I absolutely love the food here. They definitely have a true local feel, that being said, the locals are friendly. I love to stop by for a lunchtime burger and bloody. Hands down one of the fest hand pressed burger in town. The daytime staff are very friendly. Fast service and reasonably priced. Breakfast is also fantastic. Usually make it by here at least once or twice a year for about 10 years. This last visit will be my last. Sent my well/medium well steak back because I ordered medium rare and the cook told me I was wrong my wife's fillet was overcooked as well. I recall the steaks being tender and full of flavor what happened? The I guess woman in charge/bartender spent more time smoking than working I felt sorry for the other woman working by herself while her coworker sat down with friends and had another cigarette. This is the best place in Humboldt to get a ribeye, in my opinion. My go-to is the ribeye, salad with their house dressing, and onion rings. Figured we could get a drink and food. How bad could it be? Bartender recommended the steaks, that they were famous for them, and that it was weird that the bar was so empty. Went here for lunch with 2 friends. The food was ok, but the wait person/Girl assumed that we all wanted another beverage, without asking. Just brought it to us. Then, after telling her that we would like separate tags,she put it all on one card. It was a small lunch crowd , so im guessing she was trying to get the ticket up as high as possible?! We will never step foot into this establishment again. The server was beyond Rude! We went there for my daughter's 21st Birthday. The place was a recommendation due to the supposed great food. I work in this industry and I know how guests are to be treated and that definitely wasn't it. We were treated rudely when we ordered our dinner and she ( the waitress) was absolutely no help when it came to my daughter ordering her first drink. So due to the horrible service we walked out. Out of town for work and they were recommended by a customer. Had the ribeye last night and it was awesome. Cooked to perfection. Came back tonight for the filet mignon and their homemade strawberry cheesecake I missed last night. Got back to find it was the ribeye and not the filet (although the steak still looked great). Called back to explain, they we more accommodating. Told me to keep the ribeye and come back for the filet I had ordered. They even through in an awesome brownie as a "peace offering" lol. First off, the steaks there are the best I've ever had. Their chef or cook or whatever is appropriate to title the individual cooking this meat is excellent at their job. Steak is always excellent. The ambiance is good, too. However, if you don't like bars or their aroma, you might not enjoy it. This place has amazing food and such a great vibe. I'm from out of town (Sacramento Area) and I witness one of the bartenders ( shorter latina gal) being extremely rude to customers. She would lose her cool with them, not friendly or approachable at all. When she would ask a question and if the customer didn't hear she would yell and roll her eyes. I felt very uneasy and honestly, I would avoid coming in there if she was on shift. Other than that this place is a great place that serves amazing food. This place was heavily recommended to me through friends for their meat, and when I stepped in I wasn't sure we were in the right spot. Solid dive bar vibe with the majority of the space dedicated to a large bar at center stage with wrap around seatings. Menu on the chalk board walls, and plenty of people packed in. Excellent!! Came into town late on a Thursday, we were late for our reservation... Walked in and they our table was still open. Fluke or universe, I didn't care. Our server was EXCELLENT! I feel awful that I can't remember her name, but I'm getting old. She worked on Thursday the 10th evening shift. I hope the manager/owner reads these. Steaks were rockstar and perfectly cooked.
