually tip a minimum of 20% and that's just for decent service and more for above average. I miss the old days. The three stars is only because Larry is the best and always cooks a great steak and makes a point to come out and say hello. Oh and they do have phenomenal Bloody Mary's. Maybe we'll try again someday, but might have to try the lunch shift instead. read more

My husband and I were walking to dinner without a plan. We walked by AA Bar and Grill and saw a sign about steaks. We yelped it and it had good reviews so we went in. The patrons sitting inside could tell that we were a little apprehensive as this is technically a bar! We asked if there was a restaurant area and we were told that this was it by the bartender. The patrons sitting around the bar assured us that we were going to get a very good steak dinner here. We took a seat at the bar and decided, what the heck, we'd give it a try. It is obviously an establishment that many locals frequent as the bartender knew everybody coming in and out for dinner. Everybody in there that spoke to us was super friendly. We ordered the ribeye steak dinner and it was very good. Steak cooked perfect. Looks can be deceiving! It is definitely not a place you could take your children for dinner though. read more

I went there 2 1/2 weeks ago. I used to go all the time when I would came up from S. Hum., this time it was horrible. I sat at the bar how they like and had to wait 15 min. just to put in my drink order as I got a dirty look at when I ordered. Then waiting for my dinner as the drunk cook came out and yelled at the bartender not to bring in anymore orders; my order comes out soon full of fat and burnt. Med. rare is not crispy on the outside. Well. we didn't say anything because sometimes people have bad days, I asked for a box to take it to go and the bartender told me no. WHAT!!! I paid for the food, just want to take it home. Fine I will pay for the box just give me one. What happened to the girl that would come and make funny things with tinfoil? Great drinks, amazing steak. The soups are usually made from scratch. Know what you want to order when the waitress comes up, no hemming and hawing or asking for strange sides or beverage concoctions. Don't you dare ask for a menu. Expect to be stink-eyed or have your experience sullied by salty waitresses if you do the above. If you know what you want and you're familiar with the menu you will be greeted with kindness, and one hell of a steak. Example of proper ordering at AA Lounge: "I would like a medium rare 16 ounce ribeye, half fry half onion rings, with the soup. This restaurant discriminates against disabled people. I called in and they stated that my service dog who helps me with my disability is not allowed in. Her exact words were my boss stated no dog if any type allowed. It is illegal in the state of California for any restaurant to deny a service animal. This is horrible I'm here on vacation saw the great reviews and luckily I called. This is disgusting how is disabled people are discriminated! My favorite ribeyes. My parents always take us there for our birthdays. This year, Sunday May 22, the lady working was very rude. I asked for some water. I ended up drinking my dads. It took her 9 minutes to bring it to me. I had just taken a huge bite of horseradish. I was dying. 2 of us ordered onion rings. They were black. Not just a little burnt where you can eat around it. This place single handed calls me back from the vegetarian side to the carnivore side at least a few times a year.
